I'm on around 1800-2200 plus any exercise calories....

Thanks for the comments so far. Weight loss is not my goal - I achieved that (last year now!), and for me it's now about:- 1) Increased fitness - especially as I am hoping to run 3 marathons this year 2) Toning up and looking good - I don't ever want to look like a weight lifter / body builder, but I would like good…

Hi Luke, I am tempted to try insanity. I'm at my ideal weight now, but really want to gain in strength and tone up and look good. I have reservations though - first off, I am planning to run 3 marathons this year (having never run more than 10k) and I am concerned at how / if insanity will have a positive or negative…

Hell yes.

Cracking achievement there. Well done.

200,180,170,160 I'm down to an ideal weight now and would like to end up in similar shape to your 160 photo. How long did it take to get from 180 to 160, and what did you do to get there?

Thanks everyone :-D

Hi nas061 - I initially set my goal to lose 2lbs per week, and my calorie intake was 1250 per day... I generally had a cup of coffee with skimmed milk, and one egg (either poached or as an omelette) for breakfast, then I would have aroun 400-450 calories for lunch and 500-600 for dinner. I use a lot of recipes from…

Yes I did run the 10K and did it in 1:10:07 which was 20 mins off of my personal best. I've now signed up for three marathons for 2013 <eep!>

Thank you to all for your comments. I'm very embarrassed about how I looked back then, but I think it's important for anyone using MFP to see that it DOES work if you can put the effort into a healthier lifestyle. It's not magic, and there are no secrets....
-
Thanks - it really was just down to eating and exercising healthily.

My stomach rumbling......
-
*BUMP* Does anyone have a definitive answer?
-
Hi to everyone! Welcome to MFP. I've been here for a while, and am really enjoying it. What I would like to say, is that for me, the MFP "routine" isn't a diet - it's just helping me to maintain a healthier lifestyle by keeping a track of what I eat and what exercise I do. If you can think of MFP in the same way, then it's…

I'm going to add my interpretation here too since there seems to be a lot of conflicting messages in this thread. I've watched the programme a few times to make sure I'm getting everything straight. Now, what was being suggested in the trials was an alternate day fasting - First Day, eat pretty much whatever you want,…

I happen to be eating a portion of their Skinny Beef Lasagne right now! It's fab.... The recipe is on the BBC website already, and I've posted the link in the recipes secion of the board...

If you've got access to a freezer, don't forget that it's often cheaper to cook larger quantities of a recipe, and freeze some portions...

If you're looking for a good paint program, then look at http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/ - it's free. If you've upgraded to Mountain Lion, then you will also need to install XQuartz - http://xquartz.macosforge.org/downloads/SL/XQuartz-2.7.2.dmg

Up until a few weeks ago, I could not do pull ups either. What I started off by doing was just trying to take my weight on the pull up bar without actually doing the pull ups. Pull ups (for me) are easier the closer my hands are together. I can now do 20 quite comfortably.

My weight loss always slows down if I don't drink enough water each day.
-
Welcome to the both of you. This is DEFINITELY the site for you... This site is about helping you achieve a healthier lifestyle, which in turn will help you lose weight and get fitter. Don't think of this as a diet because it really isn't, and as long as you are honest with what you record, AND you record regularly, then…

That's fantastic - well done. I've been there too, so I know how amazing it feels to be "overweight" :-) I'm just 2 lbs off of being "healthy" now, once there, I'm hoping to lose 3 more lbs then go onto maintenance. What is your next goal?

I only get the odd one or two comments now - specifically when people make cakes and bring them in - I always ask for the calorie count... However, I would say that since I started and lost so much weight, my colleagues are now all following suit (although to a lesser degree). Just stick to your guns - your colleagues will…

Thanks for all the replies. Since my weekday runs are going to be around the 4 mile mark, I think I'll just try with the water before I go and then eat when I get back. At the weekends, when I'm supposed to do the longer runs, I'll have breakfast and then go for a run an hour or so after. I really appreciate everyone's…

You need to be careful with this, because your body could go into starvation mode which has a negative effect on your weight too.
-
You've got 180 calories in your morning coffee alone. That's a couple of snacks. You could try substituting for either a regular black coffee which would be 3 calories, or 12 calories if you had it with skimmed milk. Also, I notice that in today's diary, you had a lot of pre-packaged stuff - try making your own lunches and…

www.bbcgoodfood.com have lots of healthy recipies available. I'm now on 1480 calories per day, but was on 1250. I'm male and 6 feet tall, so the prospect of eating 1250 calories a day was daunting, BUT it was actually quite easy. I'd start the day with a coffee (with skimmed milk), and a single egg omelette made with 1 cal…
