I had my complete hysterectomy in 2002. I was overweight at the time and gained more afterwards. Starting in 2011 I decided to lose weight and have successfully lost and maintained a loss of 127 pounds. I do not take any hormone replacement.

If you are only eating 1000 calories during the week then that's not enough as it is. You can't cut from that to add to the weekend. Add in some exercise maybe and bump calories up to 1400 or so.
-
Have you been tracking your food every day? If you do, you can add in a little cushion for the weekend. I view the week as a calorie bank so if I "save" 100 calories each day then I have extra for the weekend. I try to give myself 500 extra calories for the weekend.

My highest weight was 296 five years ago. I hurt every day and I'll be honest...self care/cleaning was getting difficult. I couldn't get the tray down when flying because I was too big. I finally had enough and I just started with MFP in the middle of the week (I always would wait and binge eat and "start" on a Monday).…

Oh my....yes! I knew I was heavy and I was very uncomfortable in my skin. I avoided the camera at all times, but now when I look back at those few pictures, I am quite honestly horrified. I look like I had given up. I still haven't quite figured out this "new-ish" body of mine. Every single day I am amazed at how much…

Search protein muffins or protein pancakes. There are some really excellent recipes out there. I just made these yesterday with chocolate protein powder...YUMM! https://dashingdish.com/recipe/banana-bread-protein-muffins/

Call me crazy but when I eat a salad I want to eat a BIG salad. I can't imagine that a salad shoved into a mason jar is going to do it for me. Neat idea, but not for me.
-
Goodness...go run around the block or run up and down the stairs a few times. It's all good!
-
Honestly, I would be cautious about cutting your calories too quickly, though. 1800 calories is probably about right. I started at 289 and I'm sure I ate around that many, if not more. If you cut your calories too drastically at first, it can be harder to stick to and the body doesn't always cooperate anyway. I have lost…

I started C25K a year ago and struggled with the 90 second runs. I now regularly run 3-4 miles and have just started the Bridge to 10K app. Trust the program, because it works!

Isn't that the same thing as an Elliptical? I would guess the calories would be similar. Just remember, MFP tends to overestimate calorie burn.
-
Volume eater here too and I still feel like a eat a whole lot of food...just better choices. I'd much rather have a huge salad than half a sandwich. I fill my lunch with lots of cherry tomatoes, cucumber, etc....things that take a while to eat, satisfy the crunch factor and are low in calories.
-
First of all, don't just blindly go by what MFP tells you for how many calories you need daily...it often underestimates. Do some reading (use the stickies on the forums). There's tons of amazing information out there that will help you better decide the number of calories your body needs during this journey. I've lost 107…

I'm still on the journey losing weight, but I'm down 107 pounds so far. 5'4"...pic is in my profile.
-
Honestly, I'd be happy at 145ish, which I know is heavy for 5'4". I'm 182 now and in the best shape of my life, so I can't imagine how great I'll feel even smaller!
-
I am sorry for your loss also. I will send you a friend request. All I can say is that I had lost 80 pounds or so maybe 5 years ago and then gained it all back plus some. Sobering for sure! But I wanted to give it one more go and I'm now down 105 pounds and truly feel like I've made that switch to where how I relate to…

I have lost 102 pounds so far and I understand what you say about how daunting it can be when you look at the big picture. Each weigh in I tell myself that this is the last time I'm going to be that weight. Sometimes it's true, sometimes the scale goes up a little before settling back down. Don't allow yourself to get…
-
Losing slowly is so much better for you. Trust me, especially now that you've had a baby, time will fly!
-
Not giving up when the scale doesn't represent the hard work you have put in.

My office at work in IN the break room! We are cramped for space here, so my desk is in the kitchen....talk about hard! But, it's just a matter of mind over matter. I've managed to lose over 100 pounds, so it's possible!
-
Down exactly 100 pounds....and still going!
-
Feel free to add me. It sounds like you're off to a great start!

I'm 46 and have lost 100 pounds to date. I don't believe in restricting any one category of food, so you won't find me doing low carb, etc. I try to eat as many "clean" foods as possible, but am slightly addicted to McDonald's Grilled Chicken Southwest salads with Italian dressing. I have started running this last January…

It is possible to lose weight solely by diet alone. But, if you have opportunity to take the stairs instead of the elevator or to park farther away and walk, then grab those chances. You can do it!

It sounds like you're off to a good start. I would caution you, however about trying to do too much too soon. Unless you know that you have issues with sugars and carbs, there isn't a need to try to eliminate them from your body. Carbs are very valuable tools for energy, which you will need with added exercise. I did the…

Well, you control your own destiny. You are in charge of how much you eat and if you exercise. You said that your mom stopped exercising and ate poorly. Don't do those things.

I am on Celexa and Cymbalta and have lost almost 100 pounds. Of course it's possible to lose weight while taking anti-depressants....you just have to want it. Take it one day at a time and break your weight loss goals down into manageable chunks. Good luck!
-
Oh yes! I have an album on my computer labeled "Before" with several pictures of me at my heaviest. It is excellent motivation!

If you have an Aldi's nearby, that is a great option for lower cost food as well. It might take more work to eat healthy on a diet (as in menu planning, searching sale ads, etc.), but once you get the hang of it I think you will find that it can easily be done.
