25 kg in about ten months.

Mine got smaller and went from DD to C or B depending on bra. And I was happy about that! I'm not as young as I used to be and they do hang more than they used to but I don't go braless anyway and when I pack them away they look fine. A bit of cleavage - no problems.

I agree. Have fun. Don't worry. And get back on the normal track the next day.

Nobody has mentioned The Goodies. And of course there is radio/audio. To mention only a couple,The Goon Show, the start of so much. The long running I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue and its predecessor I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again.

I guess I don't tend to wait for the ten!

I have found that I have to redo my goals. For me that means doing the guided goalsetting and then changing carb/protein/fat via "custom goals".

Love my coffee. I don't have lots. I do roast and grind my own beans and make my own espresso. I usually make it as something like a piccolo latte with semi skim, about 50 cals a cup. Max two a day.

I count water. There are other drinks people drink and many of those have a diuretic effect which would cancel out some of the benefit of the fluid intake from them.

Treat unhealthy food like cigarettes. Ban advertising, plain packaging, health warnings. Tax on it that goes towards campaigns etc. that promote healthy eating and exercise.

My thoughts (to add to what others have already said) ... You don't have a lot to lose. What is your goal set at? When you don't have a lot to lose, it appears people have most success at the half pound per week setting. You could try zig zagging. Have a look for some threads about it. For a while, make sure you are eating…

I went to a restaurant recently and had the same meal (a monthly special) that I've had several times before, but could not get through it all and felt very uncomfortable afterwards.

I do use the 3G on my Kindles for looking things up. For example, a person or a thing or a historical period I want more information on, that has come up in my reading. Both the DX and K3 are useful for that.

Just coz I love it. This is my Kindle 3 in its Oberon cover, lying on top of my Kindle DX in its M-Edge cover. I had the Kindle DX first, choosing the larger Kindle so I could read work documents - I read a lot of journal articles in pdf - but it's also good for reading other books. It's not as easy to slip into the…

Kindle is great for reading text-based books. Not so good for illustrated books and of course it can't do colour for colour illustrations. I read lots of text based books (novels and things like that) and it's outstanding. And all the other comments apply. :) I can have a library in my handbag. I have an Oberon cover for…

Yeah, good to have a group! It will make it easier to keep tabs on the conversation/s. :D

I like to put in a handful of frozen berries (or fresh if you have them) towards the end of the cooking time.

I am peri menopausal and since the start of August have lost about 7.5kg/16lbs. So yes, add me to the list of women who have been doing it!
-
Just to add to everyone else's posts ... I gain weight at that time too. I think the evidence is pretty overwhelming!

I set mine to half a pound a week some little time back and over the last four weeks have averaged a pound a week still. I did it for the same sorts of reasons as others have said - I didn't want to be too hungry; I want the change to be a long term sustainable one. I don't want to be on a "diet" that makes me feel hungry…

Research studies have demonstrated that eating cholesterol does not have much effect on the amount of cholesterol you produce and have in your blood. Eating saturated fat has a much greater effect - if you want to reduce blood cholesterol, keep intake of saturated fat low.

I can relate to losing a decade. I did have some other things going on too, but compared to how fit and active and capable I used to be, my 40s has been a struggle. I have achieved a fair bit when I look at it, but it's not been to my previous capacity and ability.

Have you had dogs before? Are you experienced in training them? A puppy is like having a second baby, really. They take a lot of work and they will chew too and may chew on little hands when you are not looking. You may be better off getting a dog that is through the puppy stage, which is already house trained, walks on…

When we were discussing peri menopause, my doctor asked me if I was itchy at all. I said I get itchy on my shins. I forgot to tell her that sometimes, especially at night, I get itchy all over, and red bumps, like a histamine reaction. I generally have to take an antihistamine and then it settles down. Does anyone else get…

Thanks for that snookumss, that's reassuring. I've not lifted weights before so I didn't really know what to expect. Before when I was very fit - and much younger - I was doing physical work and recreation and was fit that way. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing then. :D

Thanks for all your thoughts. I have been doing the first round with 2kg per dumbbell (and 30 sec planks) and then the second round of the same stuff with 4.5kg (and 1 min planks). I live in a metric country and MFP doesn't have the ability to reset it to kg not lbs. I have kg in my notes at the bottom. I have been doing…

I was all set to start eating soy, but I read some research reports and the evidence that it helps is not very strong. *sigh*

I use the digital scale since the Wii Fit is much more involved and time consuming to use as a scale. And I don't use it all the time.

I'm in Australia and we've only just become able to buy them here from stores and not have to buy them from Amazon. I was of the understanding (regarding service) that Amazon service will cover faulty Kindles. I've already had one replaced, my son's, although my daughter's and my own DX have been fine. The Amazon service…

caligirl I can relate to a lot of what you've written about. And retaining fluid! OMG! Lots of puffy feet. I thought it was just being overweight. debbie - interesting about the cholesterol. I've just had a blood test recently and had raised cholesterol for the first time ever. Hopefully losing weight will fix that up.…

Mainly because despite exercise and healthy food, I didn't have a clear idea of how much I should - and shouldn't - eat.
