@ People on Half a Pound a Week goal

Just upped my calories to 1410 to lose 0.5 a week as only have a few pounds left and felt so hungry all the time (even though I have been eating 1200 ish net since May).

Really want to increase my strength too & I feel like I can't fuel my body or eat enough protein on 1200.

People doing the same are you actually losing weight at that rate or do u lose less/more?

Gonna try not to weigh til a week on Friday incase I gain at first & get disappointed.

    I am trying to lose a significant amount of weight but I have a trainer who puts me on a strict diet and weight program. Since ou are so close to your goal I would talk to a professional about wanting to put on muscle and still reach my weight goal. The thing about building muscle is it weighs more than fat so if you work on building you might not reach your weight goal but you will reach the inches goal. Talk to a trainer and get some advise if they try to push supplements or anything like that on you they are just tryng to sell something. Good luck girl.

    when i first decreased my weight loss to 0.5 lb loss / week instead of 1 lb / week ... i still lost more than 0.5 lbs per week. I changed it when I was about 10 lbs from my goal.. I think it's cause i would always eat a little bit under my "calorie goal"

    I'm set on .5 a week too and I routinely lose about a pound a week still. I count more toward my weekly goals than daily goals, though, and most week days find me about 100-200 under goal whereas on the weekend I then eat about 500 extra each day to make it up. It works for me, I get the same net calories per week and I've never plateaued or had trouble :happy:

    Right from when I started MFP I set my goal to lose 1/2 lb a week because I never believed I could eat less than that calculated amount. It really worked well for me. I ACTUALLY lost on average 1 lb a week for the first 35 lbs. By then I was out of the obese category and was a lot more active. Since the calorie allotment goes down as you lose weight (which is a brutal reward!), I upped my activity level from sedentary to lightly active so that my calorie level wouldn't go down as far. At this point, my ACTUAL weight loss has been and continues to be 1/2 lb a week. I am 4 lbs from a healthy BMI and I am thinking my 'last 10 lbs' have been no worse than the first 10 lbs.

    Oh by the way, I always eat my exercise calories, and have been zigzagging my calories for about 5 months.

    i'm curious how it's going to pan out because I am ready to switch to half a pound a week. I am having troubles sticking to 1200 calories. I'm always hungry and eat more :)) lol...

    I changed mine because I was getting too hungry as well. With less than 10 lbs to lose it seemed okay to do. I'm struggling to lose weight lately though :(
  • I managed to lose 1lb per week when i upped my calories to 1370 on here which for me MFP said i needed to lose 0.5 per week. I did this for about 4 weeks or so. I wasn't exercising at the time other than a few 20 minute walks here or there so didn't have exercise calories to eat on top.

    I definitely recommend it especially having been on 1200 for quite some time . It's so nice to be able to eat that extra bit - it really does make a difference.

    I set mine to half a pound a week some little time back and over the last four weeks have averaged a pound a week still.

    I did it for the same sorts of reasons as others have said - I didn't want to be too hungry; I want the change to be a long term sustainable one. I don't want to be on a "diet" that makes me feel hungry or deprived.

    When I first started I had it on a pound a week and was losing much faster than that until I'd lost about 5% of my bodyweight at the time. Statistically that's how much most people lose when they lose weight - that's the easy part. The rest of it is harder so I want to make sure I keep at it for the long haul.
  • So what they say about losing it slow, is the way to go....no pun intended here...but it does rhyme....LOL Seriously, I think it only makes sense that this is a good way to lose weight.
  • I have been losing weight at the speed of light in the past couple of months, sometimes more than 1 pound a week. I have been counting calories, eating healthier, walking more etc. I lost 20 pounds in a short period of time, or so it seems. I have just been very active. I am getting hungrier and the last couple of days i have had headaches. I dont want to feel deprived and hungry, that is the worst feeling, I dont want to be in a diet I want to change my lifestyle. I still have a long way to go, but I just rearranged my intake so i can lose 1/2 a pound a week. I think for sanitys sake I will be better like this, the pressure makes me want to eat more. I barely would eat that many calories but I want to have that little room to breathe without feeling guilty. Im grateful for this forum!
