Forza Juve!

Are you logging regularly? Has that been an important part of staying on track? I guess that's my biggest question -- how well "maintainers" do with or without continued vigilant logging.

^this formula is my go-to as well, and lately I'm jazzing it up by experimenting with different oils/vinegar combos: tonight was walnut oil and quince vinegar, last night was citrus vinegar with a 3-6-9 omega oil. Also I buy beets in the prepared food section and dice them. Beets+walnuts+feta+spinach with chicken or tofu…

Very cool! One OF for you to check out: Angelic Organics, about an hour NW of Chicago. I did not work the farm, but visited on subscriber appreciation day and received a weekly box, so I can vouch that the people and the place are fantastic. I'd also look at Kinnikinnick Farm, a bit closer to the WI border. Let me know…

Please invite me! Love this idea. Namaste!

Amen sister! Here's to a great 2012 and to healthy habits that last a lifetime.

I aspire to be "fat skinny," so thanks for providing me with the "don't" list!

When I started at 155 pounds on August 1, I set my goal weight to 140. I didn't know how long it would take to lose 15 pounds. At age 49, women have to be focused, determined and patient, because the endocrine system can have a mind of its own. So far I have lost 10 pounds, and it's a huge victory for me to have…

Chana dal. Chicken Tikka (not Tikka Masala). And Sag Paneer .... ooh, that sounds good right now.

SO happy to see this. Thank you!

Very interesting stuff. Thanks Susan!

Ooh, I printed these out for some armchair baking.

The scale may hate, but those photos don't lie!

Mix it into cottage cheese or low-fat ricotta with a bit of truvia. Variation: add cinnamon and chili powder. Sounds crazy, but it's not. Also throw it into yogurt with some instant espresso powder and truvia. For real.

I meant to say to the above: that's what it's all about. Hang in there and the scale WILL move, and it will mean that much more because you are changing your body composition. This is life in the lower numbers; embrace it, as you are lucky to not have that much to lose. And when it does come off, at a half a pound a week,…

Huge insight! You have become conscious. It's the beauty of tracking: you see the impact and then you choose. Good for you. You'll never go back to the old way.

Good stuff! Thanks.

Seconding string cheese, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese (add cinnamon as a blood sugar leveler); also mini Clif bars (100 cals), sliced chicken, and crustless spinach quiche (made with ricotta).
-
That's beautiful. So happy for you both!

For foods like sliced meat, you really want a scale. It's amazing how much variance I find from my guesstimates, even after months of doing this.
-
I second that. It is the most high-intensity cardio I've ever done.

It's been a pretty close projection when I'm at my desired net (with deficit) of 1200 cals, but not on days when I make a bigger exercise calorie deficit than I can eat that day. But of course the actual results should be an average of all the predictions, adjusted for your metabolism and any misreporting. And thanks for…

Thanks all. I just needed to hear the common sense. That red type gets you wondering. I did go have a bite of dark chocolate though. : )

Been there. The difference for me this time is a "no excuses" attitude. I own this, and it's my fault if it doesn't work. So I do these three things now: 1. Measure and count calories; 2. Exercise 5 times a week (two cardio, three circuit); 3. Enjoy (not whine about) a process that is making me healthier and happier.…

I love everything you wrote, but maybe this the best of all. Thank you!

I would actually see them as a disadvantage, because they have got to be uncomfortable. I recommend fabrics that breathe and wick, not sweat and stick.

Any soup that's not creamy (minestrone or black bean are great), and any salad with 3-4 oz of protein that's (no creamy dressing; caesar at a restaurant can run you 1,000 cals). Most decent restaurants have a salad with protein or one you can add chicken, salmon or steak to. And wave away the bread basket. I don't worry…
