Don't think about you "life" without bingeing. Just focus on today. You can think about tomorrow, tomorrow :)

That's been my pattern for so long, too. My thoughts right now are to try to string 7 days in a row together of good eating, and then hope that it becomes easier and more of the usual pattern for me. I think when I complete these 7 days, I will just set another 7 day goal right away. I am such a creature of habit. But,…

I have also read recently about ditching the breathe through your nose, exhale through your mouth technique. You want to get as much oxygen as you can in each breath, and that makes it doubly hard to do so. Also focus on using your diaphragm while breathing so that you are not breathing too shallow and also to aid in…

Being tired and being bored are my triggers too. I love the idea of gum! I have a very long commute (over an hour each way) and I have found myself hitting fast food drive thru's on the way to soothe myself while passing the time. And then my other bad time is in the evening, when I'm tired from the long day and commute,…

Such an excellent time for your first! I often see pictures of runners enjoying a beer after a race (this is Wisconsin after all) but I just can't imagine it! Maybe after a rest and a shower, THEN a beer. But right afterwards? No way! Chocolate milk sounds much better :-)

I've read runners talk about their camelbacks on Daily Mile, they get some love. I tried a Nathan hand held for the first time last weekend. It was okay, I have to get used to carrying something, but it's designed well to not be too big of a burden. It had a little pouch with just enough space for a Gu and my car key. My…

I'm a huge Brewers fan since I've lived here for 15 years. They are notlooking so great this year, but they're still my team! My fallback team is the Cubs, since I grew up attending their games and have a family full of Cubs fans. It's not the greatest combination of teams to root for, though!

I know absolutely you can do it! To put your mind at ease, just tell yourself, if the worst happens, you walk a bit. That is not the end of the world! But you can totally work up to running the miles. Look how far you've come already! Just keep plugging away at it.

That's a super PR! Great job!

Nothing has gotten me more motivated to go complete the run on my schedule than reading other people's progress. Does it for me everytime!

I'm also hoping to run a half marathon 9/22/12. Would love more virtual running buddies!

I'm hoping to do my first half in September this year, add me please!

Hi, my name is Diana, and I'm from Wisconsin. I started running last summer with the Couch to 5k program, and am now hopelessly addicted. I love the concept of powering myself to further distances. My longest run to date is 7 miles, last weekend, and it was a nightmare. I wasn't fueled properly, my legs and knees were…

I did my first ice bath this past weekend after a long run, and followed most of the suggestions mentioned here, but would add that I had my smartphone to surf the web to make the time go faster. I was wondering how long one should sit in the bath, I lasted almost 20 minutes.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Although I think tempo runs mean different things to different people. My understanding is it should be a little faster than your "jogging/warm up" pace, but slower than you goal race pace. If your normal is a 12 minute mile, I would think your tempo would be more around 11 minute mile.…

Gotta agree. The amount of energy people will expend on judging other people's choices is distressing, really. Let's worry about the big things, okay? You know, poverty, abuse.............. Not somebody's clothing, or lack thereof.

When it comes off slowly, it's more likely to *stay* off. Keep on truckin'!
