I typically go with the lower as well. Great questions. The elliptical does ask me to input my weight. My garment does know my max heart rate. I have not measured my vo2 max though but great thought and I'll do that! My workout today was steady.

Eating beans, hummus, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tofu, tofu pups, nuts, etc gives you plenty of protein. The list really goes on and on.

I agree, there are a lot of processed food on your list. Try adding more fruits and veggies, this should also help in your weight loss.
