  • 7 weeks in, 26 lbs gone. Still a lot more to lose, but I'm thrilled to have lost this much so far.
  • The food really isn't that bad, which I found surprising. There are a few things I've tried that I won't ever try again, but for the most part, it's all edible, and some of it is good enough that I could see eating them as snacks even post-MF to help maintain.
  • Two things help me -- 1) I hate the first few days of MF, getting into ketosis. For me, it sucks, I'm hungry and tired and irritable. If you cheat and get your carbs too high for a day, you get to go through that again. Who wants to do that? 2) I really want to lose this weight and keep it off this time, and to that end, I…
  • PippaJo's got a good breakdown, but I wanted to throw in -- I broke it down to a per meal cost, and it's a little over $2/meal ($2.45 I think). Then you have one real meal a day. I know for me, that made it easier to justify, as I was eating out a lot, and this is definitely cheaper than that, not to mention then I was…
  • Hi! I've just restarted Medifast about two weeks ago, I did it a few years ago and lost about 50 lbs, but then I just sort of stopped and gained it all back. This time I'm determined to stick with it until I get to goal, and I've started going through Dr. A's Habits of Health book. I'm hopeful that this time I'll be able…
  • That's what I use too. It's not hard to make, and tastes better than the mixes. Here's a link to the recipe, in case you don't have a can of cocoa powder in the pantry: http://www.hersheys.com/recipes/5672/%22PERFECTLY-CHOCOLATE%22-Hot-Cocoa.aspx And it can be made with splenda, if you want to cut the calories from the…
  • I'm never quite sure what to do with this type of situation either. I usually add calories/nutrition info for a tbsp or two worth of the marinade, just enough for the serving I'm eating that meal. If the marinade was a zero calorie or very low calorie, no fat marinade, I might not add anything. Anyway, that's what made…
  • The topics are listed with the most recently posted in at the top. If someone just wants to move something to the top, but doesn't have anything to add, they'll post "bump" in a message. That's all it means, they're just trying to keep a thread up toward the top of the list so others will see & respond to it.
  • Like most foods, if you eat a bunch, they'll increase your waistline -- not because pecans are somehow bad, evil, waist-increasing objects, but because they contain fat, like all nuts, and fat has a lot of calories. That said, if you track your calories & control your portions, you can have a few as a snack and be fine.
  • I had a day/night where I did that, totally unplanned, it rarely happens, thank goodness. I typically eat six meals a day, so I logged my six meals, and then when I ate the seventh, I put it as the first meal for the next day. But I think you're probably right, if it doesn't happen much, it probably isn't too big a deal…
  • I'm glad you asked about this. My treadmill came with a chest strap HRM, but I wasn't quite sure about placement, and couldn't get it to work when I tried it before. The diagram in the book showing it on a lean, muscle-y man didn't really help me any, as I'm anything but lean & muscle-y, especially in that area.
  • I think it sounds like a great idea -- but in practice, it doesn't work for me. If it works for you, great, go for it. For me, I can't always distinguish between physical hunger and emotional desire for food, at least, not until after the fact, and then it's too late. Also, I can very easily slip into eating mindlessly --…
  • This is good, it's what I've been eating all week for lunch: http://cleaneatingmachine.blogspot.com/2010/09/load-up.html (I'm new here, is there not a way to make a link live?) Also, that same blog has a lot of other quinoa recipes, maybe you can find something else you like too.
