To be honest I don't think it makes that much difference. I alternate two lengths of each and go about the same speed. I suppose if there's one you feel takes more effort then that would probably burn more calories.

I belong to a gym with a pool and it's where I do all my exercise. I have a bad knee so can't jog or do exercise DVDs. They do aquafit classes which tend to be all women and most of us are over 40. It's great fun.....synchronised drowning I call it. It doesn't matter how rubbish you are because most of it is under water…

Hi from me too. It's good to get to know a few more 'mature' ....in age but not necessarily spirit.... people!!
-
Loads of us....52 here from Warwickshire!

Welcome to MFP, I found the site the same way. I have sent you a friend request.

You're right that we all have to fnd what works for us and stick with it. Ironing is the only thing of this type which I log and it works for me. I have lost more than 30lbs and am still losing.
-
Always have....always will......I have teenage sons and if they catch a glimpse then they can look the other way if they don't like it....I'll sleep and walk around however I like in my own house!!
-
Well I log it!!! My activity level is Sedentary as I sit in an office all day. Standing up wielding the iron for a couple of hours is tiring so it counts. I log it as 'Cleaning light, moderate effort' but only log half the time I actually do. I don't log any other cleaning because I pay someone else to do that.

^^^^^ This works for me. If you order some sort of lean meat (steak or chicken) and say you don't want chips or potato they will usually offer extra veg or salad. Also I ask them not to put any dressing on the salad. If everyone is having dessert and I don't want to feel left out I'll have ice cream or sorbet of they have…

I support what the others have said about the muffins/bread. I manage to keep to 1200 and not feel hungry most days but I eat virtually no bread and very little rice/pasta. I snack on dried apricots, almonds or grapes.

Knees can be very painful.....a physiotherapist once told me they are the most painful joints to have problems with after your fingers! I have different problem but with the same effect.....I only have half a knee cap in my right leg folliwing a car crash 21 years ago. The best all round exercise I can do is swimming and…

I have never read the books or seen a Harry Potter film I keep the loose change I find in my son's pockets (on the other hand he is only 17 so it was mine to start with!) I have several pairs of shoes I have never worn
-
Of course......they would look a bit weird though with socks and 3 inch heels :0
-
I'm interested in this too.....similar age.....similar knee problem....but my ankles are fine....at least they have been up to now!

Twinings do a range of fruit infusions. I like the Strawberry and Mango best. I tried green tea and found it totally undrinkable!
-
I have been to St Lucia and Barbados and Barbados wins every time.....can't wait till July when we're off there again :-)
-
Me.....I have one particularly bad from a car accident. I cannot jog or run and never will be able to. I can't do squats because the pain is excruciating. I swim or do aquafit and use the cross trainer and recumbent bike.
-
Loads of us.....I'm from Warwickshire and only a few years older than you! Welcome.
-
It works for me! I have knee problems so swimming and aquafit are my main forms of exercise. If you were going to include as a regular part of your exercise I would recommend getting some lessons on stroke technique if you haven't had any in the past. You can expend an awful lot of energy over a short time/distance if your…

It's tough but it can be done. Keep counting the calories and like the other poster said, watch the portion sizes. It's surprising how little a couple of ounces something actually is. I have lost 27lbs since August and I don't have much time for exercise. It's not been easy but it wasn't as difficult as I'd expected…

Because it is a very personal question.......I have a friend who is desperate to get pregnant but can't and another who has suffered multiple miscarriages!

Theakstons Old Peculiar......proper English beer!!!

Hi from a 50s 'girl' just down the road in Warwickshire. I will send you a friend request!
-
There are loads if you know where to look and we don't all lurk in the shadows!!!
-
I agree 100%.....I drink it when I am thirsty and that's all.....that works for me too and I don't worry about it!
-
Yes it's harder to lose but it can be done.....I'm doing it and I'm 50 something!!! Stay positive!

I got one from Lloyds Chemist online for £14.99 on recommendations from here. I couldn't fathom the instructions out and the wristwatch is huge on my tiny arm so it's gathering dust in the drawer. On the two occasions I wore it the readings just couldn't have been right......a full hour in the gym (bike, rower, cross…
