I have tried other things like Weight Watchers in the past too. This site is really a way to change your lifestyle and keep track of what you eat. As long as you keep track of your calories and your exercise, it really works! I started a year ago and the support on here is amazing! Feel free to add me as a friend!

My elliptical shows that I burn about 850 calories in an hour and my Polar heart rate monitor says I only burn about 550 per hour. I was kind of discouraged to find out I wasn't burning all of those calories but I am glad I know what I am actually burning! I got the Polar FT7 and I love it!

Great idea to lay it all out on a poster board for your daughter! I am trying to teach my 2 daughters (10 and 12 years old) how to make healthier choices while they are still young. There is a lot of good information here. Thanks for sharing!

I used to drink Diet Mt Dew way too much and couldn't seem to stop. I would always feel like I wanted a snack with it too. All it took was the dentist telling me that the acid was ruining my teeth. I was losing weight at a steady pace for about 2 months and when I started the 30 Day Shred, I quit losing weight. I ate the same amount of calories the entire time too. I just figured it was because I was gaining muscle since my clothes continued to get baggier.

I have been trying to keep my sodium below 2000mg per day also. I can't believe how much sodium is in food! If I know one meal of the day will be high in sodium, I try to keep the rest of the day low. I try to add fresh fruits and vegetables and stay away from anything canned.
