I love this thread! I am so going to try to be more adventurous at the grocery store. For now, I will live vicariously through you all :) Please keep sharing! :D

Near Buffalo here. :) I have been to Angola!

Lift heavy weights using a structured program. Eat at a reasonable calorie deficit. Hit your macros. Be consistent and patient.

Wegmans carries the Halo Top as well as the Forte brand. Have you tried either of them? Thinking about picking some up next time I go...

I completely agree with this. Great suggestions here.

^This. ^And This. It took me waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than a month to get my eating back under some semblance of normalcy after my break-up. Don't be too hard on yourself OP or make mountains out of molehills. No need to be adding problems to an already difficult situation. It has been a year, and I still…

If they haven't said much and it is something you are concerned over or need more information on, you need to ask them. Emphasize this is a huge concern for you and ask for specific details on how to properly manage everything. Congrats on your bundle of joy! :)

No problem! I love information and did a lot of looking into this stuff before I purchased as well. :)

I have found that serious runners tend towards Garmin products. I am not a serious runner and I do not have one. However, I did start off with a Polar HRM back in the day. It worked for what I needed it for. It all depends on your goals and what metrics you want to track. I now have a BodymediaFIT, which I love…

I know you are vegetarian and not vegan, but I like Isa Chandra Moskowitz's cookbooks. I am a non-vegetarian/vegan and even I like her food! Just something to consider. :)

I am very sorry someone you consider a friend said something hurtful. MFP is a great tool. Make some pals to keep you focused. You got this! You are gorgeous by the way, much prettier than any of the girls in that movie franchise in my honest opinion.

... My brain cannot even with that. You have absolutely no control over that! What did they want you to do, tape/ace bandage the hell out of them??? As for the OP: Unfortunately, since you can't control other people and can only influence yourself, you have two options 1. Do what makes you happy and stop worrying about…

Just try to keep an open mind. Try EVERYTHING, in various preparations. You might like it one way and not another or paired with certain other items. Just keep trying. Don’t write anything off completely, even things you’ve had before. Taste buds change over time. Worst thing that can happen is you hate it and spit it out!…

^This.

My accountant brain loves this! :)

I like the Podrunner Intervals podcasts, but they do have apps I believe that will put signals to walk/run over your own music. I prefer the podcasts since they help monitor my pace with the BPM.

Here is a ranking site I found helpful: https://labdoor.com/rankings/protein I echo the sentiment that protein shakes aren't necessary unless you have trouble meeting your protein goals. :)

Freezer cooking will be your best friend. Also, crockpot and pressure cookers = Best things ever for a busy person who lacks cooking skills (aka me).

^This. Support and hugs to you during this hard time OP.

Now I want bread that is terrible for me, ha ha. Olive Garden or Red Lobster, I'm non-discriminatory when it comes to bread! Red Lobster has endless shrimp right now though... so they may win out!

It is the same sweating for me regardless of water temp :( Glad you found something that worked for you though! :)

I struggle with this as well. I find it is better if I actually do a cool down (low intensity, stretching, etc.) at the end of my workout rather than just heading home ASAP. However, I have not succeeded in defeating the issue and I just accept it as part of my existence lol. I am hoping people have tips I can steal! Sorry…

I was always an afternoon/night exerciser, but decided I wanted to switch to before work for various reasons. I now get up at 4am to workout, but in the beginning it was very hard (and still occasionally can be). I will share what worked for me. 1.) Having everything set out and ready to go. No thinking required. My…

This made me smile. Thanks! I do have the occasional Quest bar though (and Starbucks ha ha). :)

I don't know what the UA app is, but if you are a beginner runner I would look into the Couch to 5k program: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml http://www.c25k.com/

This. I remove them from the can and store them in Tupperware instead. If they look/smell/taste fine and aren’t a weird texture, they are good to go for me.

What did your physical therapists/doctors say? It would be unsafe for your recovery to take random fitness suggestions from random people. Normally, you start out with exercises prescribed by your PT and eventually graduate to things like the stationary bike. You do not need to exercise to lose weight. Diet is the biggest…

HRMs are for tracking steady state cardio only. It is important to note that HRMs are not accurate for weight lifting and will not give you an accurate burn. They are also not meant for HIIT. Temperature extremes and daily burn tracking (e.g. I wear it all day to find out what I should be taking in) are also inaccurate.…

So sorry. Thank you for sharing your story <3

You might want to get your sarcasm meter checked OP… Now, to address the original post: “I'm 19, female, 5'4", and currently at 178 lbs, the heaviest I've ever been. I love myself, but hate the way I look right now.” I get this. I am there. I am 5’5” and started at 188lbs on 8/20/2015. “I plan on making a lifestyle change…
