I'm hoping to wear some kind of themed outfit for the race. Thanks for the advice about the race. I had heard there was a lot of boring on the course. Anything else I should know about the Disney Marathon?

I had always thought that the only reason bacon may not be ok on a Paleo diet is because of the nitrates? As far as cheese, you will miss it at first, then after about a month you'll wonder why you liked it so much in the first place. I sometimes use avacado in place of cheese on salad, sandwichs, etc. The texture is…

Before I really liked avacados, i would mash it up and make my own healthy guacamole and use it as a dip. After I got used to the taste and texture, I now cut it up and put it on salads. I also cube it and saute it in a pan and add it to my meal. It goes well with chicken, turkey burgers, bacon, tomato/spinach dishes.

I've been Paleo for about a year now. I just started back on a serious Paleo diet last week. I realized in the last year that I am lactose intolerant and I'm so much happier without dairy and grains, and I love making new dishes/recipes that are Paleo friendly. I'm still working on limiting refined sugars. My diary is open…

I think you're looking for someone/thing to help keep you accountable? Do you have a good support team in your life? Family/friends/coworkers/gym buddies? Those people seem to help me the most. I rely a great deal on my husband and coworkers that also have a healthy mindset. Weight watchers worked for me right after I had…

It took me a good a month to really get the hang of it. I use coconut and almond flour in baking recipes in place of regular flour. Sometimes you can find them at walmart, they are always at Whole Food/organic health food stores. I usually take a food/recipe I like to make and google it with the word "Paleo" after it and…

I lost 30 pounds last year (from January-May) and mfp was a HUGE part of it. 1. Track EVERYTHING (even ketsup, even a bite of your kids food, even a taste of a dish while cooking.) It helped me get in the mindset that everything put into my body are calories and used as fuel to get the weight off 2. Try to do something…

I've heard of playlists set at a constant pace, where can I find them?

Congrats! My first one is in 2 months and my goal is 2 hours. Thanks for the inspiration to push myself!

What did you eat the morning of your marathon?
-
Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming! I have started eating gel/beanz during runs with no issues. It's something about the oils in peanut or almond butter that don't sit well, and the acid in the banana that doesn't want to stay down while running. I do eat a good meal of carb, fat, and protein the night before long…

I reached my "goal" for my weight in June, but I have been setting other fitness goals for myself since then. Once I decided I was at my goal, I upped my caloric intake to 1440 (from 1300) and I have re-incorporated some dairy and some breads back into my diet. (Paleo 80%) I've also let myself enjoy a few cheat foods/meals…

We have so much in common, I too, have 2 boys, and an EXTREMELY supportive and active husband. I think you should log a PB & J sandwich, but only count it as 10% of the sandwich.:flowerforyou:

Don't go to sleep FULL or even satisfied. Go to sleep not having eaten in 2-3 hours. Ate a big/heavy dinner? Go for a walk (or jog/run.) Starting to feel the beginning of hunger? Drink a glass of water and go to bed! (2nd big secret: LOTS OF SLEEP!)

I just stumbled across this neat website with lots of ideas for kids running. Here is a chart they use to determine how far a kid should run: http://www.kidsrunning.com/kidsrunningdistance.html

I'm a runner. I ran my first mile race when I was 4 and my first 5K when I was 6. Try looking for a kids running club in your area (some schools have them.) They may your best bet for him not getting burnt out and making sure he doesn't over do it. I also recommend looking for kids 1 mile fun runs in your area and…

Great topic and great posts! I have 2 kids and (2 pregnancies back to back with 80 pounds of weight gain.) I have some stretch marks on my stomach near my belly button, too. My youngest will turn 3 next month and I just got back to my pre baby weight and into my pre baby clothes. It gives me confidence knowing I'm not the…

It was when I was 7 months pregnant with my first child. I know I had gained a lot of weight and so that I wouldn't get depressed about it, I asked the nurse each time NOT to tell me my weight. Well, this nurse didn't quite hear me and thought I said, "don't say my weight out loud" so she whispered it to me. At first I…

I don't think it's a myth. I seem to "stretch out" my stomach during the holidays and when I am eating more 'casually' and bigger portions. I do find that the next day I am hungry and need more to feel satisfied. Also, after I have a stomach virus or something that causes me not to eat for a day or so, I seem to eat…

My husband really helps keep me in check. Tell a family member that is supportive and that you can trust to be the person that helps keep you in check. When you're at the restaurant they can remind you of your goals, remind you of how overly full you'll feel afterwards, remind you that it's not worth ruining your hard…

Same here! I'm a teacher and I was a size 10/12 just 6 months ago and now a size 4/6. I sold and gave away all my size 10+. I kept a few of the size 8's that I really liked just in case and some of my favorite pants that I may try to resize. I have been a 4/6 before (I had kids and now I'm done having kids), so I had a lot…

I have honestly been looking for this exercise in the database, and I can't find it.

well, yeah, that too.

I'm sure you look great, don't worry about it. I know that when I get my heart rate up for an extended period of time (20-30 minutes) my face and skin immediately look healthier and I get nice comments from people saying so. It doesn't matter what the exercise is, as long as I'm breathing heavy and my heart rate is up, you…

Your facial expressions in your bump pics are awesome. Great Job on all your hard work, you look fabulous!

You Look Awesome! I wish I had legs like that! I'm working towards my first half marathon now.
