I've recently started parkrun, and the 5k race on Sat am is very motivational for me as regards training. Im only racing against myself at the moment and trying to get my time down from a sluggish 33:59. All my training is solo however, as I prefer to run solo also.

Just got the charge HR for my 40th. Lets see if it can help drive some good behaviours and help me shift 25 kilos
-
I used to be much fitter and have been hampering myself this time round by trying to go off at too fast a pace, like I used to be able to. As a result was struggling to maintain speed more than 10 minutes. Finally bit the bullet, accepted reality and managed 90 mins at 7k/h. Speed can come later> I need to slim a little…

daily, to help understand fluctuations, but only log weekly

What Im doing is eating seperate meals to my wife and kids. No reason why they should labour under my restrictions.
-
this is my new plan, how's it working out for you?
-
The calorie estimation on exercise burn is only an estimation. Most people only use a percentage of those calories to be safe. Apart from that if you're not weighing and logging dietary calories it will be impossible to know how many you are taking in. Several chocolate bars likely cover the exercise calories for starters!

Glad to hear it. the "most important meal of the day" and "kick starts the metabolism" memes were nagging at me so I thought I'd ask.

Steak fried up with a chopped onion and bell pepper, maybe an egg also!

as i'm set to 1 lb per week that makes sense. Is it working for you?
-
That one gives TDEE 2423 - 1938 target calories, which closely approximates to MFP, so I'll breathe easier for q while - Thanks :)
-
That's the thing though, I have at least 5 stone to lose (70 pounds) im currently 240 @ 5 foot ten I used the sedentary setting, as I track exercise separately and eat back a percentage (to allow for inaccurate burn) if hungry
-
Im restricting carbs. My wife cooks for herself and the kids, I make myself something later when I get home from work. Simples.

The temptation at my place is the metric buttload of donuts/biscuits/choccies that are generally in the kitchen area as its always someone's birthday and they bring in treats. I have learned to live with this situation, and ignore these foods. Sometimes however a colleague brings in a selection of savoury treats such as…

Stick with it, give it more time :)

I don't know my goal weight either, but have quite a chunk to shed. Will worry about end point when much nearer to it!
-
Generally to lose weight you try to create a calorie deficit. Assuming your total energy outlay is the energy needed to live at whatever your standard daily level of activity is PLUS any additional dedicated exercise you do, you could eat enough to cover your standard activity existence and rely on the exercise for…
-
Yes, unless you are intending part of your deficit to be exercise induced rather than gained through eating less. Many people only eat back a percentage of exercise calories due to inaccuracies with exercise calorie calculation.

im back on it for 2015. Got my distance back to 6 miles (67 minutes) goal is 4 times a week. Eventually will turn one or both of my w/e runs into a longer distance
-
I find my weekend runs at 11 am much easier than weekday runs after work. Presumably due to having eaten more recently at weekendw
-
I think its more a case that reverting to previous habits will of course mean your body reverts to previous weight. Not a case of "fat memory" just a case of same excess calories having the same result.

soda & lime / soda & blackcurrant generally available in most pubs
-
Treadmill, just because I much prefer jogging as an exercise.
-
im only doing treadmill work at the moment as I don't feel ready to hit the streets until I slim down some.

Hi I'm in Bolton and recently returned to MFP after a long hiatus.

Got my BWFC one for £370, prices have been static for 7 years.

At one point I was doing intervals virtually every session. will back off on those for a while to see if the issue resolves
