Nutrient dense food is probably the better word choice. But, yes, definitely do your homework on the food.

I never worked with a personal trainer that said banging weights was part of the routine. Tempo I understand but letting the weights fall and hit each other like that means that they are not maintaining control of the rep.

I have to agree, the perfume is got to go. People are going to sweat and I am ok with that smell, its a gym right? You have to expect it. My other pet peeve: I don't understand the (mostly older) women who show up at the gym at 6:30 in the morning with a full face of makeup on. These are usually the types that do 2 or 3…

Amen, love thy self.

Hi and welcome! You have come to the right place. Some of us here like you are in the same boat. This is a great site to help you track your meals and exercise (this does work) and a blog to post about anything and everything frustrations, happiness and even your failures. You are welcome to "friend" me. I have a little…

Same thing, that damn desk. I have a portable stepper under my desk and dumb bells to work my arms. As time allows, I hop on the stepper for a quick burst or do some reps with the dumb bells. I just started doing this this week so I cannot report on the progress.

Goals: Overall target weight: 175 Exercise at least 4 x a week (minimum 45 minutes). Right now, I am on target. Loose 5 lbs by Oct 4th (if not more). Overall loose at least 1.5 lbs a week. Drink minimum of 64 oz water a day. Get to bed by 10 pm every night - cannot underestimate the power of a good nights sleep. Stop…

Hello Everyone - My name is Ilene and I am 43 years old. I have always been the chubby girl in the group. With a sit down job, I have become more than chubby (I am 249 and 5'7")! This week I finally buckled down and started my new eating habits and work out routine. So far so good. I actually am nice and tired at the end…

That is a great idea! Instead of rewarding yourself with food... As for the late night snacking, of which helped me add on 59lbs, I stop at 8 pm, no exceptions. Its hard but, until I get into the habit, I always check the clock. If I must have something, I drink water.

Anything processed is bad for you. If it comes in a box, don't bother. Stick to protein, fruits and veggies.
-
Most fruits and fruit juice is high in sugar. Sugar is bad. Does that make sense? Water is better, especially if you are going to fast.

Wow just WOW. Thank you fro the inspiration. You look awesome!

Hi, I just joined this group. I have identified what makes me eat (now that I finally realize thats what my problem is!) 1. Bored 2. stressful situations 3. Anger. When I am angry at someone or something I tend to head right for the fridge or the nearest fast food restaurant. 4. Depression I have started practicing asking…

I joined one. The gym by me is sufficient for my needs. Problems I have are: I was told it was $20.00 a month and my contract states this but I am being charged $28.00. I am fighting with the billing company about it. The owner of the gym will not do anything to help. He contracts with the billing company so its really…

The chores I have to do at home and where I'd rather be (like the beach or at a spa).

LOL. Yes, muscle weighs more than fat. Have someone do a body composition analysis and find out how much body fat you really do have...

YAY! It's always great when you can fit back into your favorite jeans.

Good job! Just goes to show that it is mental challenge not necessarily a physical one.

I am not consistent about checking my progress. I usually measure myself with a tape measure maybe once every 6 weeks. For the actual weight maybe every two weeks, sometimes once a week or once a day depending upon how neurotic I am feeling.

Seeing a therapist that specializes in your particular eating disorder helps. Check with your medical insurance to see what they cover in the way of mental health care. If you don't have health care, then be diligent in eating nutrient dense food (get the most nutrition out of what you are eating), counting your calories…

I have gotten off to a rocky start as well. April Challenge: 1. cardio for an hour a day (2 30 minute sessions so I dont wear myself or my bad knee out). 2. Stick to 1200 cals a day (after all the sugar and carbs on the weekend, I need to eat clean). I'm sitting here in my work out clothes ( I work from home ) waiting…

Muscles are bigger so what did you think would happen? Cardio is better for losing fat.

Welcome. I too am starting over. I have exactly 100 lbs to loose myself.

My dietician recommends drinking water or any non-calorie, caffeine free drink between meals. That will keep you full.

Hmmm, how are pop tarts and ice cream bad for you... Let me list just a tiny percentage of articles on the subject of how sugar negatively effects the brain and body: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/09/02/fructose-affects-brain-health.aspx http://rense.com/general45/sguar.htm…
