  • Good morning! J4T: keep my perspective with my 6th graders. Enjoy my opportunities to exercise. Work on grading. Log my food.
  • While it will track heart rate and steps, you can also manually add your other exercises such as yoga, pilates, etc. You can also order your fitbit off their website. Good luck!
  • Have you figured out why you overate/made poor choices? Just because you went out with people to a restaurant doesn't mean you get to free feed. Did you not want to be a wet blanket? (People pleaser) Did you feel you deserved it? (Entitlement) You will continue to have ups and downs in your healthy lifestyle journey but…
  • Why is hunger a bad thing? It's a reminder that we now pay the price for bad choices we made in the past. Forget the pills, embrace the hunger and plan healthy strategies for not eating. Drink a glass of water, walk around the block, do 25 jumping jacks, phone a friend. Pills cannot replace a healthy mentality. Take…
  • Don't stop doing the next right thing. You will reap a reward if you keep pushing through. Go get 'em, tiger!
  • I used to teach ballroom dancing but have a ballet background. I would suggest frequent light meals/snacks. Whole foods including a good dose of carbs as well as protein. And I would also add that during your intensive is not the right time to have a calorie deficit. Please eat to maintain the amount of dancing you will be…
  • My husband said Richard Simmons. ;) I really like Leslie Sansone and Mari Winsor.
  • Hi, Lynn. I have sketchy knees so running is out. I really enjoy Leslie Sansone walking videos. Great cardio, some firming and toning and very little strain on the knees. I also enjoy ballroom dancing as I find it really strengthens and protects my knees. And pilates for my core.
  • And don't forget, the minute you stop taking said pills, the weight comes back. Proper diet and exercise are the only way to do it. The discipline of practicing self control will be what gets you to your goal. Set your mind on healthy living not quick fixes.
  • There is actually a product that runners use that prevents chafing. It goes on like a deoderant stick. My husband uses it. He gets it from a shoe store that specializes in runner supplies.
  • Hi! I have rosacea. So even in my 40's I have acne. Can you go to a dermatologist for a proper diagnosis? If your skin is not responding to regular treatment it could be rosacea. I have to keep my face very clean, heat and sweating aggravate it, I only use make-up for special occasions. There are also foods and drinks that…
  • for me, I find that having coffee throughout the day works to curb my hunger. Now, of course, it's decaf, but it's still coffee. And I make sure my snacks are vegetables. Fruits (like apples) tend to stimulate my appetite. I also find that once I added about ten almonds to my breakfast-my hunger was substantially less. It…
  • How awesome is that? And how awesome are you! That moment was worth every bit of blood sweat and tears to lose that weight! Congratulations!
  • I'm 5'5" and 145. My doc wants me at 115-I have a small frame.
  • Now I'm hungry! Yummy!
  • Reminding myself to eat my fruits and vegies...
  • You did a great job! I'm very impressed...
  • Good morning, all! I hope everybody slept well since it's a big day today! Today is the day you decide what decisions you are going to make to make your life healthy and happy. Don't let anybody decide it for you! Stand strong! Love to all...
  • Dang! I'm in-how much do I need to walk to catch up? When is our deadline?
  • Why don't you call and ask if you would be able to have your steak (or chicken) prepared without oil or or have the gravy on the side. Many restaurants will accomodate special diets. And concerning the salads... I consider anything that is a vegetable as a "medicine" that I must take everyday in order to be healthy. If you…
  • My Dearest Chiclet! Are you sure that your mother isn't my mother? My mom is mean, too. It's hard to believe I turned out as "good " as I did based on the way I was raised. We've been on that merry-go-round that you've described for the past two years. God bless you and your patience. I know it isn't easy-I was slender…
  • While people may say "you don't look like you need to lose weight", what I actually hear is that they don't want me to change so they don't have to be accountable for the way they look. Or, they are co-dependent and tell me what they think I want to hear. Regardless, since my doc wants me at a certain weight, that's the…
  • Oh, my goodness. How wonderfully affirming! I'd also like to say ditto for you, too. I also appreciate the time you took out of your busy day to touch lives in a positive manner. Way to go!
  • For me, I can't do anything with sugar. End of story. Once I start I can't stop. So therefore, if I need something before bed, I drink 8oz of skim milk. It should help me sleep and boost my calcium intake. And I have to tell myself the following: being hungry is not a bad thing. The pain of hunger is a reminder of all of…
  • Another thing is to double check your portion size. Sometimes we pay a little less attention to the portion sizes as we diet for long periods of time. You could also be building muscle, retaining water, etc. Hang in there-this will pass. Do not be discouraged. You've done a lot of hard work, so don'ts be derailed from a…
  • I saw your post and can totally relate! I have some bad knees and a mediocre back. I also tend to get tendonitis fairly easily. I love the Leslie Sansone walking dvds. Very easy on the joints, no difficult moves, very good at getting the heart rate up. I also do some pilates dvds. Pilates can change your life by building…
  • While having "mocktails" is admirable, they would still be empty calories. I think it's time you re-evaluate your friends... True friends stand behind you and support you. The friends you have currently want you to stay the same so they don't have to change their lifestyle or so they don't feel guilty about their unhealthy…
