• Excellent point and exactly why its working for me this time around. I did NOT set a goal weight because it makes the whole process seem huge and monumental. I'll know when I get there when I am content with my weight. In the mean time all I am concerned about is TODAY. I eat the things I like, just less of them and many…
• Menopause. Was thin my entire life til that hit. Had 2 kids, went right back down to original weight. Then menopause hit & its been a battle ever since. What a booger.
• Our newspaper had an article on tips on losing weight and the author said not to skip meals because you would go into starvation mode. SKIPPING A MEAL!!! LOL OMG how rediculous this has gotten. Normally I just skip over the starvation mode posts because they make me want to scream. I'm with you on this one!
• Agree. Occassionally, not a big deal, but daily? no.
• Tootsie Roll Pop. It lasts forever (don't bite it), satisfies the sweet craving, and is only 60 calories.
• I used to use Hidden Valley Ranch fat free until my dr suggested to go with Paul Newman's dressing. He said that because the profits go to charity they can afford to use the best ingredients. He suggested a balsamic vinegarette or one with olive oil but I wound up using the family italian recipe light. LOVE IT
• Wonderful post. highly appreciated. Congrats on your determination and your success.
• Reading your post got me googling and I found another excellent article (4 pgs long). http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/the-facts-on-leptin-faq Great reading. Thanks for sparking my interest.
• I also use sugar free syrup "Maple Grove Farms" which is not sweetened with aspartame, but rather Splenda, so I'm fine with it. In fact, I really enjoy it. My husband takes a little of Smuckers sugar free Strawberry Preserves (again, NO aspartame, sweetened with Splenda), heats it up for a few seconds in the microwave &…
•
Exactly what i thought after reading the OP. You SAY nothing else changed, but by science something had to have made him drop is calories intake. Since the diet soda has so little, it must have been something else, either willingly or unwillingly.
I think the "science" is pointing in the direction of what…
• Seriously I totally pooh-poohed the articles. I laughed at them and thought they were rediculous! Google it and read up on it.
• If you google "diet drinks and weight gain" you will see tons of articles on it and the reasons why it prevents weight loss or in some, actual weight gain.
• As soon as I see an "I'm not losing" post I know the bulk of the answers will be "eat more" and sure'nuff there they are. Just try shaking it up a bit -- eat DIFFERENT foods -- have something you've been craving but don't dare eat normally. My husband & I both find that we don't need to eat more on a regular basis, but a…
• My husband has been using Co-Q10 for the past year and the Dr said, "whatever you're doing, keep it up".
• LOLOLOL It sure seems that way sometimes, doesn't it!!
• I am never full, but I strive to be merely satisfied. ggggg Sometimes when I get like that eating something warm does the trick, like a sugar free oatmeal with some natural goodies added
• This is the part that is FINALLY getting through to me: The weight loss is a by-product of healthy & controlled eating that will help me keep this off over the long term. It's the part that gets me through periods of no weight loss when I know I'm doing everything right too. And yes, even my first goal seems like such a…
• Wow, a tad on the snarky side, aren't we?
• Geeeeeeeze, why bother answering at all?? There are new people here every day. The bulk of us here probably came here for weight loss assistance but wind up getting educated on proper nutrition. I know I am. And not all of us spend the entire day here so we may have missed the "other sugar threads". If you don't have the…
• Oh yeah, just had 3 wks in a row with no weight loss, then this week was 2.5 lbs. Just keep at it......do what you're supposed to do.............your body is adjusting.............then the weight loss will start up again. In the meantime, you have made good food choice & ate healthly and developed good lifelong habits that…
• Dr told me to knock off the diet sodas because of the aspertame. He said if I needed an artificial sweetner to use "the yellow one - Splenda". I was drinking about 2 per day and have switched to water. I"ll be honest........I miss it. Has been about 2 weeks now. His other suggestion after looking at my food diary was to…
• My Dr swears by it and suggests it to his patients who are diabetics. He says the added benefit is the weight loss.
• I just broke through a plateau by just keep doing what I am supposed to be doing. I am eating sensibly & healthly and for the first time ever I finally get it that my eating habits are just as important as the weight loss. Shockingly, the plateau didn't bother me at all when in previous times it would have caused me to get…
• I think the "starvation mode" theory is used way too often. At some point it occurs, but the usage here is rediculous. A good article is on the weight watchers site under their science section called "The Starvation Myth" & its a free read.

• We have pot lucks with different church groups and I do NOT track those dinners. However, having learned portion control, I take a small scoop or a sample of a couple different items then fill around it with items like chicken breast and salad. Much different than the days I would load up my plate. Pot lucks are just a…
• I weigh every morning & record when I see a new lower weight, no matter what day of the week it is.
• I attack my sweet cravings right off the bat with breakfast, then it doesn't hit me all day long. 2 Eggo waffles (the ones w/ added fiber & calcium) 160 calories Maple Grove Farms Sugar Free Buttery flavor syrup (1/4 cup) 30 calories
