  • Thanks. I've been adding butter to my stuff, or olive oil. When I can remember! :P
  • Also wanted to add it's SO frustrating thinking about weight when you can't see height. I'd be SCARED to see us at 110 but if you're 5'1 it's reasonable. Also at 170 I'd look pretty good, but again, if you're much shorter it's not a healthy weight.
  • For sizing, I've been a 6 (and with vanity Gap sizing, a 4) but I'm sitting in baggy 15's today, so I'd love to be an 8 the rest of my life. And I'll get there. At that point, if the muscles are there, I don't care if I'm 180, but I know at that size i'd be about 150-155.
  • I am on an atkins like diet, 20 carbs daily, and I can't get my calories in. I guess I could be eating more meat, cheese seems to slow weight loss somewhat and I think I'm restricted to 4oz on my diet. I've been losing up and down, and have Saturdays planned for cheat days, and I'm checking after with keto sticks to see if…
  • I'm 5'10 and I'd like to be 150, because i look good between 145 and 160, and I tend to bounce around pretty quickly. I'm currently 194 and I've been down as low as 182 in the last year... Next year by this time I'd like to be down and have maintained. I'd also like to make it to 160 by my 33rd birthday, and 150 by the…
  • Thanks, I will make sure to supplement protein on training days. I'm planning to put in some running before skates, so that should let me know what my fatigue is etc. :) I'm eating some healthy veggies, so that's a plus!!
  • Wow!! That's inspiration for sure, good job!!
  • My bariatric dr is totally OK with a low to no carb (except from veggies) diet. :) Of course, weightloss is his specialty, but he is great with PCOS also. My fertility specialist recommended him, but now I'm not trying to conceive, just like going back to him. Cheers!
  • My Dr - who's on board - is a bariatric specialist. I don't have 100 lbs to lose, and i don't have a lap band, but i do need to follow a diet to lose weight. :)
  • Lots of others but warmup with: Such great heights - the postal service Ottoman - vampire weekend And burning it with Lose yourself - Eminem Superman - eminem Till I collapse - eminem
  • Sugar-free jello is kind of a godsend in helping with giving me a sweet or 2. No word on if it'll stall me, but I like it.
  • I think for nutrition Almond milk is amazing, but i just bought some to try the other day and I spat it out. UGH. If I can find some yummy coffee drink to make with it, MAYBE I will give it a shot... Someone give me some non-gross uses?
  • Do you track with a heart rate monitor, or do you just estimate?
  • I'm Acacia Finest (like the tank...) with Rideau Valley Roller Girls in Ottawa and I had left my league to NSO and volunteer. Injuries and trouble getting back at it... I was on the home team - Riot Squad. I was skating for a year before injuries, and bouted and did LOTS of scrimmaging. I started derby and it got me nice…
  • My bariatric dr (i have pcos) had told me time and again there is NO reason that we need bread. (nutritionally) or grains. And I BINGE like the freakin' cookie monster when i get some white bread (which is like CRACK to me and causes an insulin spike/feelings of calm and wellness...) Same with any white sugar/flour... Coma…
  • A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step? A thousand happinesses can be found here through taking control, finding tips, supporting others, and the support and love people have on this board. Welcome, and thank you for sharing. Hopefully it was one more step closer to a closed door, and a new one opening!
  • Good call on the above poster - post it on your own as a recipe using your brand of cheese etc. A TON of these foods in the tool are off (because I'm tracking carbs, and if someone isn't they may skip it!!!!!) Similarly I saw an overage of sodium in Fresca the other day and corrected it. Hooray! Also, sodium and water…
  • I like Parasuco, they're awesome, but I don't know if I've worn them at a size 10, or only at an 8. (and initially at a 6 - i miss those days) I've got thighs and a bum too, (and had even then) and they worked. And some were higher waisted. WATCH THE BACK POCKETS and detailing on the back - I have seen WEIRD stitching on…
  • Funny enough when I was exercising (heavily 2-3 days a week like 2-3 hours of cardio and strength) plus a good 30 minutes at least, every day, I had good muscle gains but minimal weight loss (and not great fat loss) BUT when i do atkins-style LOW carb (i'm talking 20 carbs) I am able to lose weight MUCH better.
  • I'm a parent of a child who needs to slim down (not fat, but chubby, and we have tendencies towards it) so, I really appreciate this reminder (it's all common sense.) The one thing I always fought was "dad eats more than mom" - it seemed weird, but when I do a calorie requirement for me, vs a man at my height and weight,…
  • Wow! Just amazing! Thank you for posting this inspiration, you look truly happy!
  • I agree, if I knew in advance I'd be OK!!
  • Parents raise racist and homophobic kids that become bashers, and no one notices to take those kids away - but corrective action isn't meant to punish, it's meant to rehabilitate, or correct a situation, and in the case of children it's meant to protect. If a child's health is truly in danger due to their obesity then I…
  • I second popcorn!! Best healthiest way is pop your kernels in a paper bag (top folded over) until the popping slows. Delicious, and not like microwave popcorn garbage. Also, celery sticks are nice and crunchy!!
  • My sister skipped the Dr for 10 years because of the Dr saying she needed to lose weight - so be careful how the Dr says it, and don't even THINK of letting a fat dr say it (that is what drove my sister crazy.) My son was sad about weight the other day too - and he's got VERY fit relatives, I guess the thing about eating…
  • Thank you for posting your excelllent inspiring pix! My mom and I both need to lose, and I think I'm going to inspire her with your pix. She says she's too big or tired or old to exercise, but I'll bet you FEEL 10 years younger at least! :) Happy Birthday to the NEW YOU!!
  • Print out these, drop them in the bowls, and maybe the bowls will disappear. You can always hope. Or else I agree, donation bowls next to the candy could work, as well as If you are overweight or obese, you may be at risk for a wide range of serious diseases and conditions including: •hypertension or high blood pressure;…
  • My husband brings junk food into the house. But I eat it. And if I stopped, he might stop bringing it.
  • I hear you - good luck with your quest. I'm not a good cook, but with practice it gets better. I swear by making my own soup, and slow-cooking roasts. My soups don't always taste great but I always know what's in them.
