I see. Consider Martial Arts - it has both cardio and strength (and major confidence booster). If someone does try to mess with you, you are better prepared. You will be toned - that's for sure. Whatever you decide - I wish you the best.

To answer the original question, I believe there needs to be a combination of both cardio and strength (not heavy lifting) and it should be changed up because our bodies get used to the same routine.
