  • I am like you....if you can I CAN'T have something that is the first thing I want. Because of this, I won't give up any food. I just have to realize that everything has a cost and so I have smaller portions less often (i.e. seldom) or I make healthier versions of the dish so that I can still get the satisficattion of the…
  • YOU ARE MY HERO!!!!!
  • I have some pictures on my Blog....you are welcome to check them out... http://maninmyshadow.com/2012/06/14/a-picture-is-worth-a-thousand-words/
  • Mine is the name of my Blog that I started to "find the man that hid in huge shadow I projected".
  • EPIC!!!! I know that feeling! I have gone from barely able to go grocery shopping with out severe pain and exhaustion to running 3 5k's a week and training for a 15k and a mud run! Keep up the Excellent work!
  • Wii games are no different than any other cardio exercise. If you are getting your heart rate up and sweatting that is a good indication that you are burning calories. You NEVER have to go to a gym to do "real" exercise, Heck, mowing the grass and chasing the kids around the yard are "real" exercise. Having said that, I…
  • Marc, while I see the "logic" in what you explained, the wild card you have to take into account is the accuracy of the calories that you record for your consumption or burn. On the food side, the calories on the package is the total container divided by the # of servings. So if you have a can of soup and only have half of…
  • I am a big fan of Active.com's app. Although, I just looked up the Jog Log app mentioned above and I can see the advantages to it (like custom interval training)
  • I have found the Estimated calorie burn on the machines to be LESS than the estimated Calorie burn here on MFP. To an extent, it is all a guessing game which is why I am not a big fan of eating back all my exercise calories.
  • Here is how I did it. I started small. I worked on making small changes like not going back for seconds and cutting back on how much I put on my plate. Then I added in changing what I drank to 90% water (or more). Then I moved on to changing my food choices. I had to make it realistic so that I stick to it. It is not…
  • My highest weight ever was 400 lbs. I started in Feb 2011 at 384.8 and have lost over 100 lbs so far.
  • Sky - do you just put enough water in the crockpot to cover the beans? or is there an approximate measurement you use?
  • I want to take the dried, rock-hard beans and make the into somthing I can eat so that I can use them in my recipies
  • Here are some additional thoughts on why you should not eat ALL of your exercise calories back: 1) the estimate daliy burn that MFP is missing a component if you ask me. A 300 lb man with a fair amount of lean muscle mass will burn more calories doing nothing than a 300 lb man that has very little lean muscle mass. (Muscle…
  • ^^This.... My first walk of a 5k a year ago was 57:20. I did the C25K this year and finished a race in 39:40. It is a great program. I would also reccomend at least 1 of your 3 days (if not all) you do off the treadmill I did the first 4 weeks on the treadmill and felt on top of the world. On Week 5 I decided to do a road…
  • Pinky, I agree with you that the person was rude and insensitive in what they posted. I will, however, agree that there are some clothes that do not look flattering on some people. I, for one, would not wear spandex out in public without shorts overtop of them because it does not look good. It shows off all those things…
  • I use Active.com's app and also Map My Run. I agree that you should not try to compare your pace to others. Focus on your pace and improving it. Running for me is all about beating my own time, not anyone else's. Also, I would reccomend that you sprinkle in some road runs into your schedule. I found that the treadmill was…
  • No pill in the world will ever replace Good nutrition and exercise! I am just saying!
  • I am almost at the 100 mark but probably have another 70-100 lbs to go. Anyone is welcome to add me.
  • A Purple Monster - It is a long island Iced Tea but instead of the coke, you have them put Chambord in it.
  • From Monty Python and the Holy Grail: [Holding the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch] King Arthur: How does it... um... how does it work? Sir Lancelot: I know not, my liege. King Arthur: Consult the Book of Armaments. Brother Maynard: Armaments, chapter two, verses nine through twenty-one. Cleric: [reading] And Saint Attila…
  • From the Princess Bride: Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.Sonny, true love is the greatest thing, in the world-except for a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripePrince Humperdinck: First things first, to the death.…
  • did I hear a 'niner in there??? Fat guy in a little coat.... Richard, who is your favorite little rascal? Alf Alfa or is it SPANKY???
  • I could see slight changes as I was losing weight but I really did not see what everyone else saw until I looked at the before and after pictures I did. I was SHOCKED when I looked at them.
  • I stared the couch to 5k a few months ago and did my first 5k on June 9 in 39:40. I am continuing to use it to work on speed now. If you have a smartphone, I would reccomend downloading the app. It will give you audio cue's on when to walk and run and it also allows you to play your own music playlist. I also downloaded…
  • Scales do suck! but it is one way of tracking your progress. I would not step on it too much and would not use it as your only metric for measuring your success but I would definatley do it!. Sometimes, we need the wake up call. When I stepped on the scale and I was 384.4 lbs, the reality of what I had done to my body sunk…
  • I would say the crossing my legs thing would be on my list. Flying with out using an extender belt. Using the bathroom on an airplane (can they be any smaller?) Being able to do things like run a 5k, scuba dive, play volleyball again. Not having to map out the path form my fat @$$ to get to and from my table at a resturant…
