Thanks I'll have to try the Bob Harper ones out! Although, I noticed that he uses a lot of weight-lifting in his routines and I have a rough time with weights. Is it the same for the yoga? I would love to try the TurboFire but it's a bit too expensive for me. Any other ideas?

True and false. You shouldn't eat late at night simply because your body doesn't have enough time to metabolize before you go to sleep. But it won't go "straight to your hips." But if you're hungry then eat. And if all you're having is an apple, I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if you're in your calorie limit for the…

Oh I should add, I know a lot of people like Jillian Michaels but I'm not sure I'd like the 30 day shred. The workouts seem too short to burn enough calories. (According to MFP my body only burns slightly over 200 an hour doing aerobics...and her workouts are only 20 minutes.)

I don't think carbs should be an issue for you right now. Just focus on adding more calories. Add more fruits and veggies. Maybe add some sliced apples to your oatmeal in the morning. And have some veggies as a snack. Or have a chicken salad for lunch instead of the weight watchers. And I second the nuts. If you only eat…

I have to ask, what's apple butter? It sounds delicious! Anyway I basically eat the same exact foods everyday. It makes groceries cheaper. Breakfast: Plain oatmeal with either granola or applesauce mixed in Apple Lunch: Turkey sandwich Pear Dinner: Grilled chicken Spinach or spinach salad with almonds Snacks: Yogurt…

It's interesting that you guys mention the omega-3s. I used to take them in supplement form and they actually made my skin more oily and the same thing happened to my mom.

I agree. Although I think it also has to do with how big your frame is. I have a really small frame with tiny bones. So extra weight on me, even just a few pounds, is really noticeable.

Welcome! I'm in the same boat trying to lose college weight. What's been helping me so far is using MFP for motivation. Add some friends on here and make your food diary public. It really helps me to know that people are looking at what I'm eating so I don't slack as much.

I know a lot of people struggle with soda when trying to lose weight, but personally I don't get it. My thought is that if you're going to indulge in something, why not make it a food so it's at least more satisfying? Stop buying it and you won't have the option of resorting to it anymore. If that's not an option (ie: if…

What I don't understand is how it was even possible for him to eat that little! Since junk food is so high calorie he would have to eat a lot less food overall. What would 1800 calories be? Like 12-15 twinkies? Maybe less?

I don't know about for tea, but for oatmeal you could try low-sugar granola (I like the BareNaked brand), fruits, non-sweetened applesauce, honey, or yogurt. All are great ways of adding some sweetness.

It seems that most of your diet consists of bread, yogurt, and granola bars/sweet snacks. Add in some more veggies and fruits. Then add in some more nuts and other sources of protein. Do you dislike chicken? If not there are so many different ways to cook it and dress it up that I'm sure you can find a way you like it.

That might be the problem itself. Your metabolism slowed down to allow for such low calorie intake. Try raising it to 1200 or higher for a few weeks and you'll probably start losing again.

Almost every aerobics type DVD I've seen has a low-impact variations built in. I do Turbo Jam and since I have weak ankles I do the low impact version which is demonstrated by two of the girls in the background. I think most DVDs are like this.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I will definitely try to take it easier. Maybe just walk a bit instead of doing my usual aerobics. And I've been making sure to take Vitamin C and I always have probiotic yogurts. But I will look into the Flintstones vitamins as I could always use more ways to protect my immune system!

I was under the impression that fiber is also relatively low on MFP because I'm usually WAY over and I know people who need a lot more fiber than I do (I have digestive problems if I get too much.)

I would never suggest diet pills. It's just not healthy. And especially if you have kids you want to be the healthiest you can be. As for exercise, here's how I got into it. I started out slow by going for walks each day. Then I made a playlist and started casually dancing around the house for about 30 minutes a day. Once…

It could be any number of things. Maybe you've gained muscle. Or maybe you've reached a plateau and need to change your food and exercise regime. It's hard to really say. It happens to me every once in a while.

Wow! Good work!

Eggs Cottage cheese Oranges/orange juice Lemons and limes Tomatoes (sometimes) Sweet potatoes And a couple things I like the taste of but my stomach isn't crazy about: Broccoli Bananas Milk Beans I also wish I wasn't allergic to strawberries :(

Multivitamins and juices just aren't going to give you the same nutritional benefits as actual vegetables. What about cucumber slices? In terms of texture they're a lot smoother than other veggies. Other than that, I'm going to back up what others have said and tell you to keep trying. I wasn't a big veggie person when I…

I usually have plain oatmeal with either a container of non-sweetened applesauce mixed in or topped with some Bear Naked granola. Both seem to make it a lot more filling. I usually have some yogurt with it or an apple.

Besides dinner, were you only having the slimfast? I think that's going to backfire in the long-run and it can't be healthy. As far as fruits and veggies: I always buy a bag of celery and chop it into smaller pieces as soon as I get home and throw it into tupperware containers for the week. I eat them with baby carrots and…

I love Turbo Jam. It comes with a few different work outs, some strength training and some cardio. One of the cardios is only 20 minutes and the other is about 40 minutes. It also has a great ab workout that's only 20 minutes (and I find that the last 10 minutes are all I have to do anyway). I've definitely noticed a…

Veggies with fresh chunky salsa. Usually either bell peppers, cucumbers, or carrots. Absolutely delicious and satisfies spicy cravings.
-
Exactly. Go with the hummus. It has some nutritional value in the chickpeas, plus its lower calorie.
-
I think it's just a matter of switching it up since your body is now used to those exercises. If you're looking for more things to do at home, I absolutely love the Turbo Jam dvd. It's a great workout and includes a few different ones, including some strength training and ab work.

My biggest problem during my period is not being able to move. I get absolutely no exercise or even regular movement such as housework done. As for cravings, I usually crave salty, spicy things so I eat carrots and salsa (not as good as chips and salsa but it's better than nothing). That way I can also have a ton since…

I'm 22. It's great that there's so many people in our age group on here, I never would have guessed. It's great that we can help support each other and share tips. I think it's really different than most other times in life, especially if you're living the college lifestyle. So I think we can all relate much better on the…
