I haven't been on MFP for a few years, but realized I need to track calories and exercise, and also need some accountability, so this group seems like a great thing! I've been cycling to work, which is 8km/5mi each way, but haven't done much to modify eating/drinking. Looking forward to this in August!

Where in your leg? It may actually be your back pinching the nerves that run down your leg. Make sure you are using proper form when lifting, especially squats. Do some extra stretching and ab work when you workout.

Even though you've been doing some stretching, I would recommend some core strengthening exercises prior to jumping right into yoga. Eggs (Egg Beaters if cholesterol is a worry). Put it in stir fry, whip up a veggie omelet. Egg Beaters are also pasteurized, so you can put them into shakes for a protein boost.
