Not eating enough calories stalled my weight loss. I would burn 600 calories at the gym and only eat 1200 calories the entire day. Once I started netting at least 1200 calories, the weight started coming off! :)

When I don't make it to the gym, I use my wii fit. There are other work out games for the wii also, the only other one I have tried is wii Zumba and it is a pretty good work out.

Thanks!! Did anyone notice a weight gain or loss difference when they first started drinking a lot more water?

hmm I was looking at your diary and it looks like most days you have a net calorie of about 1,000. I'm new to this site but I've been told not to let my net calories go below 1,200 each day. It has been working for me so far, Ive been losing about 2 pounds a week since I've upped my calories when I exercise. But on the…

Yeah, we need some more info. My problem was that I was undereating. Are you netting at least 1200 calories per day?

I'm 23 and I'm trying to lose 50 to 55 pounds!

I make sure my net calories are at least 1200, most days they are over a small amount like 1207 or 1209. I have been very successful with eating my excess calories back. 2 weeks ago before I started tracking my food on here I started burning 600 calories a day at the gym but I know I wasn't eating even 1,000 calories. That…

1. I always use the rule of thumb that women should not eat below 1200 net calories. I normally plan my meal for the day the night before so I know what I 'm going to be eating and if I will be over my goal. If I am, then I plan on how much I will need to work out at the gym to make sure my net calories are at 1200 or at…

I never realized how much sodium pickles have! They were always my favorite snack, I would munch on the baby kosher dills all the time. But 1 baby dill has 500mg of sodium! Holy cow. So now I'm cutting back on pickles and trying to change gradually what I eat: graham crackers instead of preztels, etc.

Yes, that is what I have done and it has helped. When I first started back in January I lost about 1lb to 1.5 lbs per week, and I wanted to lose more. I started going to the gym 6 days a week and burning 600 calories each workout. At that time I didn't start tracking my calories but I'm sure I wasn't eating more than 1,000…

I do the same thing! I will plan my meal for the next day all the time.

I'm a little new at this, but it also really depends on your weight/height. If you are a woman eating 2,000 calories a day and you burn 500 calories at the gym that would be net calories of 1500 so no probably not best to eat your exercise calories back. BUT if you are only eating 1200 calories a day and go to the gym to…

When I get hungry I will eat (I will watch the nutrition factors though) and If I'm over my calorie goal I will make sure to burn the calories off at the gym or go for a walk so my net calories are still at my goal.

You probably need to eat a little more since you are exercising for an hour each day. Your body needs fuel when you exercise. If you are tracking your exercise, make sure that your net calories do not below 1200 calories. That is the minimum amount that your body needs. This guy explains "excess" calories extremely well:…

If you are only eating 1300 calories but burning a lot at the gym, your body isn't getting enough fuel and that is what can mess up your metabolism. Try eating the "calories remaining" that your summary tells you, your "net" calories should not go below 1200. This site calculates everything for you and so it makes it easy.…

This is great! Thanks for the post, I'm new and I've been having people explain everything to me and this really helps!!

Thanks everybody! I always thought that burning more calories would help me lose weight quicker, but if I'm not eating enough then it wont. I could burn 300 calories at the gym and still lose the weight that I want to, that is how i am understanding it anyway.
-
Oh, it doesn't sound like I would lose much by eating 600 more calories though.
-
Ok, so yesterday my calorie intake was 1392 calories and I burned 581 calories by exercising. The net calories are 811, and it says I have 589 calories to go. Does that mean I have to eat those 589 calories?

Sorry a bit new to the site: We can choose our own calorie goals though. Is there a calculator on the site that tells you how many you should consume?

I think it lessens the symptoms when I keep up with the same level of activity. Plus, drinking a lot of water (which people should do anyway) will help shorten the length of your period. It does for me anyway.
