The amount you 'should' eat is not only determined by your height, it's also determined by your age, gender, weight, how active you are, and your goals. It's not as simple as 'if you're under 5'4" don't eat more than xyz calories', there are millions of people that are the same height but have different…

Made this yet again last week, I keep coming back to it b/c my sweet tooth loves it. :-)

Honestly, you might want to just take him to the store and have him pick up a few different weights and do some quick basics (bicep curl, tricep extension, overhead press) and let him pick out a couple that are challenging but doable. I think my husband was using between 8-15 lbs the first time through. 15 was the biggest…

You could try a wagon too - you know they have the ones with 2 seats in them - pulling that for a walk would be a good workout! You can check around on craigslist or local facebook selling groups to try and find a good deal. I did not like exercising at all when I first started out. Like, I just plain didn't do it at all…

Also, I average around 2000 per day, some days more when I workout, you are welcome to friend me if you'd like to check out my diary. Keep in mind I don't eat clean so don't judge my occasional Smart Ones or diet mt. dew. LOL

BUMP! I LOVE white chocolate pretzels, can't wait to try this frozen version!!!

Okay, I think I see where you're coming from - I think the whole 'eat more to weigh less' thing is more geared toward people who are eating at a much lower range and afraid to bump it up - like people eating 1200 or even less and bascially netting below their BMR number - that's where some people get concerned that someone…

I promise I don't mean this at all rude - honest question - why are you only trying to lose 1 lb per week? You should be able to safely set your MFP profile for 2 lbs per week as you have a decent amount to lose. I started out at 165 lbs and I was able to successfully lose 2 lbs per week with MFP's guidelines - and that…

If you want to do it the healthy way I would say get into weightlifting so you can lean out your abdomen/hips/thighs. And some of it is just your bodytype and bone structure.
-
That does happen sometimes, especially if you're just unlucky that there is no one checking out the forums right there that's really interested in the topic.
-
Yeah that's probably more realistic. :-)

Calorie burn will vary DRASTICALLY according to an individual's height, weight, fitness level, and *effort* during the workout. You can't take some random average and assume that's what you're burning, you have no idea where that average came from. Either get a heartrate monitor or use one of the various 'dance' options on…

The '200 extra' recommnedation does not mean 2000+200, it should really mean *your individual maintenance* + 200. Everyone's maintenance amount is different and based off of your height, weight, gender, age, and how active you are. If I were in your situation, knowing my dr said 'you really don't need to gain a lot more…

I actually feel much more confident now that I have the knowledge and tools to keep the weightgain at a reasonable (healthy) amount and also to be able to lose it again after the pregnancy. One of the big reasons I wanted to lose weight in the first place was so that I could be at a healthier place to start a potential…

I bet it would be fine if you wanted to add in Insanity on the cardio days or just replace the Chalean cardio with Insanity if you prefer. I'm thinking about buying some Turbo Jam or Turbo Fire to mix up the cardio b/c I do like her style but I'm getting tired of the same thing.

I just got a BodyMedia Fit armband a little over a week ago and it has really opened my eyes. I thought I was 'sedentary' except for my exercise, boy was I wrong! On REST days I am burning around 2200-2400. So I am currently eating at least 2000 every day. More on heavy workout days. I'm 122 lbs and MFP said my sedentary…

Yeah the best time is: 1 - whenever you can actually fit it in and 2 - whenever you feel is your own personal preference :-)

I'm at 260, can't wait to make it to a year!
-
Amen to that - I can look at my calorie burn graph at the end of the day and VERY clearly see the times when I'm cleaning or playing with the kids or basically anything that's not me sitting on my butt. Getting off your butt tends to burn more calories than if you don't get off of your butt. When I first started working to…

You're not seriously letting a drunk idiot with no filter get you down, are you? You've done great! Don't let that guy dictate how you perceive yourself. You have obviously worked hard and done really well. Next time shout an expletive back and go on with life.

I am finishing out week 2 of Push. Kind of bummed b/c I need to go out and spend money on bigger weights for my lower body exercises - 25 lbs is not cutting it on some of them any more.
-
It will be if you bump up those weights. ;-)
-
These were pretty yummy the last time I made them. I think I'm going to make these again today, and maybe try adding in a scoop of protein powder and see what happens. :-)

Mine was a little skeptical I think when I first started trying to lose weight - I'd talked about wanting to lose weight in the past and I think he thought this time was going to be like all the others, although he did not say anything negative he wasn't all 'yay go for it!' either. After I dropped some poundage and other…

Fantastic, you are doing great!!!

dang too slow - 2733 + 43 = 2776

Bumping for a fresh crowd. Anybody?

My husband's weightloss has been stalled for a couple of months - I talked him into getting the BMF earlier this month and he's already down another 4-5 lbs. I say get it. The info it gives is really fascinating. We're contemplating getting one for me now, too.
-
I don't think it would be very accurate if you kept it on the whole time - you're not going to be walking the entire time you're there, you're also going to be standing in line a lot and sitting down on the rides a lot. You probably WILL burn significantly more calories than on a 'rest' day, but I don't think an HRM would…

When I'm really motivated to work on my gap, I stand with my legs a little farther apart. ;-)
