Thanks. I love squats. not quite enough to get me up to 140 heart rate goal...but I use a lot of squats in my moves for sure, from Pilates to dance to combo (lift and squat at the same time). the pain is inside of the knee so straight squats are OK for now.

Coincidentally, I was just about to dust off my Turbofire! I did not like it but have a change of mind. My right knee has a pin (ACL torn) and little cartilage left. But with Pilates, my legs have gotten strong and steady. This new injury is not related - probably because I did not warm up enough for a HIIT session a month…

Thanks! Unfortunately, hiking would not get me up to 130-140 BPM, my anaerobic threshold. As for gym, I got rid of both my gym memberships and, bingo, I started working out and lost weight ;) I am actually giving away my (new) home elliptical too, but i can do cardio jump on my reformer...and all the other HIIT with or…

Tabata really rocks. And it sounds like something delicious ;)

Big fan of fitnessblender as well, thanks!! I love all the above like squat jumps, guess I just have to love with the sissy version till I can go back to high impact :)

I don't think there is a "best" per se because it also depends on the moves you are doing. Tabata is 20s on, 10s rest (or active rest). Using that as a base, I sometimes up it to 30s active, 5 or 10s rest. My 2 cents

1850 - is it TDEE or NET? TDEE = not eat back. It has included your activities. i.e. You need 1850 each day to maintain your bodily function + the level of exercises yo have included in determining that TDEE. NET = eat back. i.e. 1850 is what you should HAVE in your body each day. If you eat 1850 but exercise (cal out)…

I like JM a lot - DVD and am a subscriber of her online programme. I just posted to ask if I should modify her stuff to be HIIT. The reason is she does do interval but for online stuff, it is rep-based and not time-based. So easy to cheat! DVD keeps the rhythm well. Just ordered Killer Abs myself. Was debating 6W6P vs…

You are welcome. FitnessBlender keeps experimenting and improving I think. Newer videos have count down etc, compared to the older ones. Enjoy!

Also check out the Binge-Eating Support Group. Lots of good discussions there too. You are certainly not alone. It is a common issue. And it is way deeper than "just a habit".

I hear you! Last time, I blogged myself out of it. I find that ignoring that post-binge "fat" feeling is very important. It is hard to not notice how tight your pants are, or how bloated your whole body feels, but once you ignore that, it seems easier to get back on track.

Excellent!

More than understand! Control is actually one of the root cause of BED. Not looking back and just keep going is the best way to get out of the cycle in my experience. That reward thing is tricky! Think of how hard you sweated during your workout and how much you have earned that shower...or how great it feels to be in…

Thanks! 20 pounds lighter is great, any more would be bad..but the relationship with food - mental health - is #1 priority.

Thanks for the encouragement! I am with you re: many programmes - any programme to be honest. That's why I only do cal-in vs cal-out tracking, then onto Phase 2 when I revamp what goes into my diet. I find the whole elimination, good food vs bad food thing is not a strategy for life. I believe in "eat, move and be merry".…

Big cal deficit does more harm than good IMO. I did do the 1200 cals/day (and I am only 5'3") in the beginning. Perhaps I was on a beginner high, it was do-able. But did not take me long to realize it is unrealistic to live life like this forever! OVertime I upped my cal intake AND up my workouts. There is a limit to the…

12 years! Congrats!

Thanks!! I did not have a weight loss goal to be honest. But once I started, I was thrilled to (1) lose weight (2) become a workout bunny. The love for working out and the ability to advise/encourage others is such a driving force. So I never thought about maintenance per se, though by Dec last year I knew it would be…

Are you on the Binge-Eating Support Group? That's a great place too. For now, just ignore and move on. Do you exercise? Best cure ever. I am telling you the same thing I am telling myself :) Make a comeback!!!

I only watched level 1 and seemed so. I just want a hardcore abs DVD to add to the mix.
-
Are you eating too little? You do not want to starve/feel starve because sometime in the future you do need to get back to eating sans deficit :) If you are exercising, maintenance should be easy. My problem is BED and then a long season of flu, throwing my workout totally off track (which is what I am doing now as one of…

Watched the videos on BeFit on youtube. Decided to go for Killer Abs. From what I can see, 6P6W is a combo of cardio and abs which is excellent but not what I am looking for as I alreaduy have plenty of HIIT and cardio in my regime.

Have you talked to your doctor or any specialist? I believe in medication if diagnosed properly. It is NOT a matter of being sad, as you know. It is a biochemical imbalance. If you have diabetics, you would not hesitate taking insulin, right? Same for depression. But it does not mean the pills is the whole answer. You also…

Thanks :) I have not bought it yet, was almost going for Killer Abs as I thought it may be harder. My core is strong; I just want an ab-focus exercise for a change. Guess 6W6P it is!

Point taken :) But I am not aiming for 6 packs, I just want to know the difference between the 2 DVDs, one of which "unfortunately" promises 6 packs :)

See if you can find anything from this post - long list. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1193777-love-fitnessblender-any-other-similar-sites?hl=love+fitnessblender&page=1#posts-18692377 I suggest you follow a programme or two, which gives you a good idea of the overall choreograph. You will learn specific moves but…

I had 2, almost 3, bad months (and BED has not happened for years)....and I can completely relate to your feelings. Yesterday was Day 0 of a new me, I know how to beat this thing because I have been through so many related issues. I have the best support at home and with friends. Glad to know you are doing CBT. I am off to…

Saw that frequently on Japanese noodle menus. I *think* Korean soup as well, don't quote me on this one. Maybe worth googling for those recipes just to try?

I am VERY happy to hear that you are getting counselling. Recognition is the first step really, as cliche as it may sound. Now you will been able to share with a professional and get some advice!! I know sometimes you may "click" immediately with a counseller or his/her advice; other times need some shopping around. Good…

Exactly what's happening these days :) What works for me is always mega amount of workouts, like when I was travelling and walked 8 hours a day. But that's not possible outside the vacation period. Hence the whole rethink and experimentation.
