Love Fitnessblender. Any other similar sites?
I like their HIIT and Tabata - free, always something new. I also subscribe to Jillian Michaels online programme (more advanced and customized than DVDs). And of course my beloved Pilatesanytime.com (got a reformer at home as well). Does anyone use similar sites? or Apps? Recommednations? I am open to all kinds of…

Low - 111. Now -114. Set point or maintenance failure?
I have been trying not to freak out over the few pounds gain, but I am getting curious how much I am supposed to weigh! I went from 134 to 110.5 in 2.5 years, little pains, just log, exercise etc. In other words, no starvation. BUT I did start with 1200 cal/day....then 1300/day....then 1500/day....so there was some serious…

Countertop scale - recommendations?
I am thinking of getting a scale for weighing food. Not going to go too anal over it though, so prefer an economic option that does not take up too much space. Recommendations? Thanks!

Physique 57
Happened upon it while browsing Amazon books. On their site reading, well, marketing fluff. Anyone tried? Verdicts?

Should have taken more selfies!
I did not really have any "before" pictures because for obvious reason I did not feel comfortable in front of the camera! 20+ pounds later, I am quite the photo bugs....but with nothing to compare against. Anyone in the same boat? And oh...how do you take a good selfie (for MPF, like showing your abs)?

Calorie tracking is counter-BED recovery?
I am an, um, experienced binge-eater. I have been good for a loong time. Recent relapses made me dig deeper into the WHY and HOW to manage BED. Professionals state that BED is related to strict dieting. Many BE sufferers had their first episodes after a starvation period. By starvacation, it may not be technically the…

Want to modify HIIT...knee is injured
Hi there, It's been almost 1 month and my knee is still fare up. Today marks the last of my medication for the inflamed ligament and I will revisi the dr. Meanwhile, for various reasons, I need to get back to my routine, which used to be HIIT. For the HI portions, I am relying on jumping jacks, light jogs, etc.....but it…

JM's Online Circuit training- Any subscriber here?
I like JM and started with her DVDs. I have been using her online training (monthly sub) as well. Thinking I should modify it to be more like HIIT as her online programme is not really time-based and it is easy to cheat. Typically I use FitnessBlender for HIIT. Any thoughts? THanks.

Did not plan Maintenance - oops
I did not make any big plan to transition into maintenance. Kind of was in a happy, yeah-new-me, zone. Now I know why people say it can be hard! Probably as a backlash to almost-3 years of tracking, my binge-eating disorder has returned...like after 2 decades! I managed to get out of the cycle quicker than before, now that…

Explain BED to people
Do you tell people about your BED? I do. I regularly and openly share my history of Bulimia, my life-long depression (not suicidal) and BED that has raised its head again. I hope you do the same. On MPF, in real life, with family and with friends. I really like this article - clear, to the point, including a section on how…

Clearing "Pasta" portion/cal confusion!
OK, folks, it is a FAQ. And I am tired of forgetting/mis-measuring... So, take De Cecco Spaghetti No. 12. ... 85g = 300 calories - is that cooked or uncooked? - using fistful/deck of card kind of eyeball measurement, how much? Thank you!

Sleepy = Binge
Going through this now, so a reminder that if you are going through a BED cycle, you may want to really focus on getting better sleep. When you are tired, your body produces more Ghrelin, the hormones that indicate to your body that you need food. I certain see a correlation there. When I am tired but somehow delay my…

Eggs and Cholesterol (from Jillian Michaels)
Just got this in my inbox.. thoughts? ___________ The Truth: Not only are eggs a fantastic source of lean protein and heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, but they contain some pretty important nutrients. One large egg has roughly 186 milligrams of cholesterol — all of which is found in the egg's yolk. Since dietary…

Calorie Cycling
Quite like the idea because I get to have high cals on some days, lower cals on others, matching my workout plans AND give my calorie-watching mind a bit of a rest. I am in maintenance and think this may be a good plan? If you have done it, would love to hear more. Thanks. (a good overview here…

How do you keep positive after a period of binge-eating?
Hi, The best way to get out of the binge-cycle is to start afresh. I have learned to ignore the bloat, ignore the tight pants, resume normalcy (eating, exercising)... ...but of course there are moments when I can barely hang onto such "positive thinking". Images of me being fit just 1.5 months ago, the feeling of being…

2 good days, 1 bad day, SIGH
The subject line said it all. Just when I thought I was on a good way out of the cycle. I feel like....I don't know, crap in general.

Good advice from Jillian Michaels
Think this is pretty neat so I want to share with you.. "Let Go! To change the present, you have to let go of your past. Forget about the times when you binged because you were upset, hurt, angry, or depressed. The past does not define you; the present does. Having a crystal clear vision of the future affects your behavior…

Your thoughts on this article "Truth about Calories"?
I have lots of success with MFP's cal in vs cal out because my main problem was portion control. Moving forward, I want to dig deeper into this issue - surely health is more than an equation. Would like to hear your thoughts/approach/ experiences. Thanks

Polar HRM reading 00 (tried ALL fixes)
Hi there, I am about to throw this thing into the bin! My FT40 is quite new (end of July). It replaces my FT7 which was very worn. So the reading is 00. I have changed the battery, clean the strap, do all the proper stuff...still 00. Do you think it is defective or is there any other things I can do? I am getting rather…

Hi there, I need a battery replacement for my Polar Heart Rate Monitor. Are all CR2025 batteries the same? Or do I have to get it from a Polar store/authorized dealer (PITA!). Challenging myself - Post Binge Happy Plan
If, like me, you are trying to get out of a binge cycle, you probably feel frustrated, disappointed, hopeless, and even lost. I am tired of feeling that. Most of us know that it is a slippery slope ...binge, sad, binge, sad, binge, sad.... I had blogged my way out of it 2 months ago. But obviously the relapse - part and…

Quiet on this board - my update
Sorry, I have been lazy in checking in! How is everyone doing? Any good Pilates news to share? Lately I have been struggling with my roll-ups! I have never had the body to do it naturally...but I once mastered it. Been reading up on it and realized that it is not just the strength of the abs - mine is strong - but also how…
