  • I've known a lot of thin trainers that didn't know a word of what they were saying. I'd ask them questions and they would give me a blank stare. Thin doesn't always equal healthy....I mean, I can starve myself, too, but it doesn't mean I'm healthy.

  • If you have some, you could use a dumbbell on the scale to verify the accuracy (or something else of which you know the weight). Sometimes if the scale isn't on level ground it will be off. Just keep testing places until it gets to the right dumbbell weight.

  • A lot of the weight could be from sodium intake and water retention. Was the food salty? If you eat a lot of salty or spice-laden foods you can gain weight fast but it is only water weight, which should come off again faster provided you cut back to normal sodium levels.   • Digital or analog? :) I use a digital and put one of my hand weights (10 lbs) to check the accuracy and move it accordingly. Sometimes the tilt of the floor or whatever makes it go off -- but my digital is rarely off by more than 0.4 pounds. Good luck! :)

  • Also, when you build lean muscle mass through exercise, you will burn calories faster when you are resting the more muscle you have throughout your body. That means you can eat more and still be toned and have a higher metabolism. Imagine burning 500 cals an hour just resting...how long on the treadmill does that take?…
