Feel free to add me. I'm an eater.

Thank you all for the kind words. I don't know why people get in such a hurry to drop weight. I'm in it for the long haul so rate of loss is insignificant compared to long term total loss and maintenance...not to mention I have enough calories to actually enjoy my meals.

Honestly figuring out how many calories I burn in a given Krav Maga class, lifting, or a day walking around on the range (quarry gravel/elevation changes) is about impossible. I ballpark it conservatively and focus more on my overall activity. I've used your spreadsheet as well to tweak things so thanks for that. As far as…

I had mine out after intermittent attacks due to stones over several years. Finally decided it wasn't worth the pain - it was excruciating at times. The surgery was easy outpatient lapro. Only side effect was bathroom frequency which was easily solved with a script I take every day. I'd take the pills over the pain and…

Thanks so much to everybody for the insight. I have only lost 2-3 pounds in the last six week following a 2300-2500 calorie goal. I'm about 12 weeks in and had much more success at a higher calorie goal the six weeks prior (2500-2800). I am going to eat at maintenance for 4 days in an attempt to break the plateau, then…

IMO, this is not about you being "fat" or not. This is about a dysfunctional relationship. It sounds like your mother was just looking for a way to belittle you. She could have commented on your job/attitude/man/house/whatever, but she picked your butt this time. Why are mother/daughter relationships so complicated? I do…

After looking through this thread I am definitely going to stop hassling my wife about the cost of her color and style. $17 plus tip for me.

Wow! Very encouraging, thanks for sharing.

Shave. Haven't had a full shave since 2000. Curious what I might look like. I also have a couple big boy toys on my list.

I really like this one ^^^ Do not let yourself be held back by self-imposed limitations.

I guess MFP can close up shop now. This overeating issue has been solved! Back to the OP. Try to explore the healthy options you like until you find what fills you up. It's different for all of us. I can eat steamed broccoli about everyday. The mind tricks work well too. Healthy filling snacks to curb hunger between meals,…

Bumping to tag. Have one of these on my bday list.

This^^^ Find a lifestyle you can live with for the long haul. It's okay to start at that kind of deficit, but it's temporary. Are you getting enough protein? Good luck on your journey, and congrats on making the decision to get healthy!

Recent soda addict here. I gave them up in December. I considered Coke/Pepsi my biggest vice and tried to cut back, but ended up back at square one. I honestly don't trust myself to have them without falling back off the wagon. Maybe one day. Keep up the good work, OP. It does get easier.

I read this entire thread, and feel the need to share my personal experience. I do not believe in absolutes like many of the posters. I agree that the benefits of this drug outweigh the risks for very few patients, but that is for the doctor and patient to decide. I have had the same family doctor since I was a kid and he…

It probably has a lot to do with what you're eating. What's your typical intake?

Maybe some lighter impact yoga impact yoga or Pilates would help you sculpt while you relax and clear your head. You definitely need a break from the grind by the sounds of it.

That's really inspiring. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations on kicking smoking, too. People have told me it's the hardest thing they've ever done. I didn't think I'd ever kick my soda habit, but it's been about 12 weeks since I've touched one.

As you get started be sure to take pride in small victories and learn from failures. It's a marathon not a sprint, and it can take awhile for some of us (myself very much included) to reprogram ingrained bad habits. Congratulations on taking that all important first step. ~Joe

Great post Nenshali. Sarah: I can relate with you, but you'll have to decide if the reasons are similar. I have had similar feelings, and that is partly why I have tried and failed at this off and on over the last decade or so. I was always the fat kid and came to associate it with my identity. It made me a stronger person…

This is great advice. Find your passion for it, whatever it is.

Water weight can vary enough in 7 days to cover any loss you may have. Trust yourself if you're doing the right things. Get on the scale less often if it discourages you. Try a tape measure.

Nicely done! I have found even though these victories seem small, they can be monumental in the long run. You are empowering yourself to make better choices. Keep up the good work.
