  • Found another coral snake on my morning walk today. Second coral snake this week in my neighborhood that I've seen. The first one was a big one. 3 ft. that's a big coral snake. If it had been in my yard it would have quickly been a dead snake. I don't tolerate poisonous snakes in my yard with small grandchildren. And coral…
  • Did 7.2 miles this morning with my daughter. Marathon training week 3 complete! Now I'm here with 12 of the 13 grandchildren who are soon heading to my pool. I'm not going to swim, just watching today. Is that from the Crow Canyon area? They are SO tough on people looking for artifacts on public lands now in SW Colorado.…
  • Wedding 39 years ago was small. We didn't invite anyone and walked in (late) to the ceremony to find about 35 people there. Now that was a shock as we didn't expect anyone except our parents. My dress I found for $20 and my husband actually bought a new shirt for his suit just to please his mom. lol My dad paid for a…
  • It wasn't David's Bridal that closed, it was Alfred Angelo. David's Bridal actually is offering discount prices to brides affected by the Alfred Angelo mess. It's 95 outside right now so I'm waiting for night to go run. I figure it will be cooled off enough around 11 pm..... maybe... It was 78 when I woke up so I'm not so…
  • I did a bit of research on healthcare. Where does the money go? One of the most under discussed aspects of healthcare spending is administrative costs. The Harvard Business Journal calculated that there are ten administrators for every doctor in the U.S. These administrators have no direct contact with patients and yet…
  • I've never met anyone who regretted learning how to sew but plenty of people who wished they had the skill. I started sewing when I was about 6 and have sewed ever since. I made most of my children's clothing and make most of my dresses still today. Shorts are a quick 30 minute throw together and I've done plenty of other…
  • I've been teaching three of my granddaughters to sew. This picture is of one of the 9 yr olds in her project. Her first sewn from a pattern dress. She did a fabulous job. I'm really proud of her.
  • Hah! I thought I'd tracked you down and posted all proud of myself and then went back and discovered I posted on July 2016! lol I've been off grid for a month or so. This past week I spent on a dive boat in the Turks and Caicos. We lived aboard for the full week and did up to 5 dives a day. Here's a picture of me and some…
  • Hey all, I've been offgrid for about a month. But I tracked you down. mwahahaha. Last week I was aboard a dive boat for a week. We live on board for the entire week and dive up to five times a day. I was in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Here's a picture of me with regular diving companions.....
  • Hey ya'll. Been off the grid for a few weeks. Last week I had a super challenge of staying low-carb as I was on a dive boat for a week and no choices in foods. The chef was super though and worked with me to keep my carbs as low as possible and still do the activity that I needed to do. Now I have the challenge of getting…
  • Nuts. I know nuts are supposed to be good fat but not when you eat the whole can in one sitting!
  • I like the cauliflower/cheese crusts but don't always have the time to make them so I found them to buy ready-made and they are quite good. Cali-flour Pizza. No local places sell them but I got them online, they ship them and you freeze them when you receive them. Works out fine, no problems.
  • June goals: 1) stop the snacking. It may *just* be nuts but it adds up! 2) Consistently follow my training plan for the marathon. 3) stay around 20 g of carbs a day 4) do weekly menu plans
  • Been a great challenge. Glad I took part!
  • I just wish I knew how to tighten up my "bingo arms"...... you know the ones I mean... when you raise your arm and your loose skin goes flap flap flap like a flag waving when you get excited yelling BINGO! lol I never had really large arms and I think it is mostly age and gravity. I have tons of arm muscles, quite the…
  • A watch is "Watch for possible tornados" A warning is "A tornado has been spotted in your area" We used to sit and watch the tornados move across the prairie when we lived in the OK panhandle. Some guys used to climb the grain towers to get better pictures of them. I actually had a tornado bounce over my house and didn't…
  • I've never experienced a "whoosh". I drop a slow 1/2 lb. a week if I'm lucky. And as I stand there bemoaning my slow loss my husband is dropping drastic amounts of weight. Okay, maybe not drastic but definitely losing more than me. lol I'm not worried though as I have a lot more muscle than he does and I'm losing inches if…
  • Mumps are on the rise again. The MMR shot is shown to "wear out" now and a lot of people over 40 have not gotten a booster shot when they were older. My kids all had to get one when they headed off to college. Funny though my youngest daughter, who had two MMR immunizations tested to be non-immune to measles and mumps this…
  • I tried to catch up but after five pages and ten more to go I just gave up. So a high five to everyone who did a good job. Hugs to the people who need a hug. A stern "buck-up" to anyone who is stuck in a pity party and a big smile to everyone else. :) I got home from the family trip and funeral on Sunday night. We took two…
  • Macadamia nuts = carb creep At least for me it does. I just don't want to stop. SO.... I am proactive in controlling my portion when it comes to macadamia nuts. I prepackage 1 serving size and then grab one of those packages instead of a handful, which always ends up being 1 1/2 or 2 servings if I take time to measure it.…
  • I feel my squats in my butt and quads. Not too often in my inner thigh unless I'm doing sumo squats. Sumos (wider stance) get the inner thigh more so depending upon your stance, I suppose you can feel them in the inner thigh. :) Wow, I'm helpful aren't I. lol
  • Back home and away from all tempting New Mexican green chili! lol  I'm actually quiet bloated from the carbs that I did have so a short fast is definitely what I'm doing today. I don't even have a desire to eat. Drinking tons of water though because that desert just dries me out and I don't drink enough water while…
  • On my way home from the family and funeral. My daughter (who is also doing LCHF) and I just gave in. We couldn't handle it.... we caved and had Hatch green chili chicken enchiladas. Tortillas and all. It tasted like happiness. lol Tomorrow (or today I guess) back on the strict bandwagon but gosh it was delicious. Now REAL…
  • Egg and chorizo breakfast. Toss-up for lunch, taco bar and finger foods after the funeral. Ought to be okay today. We scoured the town for some macadamia nuts. Not a single one in town. Seriously. Probably better because I'm just not stress eating as a result. Lol. It has been hard to get fat though. Plenty of protein. I…
  • I actually had to laugh when I read this. Shrimp cocktail? I bet they don't even know what it is. Salad is all pasta salad or a Mexican rice salad. Lettuce seems to be an anomoly. In this town the choices are: 6 six down Mexican food restaurants. 3 fast(er) food mexican restaurants (like burrito places) and a Sonic drive…
  • The family went out to eat tonight and I sat there and honestly there was NOTHING on the menu that could even be tweaked to work. Did my best with the food. Had good conversation at least. Talked running with a niece and nephew. Everyone thought we were nuts. lol Tomorrow is Mexican food so maybe I'll find a taco salad or…
  • Headed out for a stressful trip. My mother-in-law died last night so a two day drive. A week or so with family and tons of Me I can food. (No real options. I'll be doing tortilla free enchiladas I guess or chili teller is or taco salad. I can make it work. But the stress..... augh! Went WAY over in calories today but ended…
  • Stop asking Tom. He's not in your corner. Go to an insurance agent and get your own insurance. You can go to a national company but I've often had better luck with an Independent Agent that shops around for the best for me. I don't always get the cheapest policy because I take into consideration the quality of the company…
  • Good job! Love the bling!
  • So sorry for your loss. Take care and don't stress about the food. Take a snack you can eat without guilt or drink tons of water whenever you get tempted. Mostly take care of yourself and those that need you. There are times when food concerns take a back seat because there are other things of importance.
