Vegetarian for almost a year now. I've had my screw ups, but for the most part, everyone in my life knows i'm vegetarian and no one makes fun of me except my dad - but it's only in jest and I know he actually thinks it's cool. My husband's grandmother thinks I'm an alien from out of space though - but she always goes out…

I didn't exercise at first, but I have found it's helped me cope with food. For example, when I'm stressed, I now would prefer to work out instead of stuffing my face. It's all a part of the new life style and not just a quick fix. I didn't want to work out at first - I kind of dreaded it - but the trick was finding…

Most of us aren't really qualified to answer this - but if you are uncomfortable, maybe you should get a second opinion from another doctor?

Did you check your healthy weight? Being only 100 pounds for someone 5'3 seems a bit underweight....

stuffed vegetarian shells using low-fat cheeses & a cranberry walnut salad = 500ish calories.

I've lost almost 20 pounds eating pretty much anything i want. ice cream cake. Regular pasta, whatever. It's just about moderation and keeping that pasta dishes to about once a week. I think vegetable pasta, unless some gourmet spinach stuff, is just dyed. I could be wrong though.

I agree with Azdak. It's like saying a walk outside burned more calories because it was hotter than usual. We all know that sweating doesn't = more calories burned. PS: I do a ton of yoga and I do count it as exercise, but it's always a super low #. I think it's important to log, especially if you do power yoga or…

I recommend you try drinking your meals at this point. Soup. Juice. Shakes. You need nutrients more than ever when you're under the weather.

You can do sit ups and other stomach exercises to tighten and tone the area, possibly losing inches. But like the other said, you can't really reduce weight to just that part.
-
Just drink lots of water and you'll be okay.

I don't really care if someone knows what I'm eating, personally. It's just at whatever the default is. Though I may be more descriptive with that I'm eating so people know there is fresh veggies, etc.

In sept I went on vacation. I was at my absolute heaviest and was like what am I doing in this body?! Since then, I lost almost 20 pounds. You can do it!!!!!! Just decide you will and you will.

I am SORT of in the same boat - accept I didn't eat that great last night, so I am trying to get my butt in gear. For lunch today - I'm having: a pita with hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli sprouts and feta cheese. It's just over 200 calories actually. Will pair with some fruit I think. You can probably get this stuff…

I run a web & graphic design studio

add me too! Been vegetarian for about 10 months and it's been pretty life changing.

I believe the right thing to do is weigh yourself every day, at the same time. For example, I weigh myself after I wake up and take a #2 :) Though the latter doesn't matter, so long as you're consistent. Your weight changes a ton during the day, so don't weigh yourself anymore than once. Record you weight only once a week.…

How about starvation mode?

Dude. I do the same thing, but willingly. It's called calorie hording. I have found this works: Always take easy things to eat, like healthy granola bars, trail mix, bananas, rice cakes, etc so I can eat something while on the move. It's so worth not feeling that sickness when you're realllly hungry. Eat, girl! We can…

You could fill the wrap with some veggie cream cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, and spring mix. That should only be like 200 calories or so. Having no idea what's in your fridge it's kind of hard haha!

Man I was totally clueless!!
-
Lately I've been addicted to bagel sandwiches with veggie cream cheese, spring mix, cucumbers and tomatoes. DELICIOUS and low calorie.

The hunger will come - and when it does, it'll come back with a vengeance. Think pigging out on anything in sight. Ya gotta eat. You're already at a deficit.

I'm so not going to be of any help. As i've been losing weight, c's are shrinking to b's. sadface.

Reese, to answer your question, if any oil has partially/hydrogenated in front of the word corn coil, soybean oil, etc, it's basically trans fat and is just terrible for you. If it just says corn oil or corn syrup, you're good.
-
The only rule I have is this: If it doesn't have HFCS or hydrogenated oils, knock yourself out. There is so much crap out that says this and that is bad for you. If it works for you eat it. If it helps you lose weight, eat it. If you keep that one rule in mind, you're going to be fine IMO.

I couldn't agree more. Besides, I've tried eating the bare minimum and I just got so hungry that I lost it and went on a total binge. We're making lifestyle changes here, not quick fixes that don't stick.
-
When you exercise, you burn calories. Definitely eat them if you're hungry. At the end of the day, your net should be your calorie goal.
-
It could also be water weight. Drink lots of water and it if comes off tomorrow you know that's what it was :)

I could be wrong, BUT: Skin is pretty elastic. Some people who drop weight quickly do have some lose skin, but I would so rather be a healthy weight with a little flabby skin then overweight and at risk for a heart attack. Don't worry about it so much!! Please don't let it discourage you from actually losing the weight.

I weigh every day, but honestly, since I've started eating better, I don't really retain any water when I'm on my period. Could it be an old wive's tale? I know I used to crave chips and other salty foods a few days before - which could have been the reason for the water retention.
