  • I agree with being down once rather than twice. Can you have it done over the holidays when your husband is off and not being able to drive would be less of an inconvenience? I chose to have my gallbladder taken out Thanksgiving week for this very reason. Did not make such a great holiday for my but the rest of my family…

  • A calorie is simply a unit of a measure of energy. All foods are made up of carbs, fat, and/or protein. I believe you need all three to have a healthy diet and just need to determine the ratio that works for you. Lean protein (w/o a lot of fat) is a great when you are trying to lose weight because it will keep you feeling…
  • Thanks for the responses, I was wondering more about anyones experience getting back to thier fitness level after surgery. Going back to the doctor next week and not planning on starting running without her OK.
  • I use runkeeper on my droid to track running and walking. Really like it and it is very easy to use and best of all it is free!
  • I have heard that walking, jogging, and running all burn about 100 calories a mile.
  • I have a glass of wine most nights and did while I was losing. Just make sure I burn the extra calories to cover it!
  • I am 5' 2" and went from 140 to my current 105 that I have been maintaining for about 6 months. Still on here everyday working on maintaining and toning up. Feel free to add me if you don't mind someone who is in the maintenance mode.
  • 45 year old mom to three boys 9, 10, and 14. Currently maintaining my 35 pound loss and in the best physical condition I have ever been in my life. There are a few progress pictures on my profile. Ladies you can do this, you owe it to yourself and your family to be healthy and happy. Best of luck!!
  • I do not think you need a special program. Just keep adding a little mileage each week to one of your longer runs. I never did any formal programs and ran my first 5K without walking last Thanksgiving, did my first 10K in March and am currently training for a 1/2 marathon. If you are after a specific time you may want to…
  • I suggest you slow down and track your time rather than distance. I found once I could run 40 minutes or so then my 5K time decreased quite a bit and it was much easier to keep adding distance. Good luck!
  • Also training for a 1/2. My morning runs (3 - 6 miles) are usually after geting the kids off to school and I will normally eat a english muffin with some peanut butter and green tea about 1 hour before. Afterwards I like some fat free greek yogurt. For my longer weekend run (8 - 10 miles) I will carry water and gatorade as…
  • 5' 2" and maintaining at 105. Started MFP at 140 last September and have been maintaining since May. Ate at 1200 calories as well as eating most of my exercise calories. Best of luck to you all.
  • Feel free to add me. I am 45 and am on maintenance after losing 35 pounds in about six months. Still on here everyday as I need the accountability.
  • 3-4 times a week and 15-20 miles a week. Started running this time last year, ran my first 5K (without walking) last thankgiving, have since done serveral 5Ks and 3 10Ks, planning to run a half marathon this fall. I am a slow runner 10 - 11 min/mile but at this point distance and endurance is more important to me than…
  • You may want to have your iron levels checked. Low iron can will cause fatigue is fairly common for women.
  • 8.6 miles Sunday. Tried running Tuesday but was just not feeling it so wound up doing wak/run intervals. Ran 4 miles of trails yesterday.
  • Feel free to add me, started running last year and am currently training for a 1/2 in November.
  • Runkeeper girl here!
  • Love Runkeeper!!
  • Did manage to get in 4 miles (42 minutes) between rain showers today. It was very muggy and gross out but glad I did it.
  • I think it is going to depend on your body type. I am almost 5' 3" and am maintaining my wieght at 105 (what I weigh in my profile picture). I am very small boned and am the strongest and best shape I have ever been in my life.
  • Have not been on my PC to post last week buy did 7 slow road miles with friends last wednesday and ran my first 8K cross country race Saturday. Hoped to finish in 55 and was very happy to do it in 52:12. Rains from Isaac have just started so I won't be getting any running in for a few days. Hope you all have a great week.
  • Beautiful 8.8 milles on an old country hard packed clay road over rolling hills. Did it with a 10:40 average pace. My son's HS cross country does their long run out here every Saturday morning and I decided to run while they ran (they went a lot farther and a lot faster!!). Think I will join them as often as I can as I…
  • Back from end of summer vacation at the beach and did get a lot of walking and running in last week: Tuesday 5 miles of walk/run intervals on the beach barefoot. Averaged around 12 min miles Wednesday 4.6 miles w/ husband (started out too fast and averaged 11:53 due to walking most of last mile) Saturday 5.5 on a sandy…
  • I play tennis a lot during the fall and spring. Year-round I use the rowing and elliptical machines at the gym and try to do circuit training at least twice a week (not my favorite but I know it is good for me!).
  • 4.8 miles done before everyone was up and moving in my house.
  • 4 really hot miles on the trail. It was over 90 and super high humidity.
  • Great questions and welcome to MFP! Under the food tab on MFP there is a place where you can enter all of the ingrediants in your recipe and it will calculate the calories per serving, you do still need to weigh what goes in but it will save the recipe and you can easily use it again and again. I do not have a HRM so I use…
