Great job! Keep adding the mileage and your time will naturally improve along with it. Completed my first 5K in a little over 11 min miles and can now do it in 9 1/2.

4.5 in my hilly neighborhood this morning. Glad I got it in before the rain hit.
-
Sunday 3.5 miles on the trail, saw a BIG snake!
-
6.1 hot, humid, slow miles on the trail this morning. Pace was over 11 but at least I did it!
-
4 hilly, humid miles in my neighborhood early this morning in 42 min.

The GPS on runkeeper can act strangely if it is not totally set before you start the activity. If you go on-line and look at the map you may see where it looks like you were cutting corners and running off the road because the GPS did not track properly. I think you actually did the 4 but runkeeper cheated you!!

5 miles on trail this morning in 58 minutes. Had hoped to go longer but had tummy trouble :(

Love trail running but am pretty slow when I do it. I live near a state park that has nice wide fairly tame trails that a lot of runners and bikers use.

3.7 miles this morning before the kids were up!

Thanks for sharing. Someone asked me the other day if I was a runner and I had to think for a second before I answered yes!!

I am Patty a fairly new runner. I ran my first 5K on Thanksgiving Day 2011 and have since finished several more 5K's and 4 10K's. My son runs cross country so our whole family enjoys going to the races. I hope to run a 1/2 marathon in November 2012. Today I ran my farthest ever 10 MILES!! Who would ever believe I would be…

Also interested as I hope to run my first 1/2 in November also.

Wednesday 6.25 mile trail run 69 minutes. Slow but steady wins the race right??

Cogratulations on being ready for your first 5K! I bet you will find when you get started with all of the other runners motivation at the beginning will not be a problem. My problem is keeping myself from going out too fast during a real race. Beware that running these races is addicting! Ran my first 5K last Thanksgiving…

3.7 miles this morning in 39 min. Committed to do a 8 - 10 mile run with friends Saturday morning that I am feeling woefully unprepared for, will try to do at least 5 miles tomorrow.

Sorry, misread original post and can't delete my post. I thought you wanted people who started at 140. Good luck with MFP, great program.

Welcome, you have found a great site to make a lifestyle change. Can't believe the fit, happy person that I have become.
-
I have been maintaining for about 2 months and plan to contiune to track for a while. I love the way that I look and feel now and never want to go back to where I was.
-
Welcome, MFP is a great place to make positive changes. Good luck!

Thanks so much! I have always wanted to be able to do a chinup and made a goal for myself to be able to do them by the end of the summer.

You are off to a great start. I recommend working on your endurance and you will find your speed naturally increases. I ran my first 5k last November in 34 min, I recently ran over 8 miles at a faster per mile pace than I did that first 5K and my 5K time has dropped to 30 minutes.

Been on maintenace for two months and it is hard work! Feel free to add me if you like.

I was amazed that once I was able to run for about 40-45 minutes how easy it was to increase my mileage. Ran my first 5K last Thanksgiving and my first 10K in February without a lot of extra training over the holidays.

My legs have toned up a lot from running, I am not fast and don't do much interva/speedl work but do run around 4 times a week. I also do some weight training for my quads and hamstrings to stay strong.
-
I also had/have problems with the outside of my knees due to IT issues. I now stretch before and after and only have a problem when I increase my mileage.
-
Congratulations, way to stick through those first few tough minutes. Keep slowing increasing your time and you will be amazed at what you can do. I started running in the fall, did my first 5K without walking on Thanksgiving and last weekend ran over 8 miles in 1 1/2 hours. I get choked up everytime I start and finish a…

Try to get as much in me before I run when it is hot out. If I am only doing 3 miles I don't usually hydrate during. Did an 8 mile run this past weekend and wore a belt that held small bottles for the first time and drank about 24 oz during the 1 1/2 hours a sip or two at a time.

Started running when I started MFP in September 2011 did my first 5K without walking last Thanksgiving in 34 minutes. Best time to date for a 5K is 30:08 and 1:06 for a 10K. Had my longest run ever this past Saturday 8.2 miles 1:29. Amazed at how fast my running endurance has increased.

I am 5' 2" and also started at 140. I am not trying to lose anymore but would love to have more friends that are at or near maintenance. I plan to continue to log as I work on toning and strengthening. Friend request sent!
