'Guess What' soup is a favourite here :) It all depends on what is left in the veg box. Tasty and entertaining.

Surprised by the 30 'disagree' on my (not very controversial )comment about too much fruit not being good for teeth. (It was just another way of noting the point above about the body not caring where the sweetness comes from.) Although it is nutritious, fruit really isn't good for teeth because of its sugar and its acid.…

I can really agree with ridiculous59. Losing weight has been possible since the 'nest' emptied and there has been time to spend on me. I have had the luxury of being able to try different things to see what works. I have noticed that I'm more fuel-efficient now than I was as a youth, and that weight does move off more…

It isn't great for your teeth to have fruit too many times in a day.

I really hope that this works well for you too - it has been a revelation to me. I'm on LCHF rather than keto (similar but not quite as strict about counting carbs) and began this with reading 'THE IDIOT-PROOF DIET' . (I was really fed up with calorie-counting and needed something not too fussy but which allowed me a glass…

Well done Pipsqueak - you sound to be doing all the right things and you look great on this too :) (Mind you, HRT should be keeping you free of all the menopause-symptoms... including slower weight loss.)
-
It is odd isn't it? As cars get older, they get less and less fuel-efficient. Humans seem to work the other way and hardly need any fuel to keep going after menopause.

Are you finding it hard to allow yourself to eat the fat? It is difficult to re-boot ideas about it being good for you! Adding it to food is usually quite easy. There are so many lovely options (olive oil - butter - cream) and it soon adds up. Mainly though, this way of eating (whether keto or just LCHF) is about keeping…

Welcome Evan! You have taken a really positive step today and in coming here you have found many new friends who really understand some of what you are going through. There is good advice on here (do look at the 'getting started' advice) and some terrible advice too (that usually comes from individuals - and often those…

I agree that it is important to include your favourite foods in your new lifestyle; having to use steely will-power to avoid something lovely completely, probably isn't going to work long term. However, perhaps your question is about something deeper than a 'liking' for certain foods. Using food as a comfort can be a real…

It is good that you are asking this question as it is important to your future life and health. MFP does set safe levels for calories. Use the goals etc. on here and you will be safe. Anything lower and you ought to get medical supervision. (Be very careful about trusting anyone who is selling you something! Be sure to…

There is some good advice on here. It is unusual to see so much agreement. Do read the links.

Great progress - well done. :)

It is possible. I'm well into all that meno-fun and am losing weight more effectively than before. (There is nothing special about me - or my will-power.) Really, it is just a question of finding out what works for you AND believing that it is possible. (There are many voices of doom out there telling you there is no…

I am qualified :)

Add me if you wish. All the best for the days ahead - you sound determined and (because of previous attempts) well-prepared for this one. Experience helps!

It is your weight loss ... do what suits you and what you can sustain.

Halloumi is lovely. It is a folded cheese - from Cyprus (but also more widely in Greece and the Med). I think it is made in the UK now too. It BBQs (in cubes on a skewer just like meat/veg) because it stays pretty firm when hot. If you overcook it, it will become 'squeaky' - but still tastes good. In this curry it stays…

We love this (cauliflower and) halloumi curry. No-one realises that it has cauli in it :) Halloumi curry Ingredients • 1 tbsp oil • 250g pack halloumi, cut into chunks • 2 onions, thinly sliced • 2 garlic cloves, grated • 3cm ginger, grated • 1 heaped tsp turmeric • 1 ½ heaped tsp chilli powder • 2 tsp garam masala • 1…

You are back and saving that 12lb loss :) - well done. Make your experience of regain a useful one. What have you learnt about the things that lead to weight gain for you? What can you do to prevent these things? Look at the detail and consider it carefully. Life happens - and not everything can be perfect but there might…

The time seems important when you start. But really, it isn't. You could crash-diet and lose much weight fast (initial weight loss is usually good but then it slows to less than an lb a week even on very limited rations). For 50 lb this will require much will-power and patience. It will also require a re-think about how…

Just tell them that you ate earlier. You did - last night!

A choc fountain+ radishes party sounds fun. I'm really warming to the idea. Could we add some chilli to the (very dark) chocolate? That should warm everyone else too :)

It sounds daft, but when you reach for biscuits and cakes - what are you hoping to get from them? I eventually worked out that the taste/feel of the cakes/sweets/biscuits wasn't what I actually wanted, though I really thought it was. There was an idea in my head about a satisfaction they would give me... but then they…

These are questions for your doctor! There are different types of cholesterol. Not all are 'bad'. (Apparently, the stuff you get from eggs is now regarded as 'good'.) You need help interpreting your blood results to see if the bad stuff is high enough to be a problem. Then you need advice on which foods might help and…

Drink does stimulate the appetite. (A friend who is a doctor always wanted to be allowed to prescribe a pre-dinner sherry for those on his geriatric ward who weren't eating enough and were too thin!) It has many calories in too. -Plan and prepare a satisfying and very easily available meal for directly after drinking.…

Do check your measurements. Not all losses show on the scales. You might be getting thinner/trimmer even if not lighter. It is also true that fat loss is not always regular. (Stress can slow it down.) Check that you are really sticking to your eating plan. (Look for possible errors in counting - especially of foods you…

I love kale 'chips' but haven't found any good ones to buy. We do this recipe often: -Thick stalks cut off and leaves roughly chopped - put in bag with olive oil and spices and salt and shake up - pour onto 2 baking trays and bake 3 mins -at high, 200C or 180C fan, - stir and bake 2 more mins to be crispy not burnt - eat…

Thanks canadjiheh - I am one of the 60 000 too and find it a helpful forum

nrich86 - I too like the diet doc site. The recipes are delicious! I'm looking at mason-jar salads for work this summer. Making your own does leave plenty of room for putting together so good LCHF combinations and they seem to keep a few days so you can make a batch of them. Eating more green veg is always a good thing. I…
