  • I'd start with cutting out the sugar, your body does not need it. Replace it with vegetables!
  • Contrary to what others may say, it sounds like your body has adapted to a lower calorie intake. Through many years of not eating enough, your body most likely used your muscles for protein, possibly other organs for nutrients if you were not getting enough vitamins. Your body stores and keeps fat when it can, assuming it…
  • Not unless your ankle weights weigh 75 pounds each. I doubt they will have any effect.
  • Have you tried taking your measurements instead of steeping on the scale? Or comparing before / after pictures? Sometimes thats a better indication of fat loss!
  • I follow the Atkins diet, which is low carb. I don't see it as a diet though, more of a way to eat. I've had good results mentally and health wise, a bit of weight loss.
  • "Heavy", for building muscle, typically describes the amount of weight you can lift up to 8 or 10 times. Once you can lift a certain weight 10 times, move to a higher weight. This can mean free weights, machines, or body weight. Of course its difficult to add weight when you are doing body weight exercises, but they are…
  • Suggestion: try dropping your carbs down to 10% for a couple weeks, see what happens. 50% protein, 40% fat, 10% carbs
  • eggs. I drink egg protein powder as well. (Though I do not recommend the egg protein with xyletol, it does not agree with my digestive system).
  • I pile on healthy stuff (sauerkraut, onions, jalapenos, mustard) and use a fork.
  • Eating rice at night, or anything for that matter, won't necessarily mess you up. Timing of eating, I believe, has been proven to not have any effect (unless its a bunch of sugar that will keep you awake). I try not to eat late because I get acid reflux if I lay down on a full stomach. That being said, carbs turn to…
  • What exactly do you eat? Also, the holidays were only about a week ago, might take a while to lose the weight! Also - have you been only eating 1200 calories for a long time? Sometimes our bodies get used to lower calories. Try upping to 1500 calories for a while, see what happens. Still a 500 calorie deficit, if you can…
  • Agreed. When you eat sugar, insulin in your body is released to transport the sugar / carbs to cells. Insulin also tells fat cells not to release fat - why release fat when your body is busy burning sugar and carbs? Stop eating sugar, limit your carb intake, and let your body burn the fat it has.
  • I read that entire sentence without taking a breath.
  • It's the caffeine that might assist in fat loss, if anything.
  • I am of the belief that modern day fruit has been selectively bred to maximize their sugar (fructose) content. I stick to berries, they have less sugar. On a side note, vegetables grown below ground also have more sugar. Something to think about if you are trying to keep your sugar to a minimum!
  • Open your food diary for people to look at. It's tough to give advice without knowing the whole picture! Also, keep at it. One week doesn't make a trend.
  • Personally, Atkins was the beginning of a healthier life for me. Many people here are of the calories in vs. calories out mindset, but I feel better on low carb. I hit the gym and do a fair amount of cardio on low carb without a problem. I say stick with what works for you!
  • I would say any exercise will burn 200 calories, eventually.
  • What are you eating? Do you log everything in your food diary on here? Can you make your diary public? Honestly, what you eat / don't eat is more important for losing weight than exercising. But exercising is a great way to improve your health!
  • Yup, I have to pee every hour, all day. Try adult diapers! I worked at a company that made adult diapers. The management wore them to baseball games to avoid long lines at the bathrooms. I'm just sayin'!

  • I say yes, as you lose fat and get to a lighter weight, your body requires fewer calories to keep it going. Have you checked your BMR at your new weight? Also, your body gets used to the amount of calories you feed it. I find taking a couple weeks and eat at normal calories helps (without a deficit). Also, try different…
  • yeah, that's why I quit drinking. I HATE to waste one of my two days off a week feeling like hungover crap!!
  • These things take time. Give it a few months!
  • It took years for me to gain the extra weight I have on my belly, so I know I won't be able to lose it in some magical 2 week workout! Just keep on doing it - eat healthy, stay active, and have fun.
  • Awesome! We're right here with ya.
  • I think any step you make toward getting to your goal is a great move!
  • I log mine under cardio -> strength training
  • Yup, by the end of the month I'm down to eating rice and beans. Egss and chicken thighs are pretty cheap too.
  • Look up "cream of tartar and nicotine". I havent tried it (yet), but some say it helps flush nicotine from your body.
  • I love doing Intermittent fasting. It's the only way that has worked for me to lose fat. I only eat from 6-10 at night. I feel much better during the day, and still have plenty of energy for a good workout at noon. Good luck!
