  • Cheers for this! Seems doable and like an excellent plan!
  • No, no pain when breathing heavier... just as the distance gets greater and my speed goes up... (started at 11.2kph and moved up to about 11.7kph) so physically twisting my body more as I get more dynamic with speed... The doctor signed me off weight training and upper body resistance for 28 days (fair one and I'm not that…
  • rice flour! loads of GF products out there...just very expensive! They don't taste quite the same either...
  • Complete and utter rubbish... they've just beeen pinged in the commercial world lately... basically people buy them and start walking more.... they don't do anything special. Invest your money and time in good running shoes instead!
  • Twinings do some lovely ones. Favourites include GreenTea with Jasmine, Green Tea with Orange and Lotus Flower and Green Tea with Apple and Pear... on special offer at the mo ...3 boxes of 20teabags for £2.50 at Tesco!
  • That's slightly different though... I'm talking about a piece of clothing that has remained constant... I'm scared of this vanity sizing thing where I can get in to a 10 or 12 (UK size) of different brands which leads to confusion on your body state/make-up. :)
  • Cheers for that... I definitely have lost quite a bit of "flab" - the scales haven't move dmuch but my activity levels have gone UP UP UP! As has the intesnsity and adversity (was skiing at the start of the year, Been mountain biking a few times, climbing lots, klettersteig, canoeing and then LOTS of endurance running!) :)…
  • Balsamic vinegar, hold the oil/salad cream and mayo-they're the calorie dense parts at about 40kCal a teaspoon and add black pepper and salt. Or even lighter and zestier, juice a lemon, grate the rind, add salt and black pepper to taste, perhaps even a little chopped chilli for a fiery metabolism boosting (only just but…
  • A physician/Physio will be able to tell you. Don't guess it... noone on here can do a full examination so don't make assumptions! Just go to the docs! :) x
  • On top of this, the species has gotten bigger... we're taller therefore proportionally our sizes should be larger. Women in general are taller therefore our hip/waist to height ratio should stay the same but ultimately lead to bigger sizes. Not proportionally though. Although Vanity sizing is terrible.
  • Fantastic and yes you will get addcited! I got the running bug and I agree, running outside is much better than in... You'll get way faster times and varied terrain...plus the technique if you're training for a race is better as you actually push off your foot as opposed to the treadmill pulling you foot! And yes,…
  • Walking running, cycling... A mixture... triathlon it up a bit... X-Trainer/elliptical, treadmill/road then bike! Try and beat your times. Add resistance... should be fine.
  • Exercise and physical exertion. It's also the safest and healthiest way, has a great amount of additional benefits to your health and appearance, it's free can be done anywhere and can be done in a variety of ways. You can always do some exercise in every day of your life. Simples! :)
  • If you only walked a mile in that time, then I'd say the treadmill was correct. If you had run 5km I'd say it was very wrong! On average you burn about 100 calories per mile or about 73 per kilometre... it does vary slightly on weight (and this is also doesn't take in to account the calories you'd have burned regardless if…
  • Nope, I eat late and I have snacks (look at my food diary) and I'm not gaining. Eat some light crudites if you're snacks are calorie dense to tide you over 'til dinner such as celery and carrot (raw). I deliberately fill my early evenings with activity/shopping/stuff to stop me eating 'til dinner which is late. I prefer…
  • There's usually a soup option... just take a little bit of all the plainest / veggie stuff and keep going up for drinks, I always over eat when i go to those places... keep getting up for diet soda and noone will notice and you'll be less likely to overeat! :)
  • Personal opinion... if its in a pill its not natural and if its not natural it's not gonna last when you stop taking it. I've tried a number of supplements/diet pills/protein etc. I found they worked for a short time ...then they didn't and they were costing me lots / month... after a while I changed my diet, did more…
  • Well I definitely think the lifestyle changes do... literally. The endorphins after exercise, the mood changes from a more controlled and stable blood sugar level from a healthier diet... and then the smile when you see the number on the scales has gone down! and the buzz from the compliments!
  • Ultimately it's healthy and safe to, but as you have a lot of weight to lose, I'm guessing you may find jumping down to 1440 calories a day a culture shock. You're gonna need to probably do quite a lot of daily physical activity in order to eat as you used to or just really massively have self discipline. It may be easier…
  • Oh and unless you're eating in excess of 17500 over your MAINTENANCE calories, there is no way it's going to be fat! Most likely water, possibly some muscle and possibly some glycogen. :)
  • Lots of regular long cardio sessions (such as running every day for about 40 minutes and fairly fast- not sprint butr a high sustained effort) will mean you retain both water and glycogen in your fatigued muscles. In a way, this is why rest days are important. With that you may or may not get a bit of bloating. If you're…
  • That's fab! I've reposted it on my twitter! Hope you don;t mind!
  • Don't look at it as bad, most of it is the good heart healthy omega oils and stuff like CLA which can help your metabolism, fat burning, reduction of fat storage and also promote healthy cells which give you lovely healthy skin, nails, hair etc! :) x
  • we call them calories but actually they are KCals... which is 28000 calories... but that doesn't mean you burned what is referred to as calories! you burned 128 calories as in a small slice of cake or a slice of bread!
  • or even with just plain boiled rice? or a vegetable side dish - bombay potatoes? Aloo Palak?
  • It depends what you have put in your settings...you can lose, maintain or gain weight depending on which settings you choose. You can also select the rate at which you lose. Have a look on my blog http://harderbetter-fasterstronger.blogspot.com which has some calculations to find your ideal weight, Basal Metabolic Rate,…
  • Fresh root ginger steamed to infuse, chillis, fresh rosemary, fresh thyme, lemon juice. Herbs in general, Balck pepper. But to be honest, after a while you start to appreciate the plain vegetables and they can be quite tasty on their own. I don't add anything to them at all now, but I steam turkey with…
  • Great stuff! :)
