So really, if, hypothetically of course, my gym buddy and I went out for sushi after a workout, and I got a plate of salmon sashimi, it would be just as good?

This all the way!!!

They are more expensive, high in sodium and not natural foods. They are not healthy. If you want meat, health-wise you're better off just eating real meat. If you just happen to like the veggie burgers and stuff that brands like Morning Star sell, that's cool too, I know I do sometimes. But it's two totally different foods…

bluefox9er: probably a runner. or sports-y.

this.

This... what's the use in all this stuff that's maybe healthy, maybe not, and may or may not even work (usually not), on top of costing you extra money... when just eating fewer calories and exercising WILL bring you to your goal?

Swimming burns a ton more calories. I enjoy it much more, it makes me sore in a good way, not the bad way that running tends to. If it's what you like, though, go for it either way. It's better to enjoy exercise than to do what's "better"...if you don't enjoy it, it'll make you miserable to stick to it.

5/8, ~240 pounds, wear a size 18-20 depending on brand.

I add the people who are either really silly or seem to be really good (nice) people on the boards. Or who, in whatever way, their dedication to their health is obvious.

Because a lot of people associate vegetarianism/veganism with those crazy "lol chickens are cute so I won't eat them!" teenage vegetarians who are uneducated and don't know how to properly take care of their bodies. Read: think eating french fries or chips for every meal is acceptable because they're a vegetarian. It took…

Just say you don't want to drink. And then don't drink. You CAN have fun sober.
-
I've only ever heard of that from the people who perceive themselves to BE the "ugly" friend. In my group, and in every group of people I ever hung out with through high school and now in college, I've NEVER seen people hang out with someone to make themselves look better.
-
I don't actually understand why that's offensive to you guys???

I've heard some people say that if you go over for the day, figure up your total goal for the week and try to still be under that. Honestly, if it's only either by a hundred or so calories over, or only one day out of the week, I don't worry about it too much. But I haven't been at this for too long so I'm not sure I'm in…

You can add me if you want. I'm on every day and I'm pretty active. :)

The worst one to me... that eating X food will not let you lose weight OR that eating after X time at night your body will hold on to all calories.

I think this is what you're looking for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI6CfKcMhjY

Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together That's one of my main ones... There are definitely others.

For the record, I actually only eat half a brick of ramen, unless I'm eating it dry. I just can't eat that much pasta at one time...I'll have half for lunch and half for dinner. I hate anything that a serving size isn't "x peice/s" if like bread, "x whole cups" like cereal, or "1 container" like a bottle of juice...canned…

Garlic sauce. Also please learn to spell/type/grammar/internet... please?

Ice is great for that need to munch. Something to chew on and good for you.

9 Edited to add, I like your tattoos :)

This, for me. I just can't do it. I miss school and work for mine, too, just because I get so sick from it.
-
This. In all seriousness, though, no. Really. Eat bacon if you enjoy bacon. Just keep an eye on your calories and macros, and how you feel. If it makes you feel crappy, don't eat it...if you can't stay under your goals when you eat it, don't eat it...otherwise, you'll be fine. Edited to fix a typo.

Sent: "josh says i love you" Being sarcastic because I didn't say I love you to my fiance before hanging up the phone on my break at work.

I actually thought it was saying "Ow!"

^^THIS. That is ridiculous. People talk everywhere, of course, but I haven't seen such outright horrible behaviour since I was in middle school... wow. Also this.

This. Can't emphasize that enough. Even for the "sedentary" lifestyle choice, I'm sure they already assume you do things you have to do, like cleaning or cooking or laundry or whatever. Just because it's listed as available doesn't mean it's a good thing to log as exercise. If you eat back exercise calories, this will hurt…

Others might be able to make you see that you NEED to change, and they might be able to help you find the direction to that "click," but the actual motivation is on you. Unless of course they're holding a gun to your head, then they can probably motivate you.
