  • I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost one of my pugs two years ago and even though they were no longer living with me (my ex-husband and I agreed that they would be best with him as he was moving back into his parent's home with a big back yard) I still took the news very hard and cried for days on end. So, lots of hugs…
  • I'm up to 180.4 (that was on Friday morning, I've not gotten on the scale today). I'm trying to trust the process of increasing my calories and lifting heavy but the scale has me a bit out of sorts. I may need to put it in the closet for a while.
  • So much good stuff here!! Thanks, ladies!!!
  • Have you looked into Vibram FiveFingers? Maintain your love of barefoot running while fulfilling your obligation to cover your feet at the gym! Win, win!! http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/index.htm Also, I'm terribly confused as to why you feel the need to teach yourself to heel strike. If you naturally have a forefoot…
  • It bears repeating that you are, indeed, awesome!!! Congrats on quitting!!
  • Sounds like an AWESOME plan!!!!
  • Sounds like a good plan, Rach!!!! No specific number goal for me. I'm eating at a very conservative deficit right now (based on running my numbers on www.fat2fitradio.com) so as long as I see the number moving in the right direction, I will be happy. I started StrongLifts 5x5 last week and will be doing it two times per…
  • Count me in with the middle-aged 2010-ers!
  • Hello Ladies!! Just started the program tonight and figured I would introduce myself. My name is Tobi and I am 36 years old. I've been working on losing weight for the last few years and have had quite a bit of success, but have been too focused on cardio. 5x5 seemed like an easy enough program and I definitely want to get…
  • I will be starting Stronglifts 5x5 on Tuesday! Friend request sent!!!
  • Go ahead and register! Run what you can, walk if you need to and have fun!! There will be plenty of folks who walk the entire 5K, so don't worry about that. If you would like to work on improving your endurance between now and race day, look into an interval training program such as Couch to 5K.
  • After reading this thread, I feel like I got VERY lucky when trying my first protein powder! I'm currently using both the Designer Whey French Vanilla and Chocolate flavors. I have the Magic Bullet (yes, from the infomercials!) and they both blend up nicely and the taste good enough to mix up in water. I also mix them up…
  • Death Cab for Cutie at the end of the month, Idina Menzel in June and Madonna in August!!!! (I'm also considering seeing Florence + The Machine again this summer (saw them last summer) but it would require an overnight and I'm not sure that I wanna fork out the money for a hotel room.)
  • Congrats!! Like many others who have already commented, I'm planning to do my first half later this year. Hope you will come back and let us all know what worked for you and how you trained!!!
  • Doing my first 10K Saturday morning and I'm feeling woefully unprepared. It's my own fault...I've not trained nearly enough and I haven't even run since Wednesday of last week. I've only ever done the distance once before and that was quite a few weeks ago. I'm completely dreading the race but trying not to beat myself up…
  • Since you wanted to see pics, here is the last progress collage I put together (sadly, it's still representative of where I am today, but that's a whole other story). When I decided to get serious about running, I started with C25K and running continues to be a staple in my workouts.
  • I love you. Srsly.
  • Unless you start injecting steroids, you will not end up looking like Schwartzenegger. Women do not have the hormones needed to get bulky muscles. Additionally, eating at a deficit (which I assume you are doing since you still have weight to lose according to your ticker) will also keep you from getting "big". Now, as for…
  • Well, I'm a bit late to the February goals party, but I am here... My goals for the next 4 weeks: 1. Work out at least 4 times per week (M - Kickbox; T&Th - Bootcamp; Sat - Bootcamp class @ gym; running a few mornings each week) 2. Drink at least 64 oz of water each day 3. Stay within my weekly calories - Currently set at…
  • This was going to be very similar to my response! With a $120 budget you should have no trouble finding a pair of shoes that will be right for YOU. Go to a local running store, get properly fitted, and your body will thank you for it. The only thing that I would add is to do this sooner rather than later. I understand the…
  • Congrats!!! Awesome!! I finally finished C25K this past Thanksgiving day (RAN the entire Turkey Trot that I did!) after starting and stopping several times before. Keep at it because it really does work!!! Looking forward to seeing your graduation post!!
  • No, it doesn't! That would mean: a.) my vacation is over and b.) I have no more time left to get back to where I was on that chart you posted. LOL! Oh well - I know that I have been slacking quite a bit since before Thanksgiving and have been back to kicking *kitten* pretty regularly cardio-wise the last couple of weeks.…
  • My goodness that sounds delicious! I grew up in Lancaster but I'm currently living in Bensalem.
  • You are cruel and heartless...and that is why I love you so much!!! I really might wind up making this...my sister and her husband will love it! And so will I!!
  • I LOVE steel cut oats but don't really care for rolled oats (it's a texture thing for me). I will eat mine sweet (with raisins, cinnamon, etc.), but my favorite way to have them is savory. One of my favorite breakfasts is steel cut oatmeal topped with shredded cheddar cheese, cracked black pepper and a poached egg (or…
  • Selfishly speaking, Feb 6th would be best for me. I will be on vacation 1/29-2/5 with no access to my scale. Yes, I will be weighing in for the first time right after vacation, but that will be motivation to keep my butt in gear! Also, you rock. Srsly.
  • I have the FT4 as well and had to change the batteries. Found that the chest strap uses the 2025 which I found at Staples and the watch uses the smaller 1632 which I had to get at Radio Shack.
