Hello, I’m returning to this group after a loooong hiatus. I joined about 7 years ago when I was getting ready for my wedding. Well, after a considerable weight loss (288 to 224) I gained everything back and I’m feeling motivated to change. I am happy to see some familiar names/faces. I just remember this being a really…

First, it is wonderfully brave of you to reach out to others. I hope that you are able to find strategies to help you overcome this. Second, I can only tell you what helped me. I hope it provides insight but everyone is different. I lived with bulimia throughout high school and by college I was able to kick my purging. The…

I would log it as yoga. I was thinking you might try "Mild Stretching" as your exercise but the burn is the same. I'm guessing you don't have a heart rate monitor. I found this link that might give you a better representation for hatha yoga since it is a more gentle form of yoga:…

Frozen vegetables and salad greens. I try to find as many different types of frozen vegetable mixes as I can to keep it interesting. Buffalo wings I de-bone and put on top of a salad. I like to make my own dressing because I can keep it low cal and make it more delicious that a bottled low-fat dressing. The ribs I would…

This came from my nine year old niece: So the biggst bully in school came up to me and he was being so mean. He was talking and talking and called me chicken legs. I didn't say anything and when he stopped. I said, "All you do is talk and talk and talk and all I hear is 'blah, blah, blah'" Then I walked away. SHUT DOWN!

I was looking at some of those snack bars, I'll have to try a few when I grocery shop this week. PB combos is a great idea. I was also realizing that hummus and veggies would also be good.

I'm in if there's still room.

Saturday Success - I actually got online to post something today and made it to the gym twice this week despite it being one of the toughest weeks in recent memory. I ended up having an HR mediation with my boss at the end of the last week while I was in the middle of midterms. Between midterm one and midterm two, my…

I'm sorry you aren't getting support at home but good for you still staying under calories. One of the things that really helps my willpower is working out at least every other day. When I work out, I feel like I want to fuel myself for my work out and the day after I'm riding the high from my good work yesterday. Using…

I wish I could respond to posts but after my day today I can't really comprehend what I am reading. I had a pretty taxing end of the day. My boss is an abusive bully and I've finally talked to someone about it. I hadn't realized how unacceptable her behavior had been until I spoke up. At the end of my discussion, I was…

@Tina - WoooHooo! Great job on the placement tests @Alison - Isn't always the way it goes? Once you want something someone else decides it worth having too? Tuesday Goals - My goal this week is to get in at least four workouts this week and log another weight loss this week. I weighed in at 231 on Sunday so by next Sunday…

That is my (boy) dog's name and it was originally a Shell Silverstein poem :)

Stud Kickass or Prince Eric But for real, Andrew and Alexander are on my list.

Ditto.

Robin - Congrats on your surgery results! I hope you are feeling 100% soon and your pain calms soon. Tina - Congrats on going back to school. It is such a major accomplishment and even though it will be hard it will be so worth it. You are going to be teaching your daughter an important lesson as you reach your goals.…

Sunday Sharing - I'm not sure if anyone here really remembers me. I haven't posted here for about six months. The group got a little unwieldy and I felt like I couldn't keep up, my responses were getting lost, other people's responses to me were getting lost and I felt like a total jerkface posting something and not being…

Such a great thread! Thank you! I also wanted to pipe in. If Tony's perspective rang true to you and left you with more questions. A consult with a dietician might be a good idea. Many health plan offer this as a benefit and some private practices have reasonable rates if you are able to pay out of pocket. My health plan…

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who replied to this message. I was feeling particularly low and I needed a swift kick in the rear. The things around me aren't changing yet but the things inside of me are changing. Thank you for all of your kind and honest words.

I'm 5'6" and I started at a size 22. I'm currenty a size 16 and my goal for the moment is to get down to a size 8. I've been a 12 in the past and I was about 30lbs overweight at the time so I think an 8 is a reasonable goal. The size goal is really only an estimate. My real goal is around living in my normal weight range.…

Welcome! I have PCOS also and all I can say work is limiting refined carbs and exercise. This is a great place to be to get support. It's not always an easy road but it can be done.

Love your story, love your writing! Thank you for sharing your story and good job on all the hard work! You look fantastic.

Thank you for all of the words of encouragement. Hearing your stories is so helpful. It can be easy to think the I am doing all of this in a vacuum. @Whitesocks1 - You are very wise. Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease run in my family and the way that it destroys a person's quality of life scares the crap out of me.…

I have two post-it notes over my desk, one has my weight loss goal for the week written on it, the other has the number of days until my 30th birthday. That is usually enough to make the desire for sweets go away. If I still want it after that, I'll figure out how much I can budget for today and eat it. I am finding that I…

I was wrong, that article I was talking about was in Self magazine: http://www.self.com/fooddiet/2012/06/protein-and-weight-loss?currentPage=2

I've heard about a lot of injured friends doing chair exercises. You might look into chair exercise programs online and find one to integrate into your workout schedule.

oatmeal with milk, some kashi cereals, smoothies have a lot of protein but these aren't low-carb. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and nuts are all things you could incorporate into your breakfast. Shape magazine has an article this month about complete proteins with a little grid I found helpful but I wasn't able to find it…

I have had migraines for several years. It is awful and I'm sorry you got hit by a bad one. You may not be staying well hydrated during your workouts. I find that exercise really helps control my migraines. A number of things could have happened that made this one bad. You might have over-exerted yourself and had other…

I only log water as my water intake. I guess that sodium argument is a good reason to track the diet coke when I have it because I do track sodium.
