It's working for me! I'm still only getting started, but already I can feel the difference just in my motivation. I have to get up and MOVE to reach my target burn each day (I live a mostly sedentary lifestyle), so it's really been helping me get off my butt and go to the gym. Just seeing how many calories I burn in an…

Heya. If you find some way to exercise while sitting at desk, let me know. I'm a grad student, spend 8-10 hours a day at a desk reading/studying, and reading on treadmill makes me motion sick. The only solution I've found is after an hour or so, to get up and move around for ten minutes--put on some music and dance around…

dang, girl, ain't that the truth!! I never buy a box of anything, because I know I'll eat it all in one sitting. In fact, lately I've taken to buying a 3 musketeers if I *really* need chocolate--I freeze it, so it takes longer to eat, and I incorporate the calories into my daily calorie budget. I'm using the Body Media Fit…

Hi Candy, Thank you for sharing your story. That was really brave. I think MFP is a great start, although IMHO (disregard if you like), some therapy might help you confront some of the psychological trauma you've had that have caused the weight gain. Best of luck!!

good idea, thanks, zlauermom, I'll look into that.

I see what you mean. I think my problem is that I can't "stay busy all day" as I am a grad student. I have to read/study 8-10 hours a day, and that usually requires sitting still (I tried reading on the treadmill, but it made me nauseous). I guess I just need to work out harder/longer to make up for the hours of inactivity.

the last thing I need is my judgmental family knowing I am trying to lose weight!

I use Body Media, so I try to make my minimum goal of 8,000 steps each day. A pedometer or other device might help if you're trying to count how far you walk in a day?

I'm a diet soda fiend and I've been trying hard to cut back on that similar to you (because of all the chemicals/aspartaime). One thing I've found I like is drinking ice water with lemon, lime, or orange slices. I also buy little packets called "True Lime" or "True Lemon"--which are basically just crystallized lemon/lime…

Just got started using Body Media Fit and love it so far. Went camping for a week so didn't make much progress week 1 (not very easy to eat healthy when you don't have access to fresh stuff!), but back at it now. Anybody using BMF feel free to add me as friend!

I try to distract myself. A lot of times, a craving will pass after a little while. It's usually caused by boredom. So I'll go clean something or go check the mail or go DO SOMETHING to take my mind off food.
