Diets and Coca Cola

I'm new here... I am 13 stone, and 5foot 3, so my BMI says obese. I am addicted to Coca Cola, and am trying to find a healthy alternative. Any suggestions? I have knocked the habit from 4 cans a day to about 1, but it is that final 1 I want to get rid of!! ALso does anyone know anywhere I can find information about nutrition? I am a total fail at it, and I would love to know more about how to healthily balance my meals.

Try lessening it to one a week or only have it certain places such as a restaurant. In reality one coke every once in a whole wont kill you. I read a book called What to Eat by Marion Nestlé. It's super informative and easy to understand. Micheal Pollan is another great author to check out

Fit it into your daily/weekly calorie and macro goals. I don't drink Coke anymore because I don't do high fructose corn syrup anymore...I do however drink sodas with real cane sugar. I used to be a 3+ 12 oz soda per day guy....I have about 2 per week now...sometimes three, but that's it and I just work it in. I tend to enjoy them best when I've been out busting my *kitten* in the yard pulling weeds, mowing, etc. My favorite at the moment is the San Pellegrino Limonata and Orange sprkling beverages. All natural ingredients and delicious.

I used to love coke so much. You can still drink it as long as you treat it as a dessert and not a beverage. You will soon find out that your calories will be better spent on other items that are more fulfilling.

    Good luck
  • I'm a diet soda fiend and I've been trying hard to cut back on that similar to you (because of all the chemicals/aspartaime). One thing I've found I like is drinking ice water with lemon, lime, or orange slices. I also buy little packets called "True Lime" or "True Lemon"--which are basically just crystallized lemon/lime slices (in powder form), but they're great because you don't have to worry about it going bad the way fresh fruit does. You can also buy very small cans of soda (here they sell little 8oz cans, half the size of a normal can), so you can limit yourself to one a day and still get your soda "fix" so you don't feel like you're suffering without your favorite beverage.

I have been drinking more Orange Juice lately. I just have that final can to get rid of. It may be a once a day, skip a day, skip 2 days sort of job. Thankyou <3

I cut out diet coke this week-went from 5-6 cans a day to zero-wow, that was an adventure lol. I don't drink coffee so the soda was my only caffeine source and I got some major headaches this week, that Tylenol took care of thankfully. Started on Monday and yesterday the headaches were finally settling down-today I haven't had any headaches at all and I think I'm finally over the 'detox' period. I'm not replacing it with anything so I now only drink water :)
