That sounds great! You could add some shrimp in there as well - I love eating the fresh herbs in SE Asia - it adds so much flavor to everything.:glasses:

momof10 - I like to mix juice (when I drink it) with sparkling water - makes it lower calorie and very refreshing -

Hi: I have read your posts and thought about joining the 'thread' - I don't post much - this is rather a new idea to me - but hope to stay motivated this month to maintain what I have achieved and to tone up some more. I was thinking about tennis lessons - though I have not had a racket in my hand since college! Sundays…

When I am in SE Asia, I have a dvd (30 day shred) that I use - but I also exercise outside early in the morning. I get around on a bicycle, so that helps quite a bit. I always loose weight in SE Asia - whether I am trying or not.

so far this morning - went to the farmers' market and bought some yummy vegies and strawberries, cleaning up outside (after days of rain), bought some flowers to plant later today, cleaned house. Now am off to the gym for about an hour - this afternoon more gardening and hopefully a trip to the pool. Tonight is cook out…

I just caught your food on airlines question - I think you can take packaged foods, e.g., almonds, trail mix, maybe an apple - of course once you are past security, you can buy food and take it on planes, Depending on the airport you may have options, e.g., salads, sometimes there are places to buy a piece of fruit - but…

I bought the DVD because I needed a workout while traveling - I am not really trying to loose weight at this point - so I can't speak to the weight loss - it has toned me up, but I also mix it up with other strength and cardio work. I don't think any one exercise or program will work - but, this DVD is a good quick…

The comments and info on workout timing and efficiency was on my mind too - useful information. I workout at least 40 minutes 5 x a week with one day "rest" - and I do try to switch things around on a regular basis (also because it is just boring doing the same thing every day). I've thought about taking some tennis…

Sunshine Lady - thanks for the feedback - yes, I should try using some ibuprofin beforehand, though I try to limit my intake of any meds. At this point, I am being careful, but I have to bike to get to work so that does result in some stress on the old knees! I have switched my work outs to evenings during the past week…

Good morning - Songfree - I do have the exercise band and I use it for some of the exercises - but find that some type of 'hand weights' (or water bottles!) work better for certain exercises. Like I said, improvising is what works best for me even in terms of estimating calories since a lot of foods I eat are not on the…

I travel extensively and have many long, long flights - the less I eat and eating only foods that are easy to digest work best for me - sitting still for such an extended period of time can cause water retention and the jet lag seriously effects your appetite and digestive system. Of course drink lots of water and get up…

Hello - just rediscovered this group  I am now maintaining and have been out of the US for a month - so before I left this time, I bought the 30 day shred and a yoga DVD - they have been great for keeping up with workouts when I am traveling. It can get a little cramped in my room doing the workouts and I use water…

If they have fresh fish - go for the steamed fish (not the fried/crispy) fish - this is real Thai food (I work in Thailand) - and is delicious and good for you.
-
I was also wondering about doing the shred everyday - I do a lot of mixed exercise normally (elliptic, bike, biking/walking, body sculpting class, weight training) but don't have those available while traveling. I am mixing it up a bit with additional strength exercises with a stretchy rope and some yoga. I also have a…

I went to the hotel gym today for about an hour - I didn't want to waste gym time while I had the chance - but after today - no gym as an option so I will start with the dvd again. Does anyone do the dvd twice a day to get in more time - ?

Hi: this is my first exercise dvd experience. I usually go to the gym/classes at the "Y" but am traveling and needed something I could do while away from home. I started the 30 day shred this morning - it was a good work out though I feel I need more than 20 minutes and where I am today I had access to a hotel gym. That…

It just tastes like yogart is suppose to taste - no sugar and no additives -

You can probably get it on line - but the Washington Post has a Peeps Diorama contest every year - so if you don't want to eat them be creative:wink:

I use the sauna once a week. It makes my muscles feel good and is very relaxing. It also makes my skin look and feel great - when available,e g., at a spa I also like to use the steam room for the same reasons - so give it a try!

I am happy to say I made my goal - I am at 63 kg - lost 2 kg since the challenge began. 3 more to go - which I am hoping to do by June.
-
I don't know if this is relevant - but try eating with chopsticks - you won't put very large pieces of food in your mouth - it also slows down your eating pace
-
I asked this question a while ago - I drink a lot of tea - both green and herbal - and I count it all toward my water. I think this site is flexible to accomodate your eating/drinking habits, so go with what makes sense for you. I still drink lots of water :drinker:

duffyzmom - thanks for the recommendation - I'll look for that DVD. alf1163 - I am jealous - going to sunny PR. I am in the snow and headed to cold-snowy Michigan this week - which is why I need some DVD programs to keep me going. Safe travels.

yes - I saw that study outlined at www.nlm.nih.gov (national library of medicine at NIH)

I am thinking of buying a video to take with me when I travel and cannot get to a gym - would the shred video work for this - it would be used on and off as I travel (which is at least once a month and sometimes for as long as a month). I also want to buy a yoga video if anyone has any recommendations. Thanks and have a…

hi: I weighed on Monday (I don't have a scale at home - so no weigh in today) - and had lost 1 kg in 2 weeks so am only 4 kg from my goal. I have also had a good week. I gave up wine for Lent - but that is only since Wednesday. I took a new yoga class that I enjoyed (and felt the next day). My schedule is different every…

I count it all - my small lunch salad (lettace, carrots, mushrooms, garbonzo beans, fresh beets) - all good stuff but was 200 calories -
-
Day of rest - I've designated Sunday as my day of rest. No exercise and I focus more on cooking and enjoying a meal to share with my family (children not at home but often here on Sunday) than the calories (though still keeping things proportionate). Its a good way to start off the week

sounds like a good philosophy - :drinker:

Friday night -- yes I had red wine but was visiting an long time friend I had not seen for a while - so good excuse  - and I was still in my limits - so no wine tonight and back on track. I am not a sweets person but salty goodies and wine are my temptations. I had a good workout this morning so overall feeling…
