  • Okay... first things first. While you are at the Dells make sure you go the deer farm and take the Duck tour. Both were hits during our trip up there 10 years ago. As for food. Watch your portions, think smart, and have a good time. It is vacation. You'll be surprised how much your way of thinking about food has changed.…
  • Well the good news is that if you just follow the calories, you can still lose weight because of the built in calorie deficit. The bad news is, it may take you a long time to get to your goal. Start with something simple like a walk around your neighborhood. I bet when you start seeing results with just that, you will be…
  • Thatta girl! All you have to do is want it!! L
  • Tell ya what, I'll start one tomorrow after I run. I like the idea of the black berry in my bra LOL. I'll make sure I don't have it on vibrate :blushing: Maybe I will let Jake come with me. We are in an apartment complex so worst case scenario he can just run home. I thought I could do it w/o a water bottle, but I heard of…
  • Drizzle a tablespoon of honey on top of half a pink grapefruit!
  • Don't forget that your weight fluctuates during the day, too. If you weigh on your scale in the morning, then have breakfast or even lunch and go the gym, your weight is difference. Factor the variance in the scales and you could easily have a 5 pound difference. Stick with one scale, same time of the day. L
  • It's not what you are doing wrong. It could be a number of things. You could be putting on muscle. You could be retaining water. Keep it up, results will come. L
  • I've heard of this before. I'll have to give that a try. L
  • Nothing like a "Full Monty" :blushing: Some things just don't need be messed with, ya know? L
  • I plan to start on Monday! Good job!
  • Get steamed rice and stick with chicken and veggies; then eat half. Ginger dressing on the side for your salad.
  • You've gotten some great suggestions. Remember, the key to "healthy pasta" is portion size! And if you can make your own pasta, all the better. That said, I love a pomodoro. You can chop up a bunch of tomatoes, some garlic and basil, saute in some olive oil and serve over pasta. If you don't feel like chopping up tomatoes,…
  • Umm, hello? "All I lost was 22 pounds" Really?? That's a heck of an accomplishment! You may have hit a plateau or had a few days of not so great eating/exercising, but hop back on the wagon and keep at it!! If you REALLY want it you can REALLY do it. Adjust your attitude to a more positive one, admit the road is going to…
  • Yes! I usually get a crack in each thumb nail just as the nail is developing a white tip. Both nails have about 1/16th of white and NO cracks!! L
  • Just remember, this isn't the type of program where you list everything you do all day long. When you checked your activity level, MFP took into account a calorie burn for those activities and used it to calculate your daily calorie intake. What you need to log in is everything beyond that. There are people on MFP who lose…
  • Rice cookers are great, but after our first house disaster in Sept 08, we started to stream line our possessions and I found the microwave was doing just as fabulous a job on rice. If you have the space and the money, sure get one. But don't feel you have to go out and get one for perfect rice.
  • If I put chocolate milk in my fridge I would never see a sip of it! I use the Vanilla Pure Protein with 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, 8 oz green tea and about a cup of fruit. Love it! L
  • I buy store brand (Publix) brown rice and the microwave directions turn out well every time. 1 cup rice, 4 cups water (I sometimes use broth). 5 minutes on high, cover, 40 minutes on 50% power. I know it is still longer than white rice, but I've just learned to start the rice before anything else.
  • Fantastic story! So many people use hard times in their life as excuses, but I am in awe of how you kept going and have done what's best for YOU!. Keep it up! L
  • Which ever tastes better. After all, it's a treat, isn't it?
  • Welcome! And let me just tell you this, it is much easier to do this at your age than mine! Congratulations on making this commitment to yourself and your health! L
  • I would say why do you want to count it? Are you trying to sneak in some extra calories? I don't count anything beyond my actual exercise time, even walking the dogs at night. Like others have said, if it is part of your daily routine it shouldn't count and I have just about always been out with my dogs for their evening…
  • Well you are in a good place! You don't say how you intend to lose weight, but I would encourage you to not "diet" on a particular plan, but rather make sensible changes to your diet that you can live with for the rest of your life. Good luck to you! L
  • As for your calves. Stretch before you start. Try runner's stretches, squats. No bouncing, just stretch for 15-20 seconds, do the other leg, repeat. The knees, I don't know what is causing the pain, so I don't want to give medical advice. Might be something you need to check with your doctor on. Swimming would have been my…
  • olive oil??? Really? That just doesn't sound good. On a funny side note. A few years ago my husband try to surprise me by making a brownie mix. The minute I walked in the house, I knew something was wrong. I tried one of the brownies and they tasted like french fries. My husband, God bless him, had read "vegetable oil",…
  • Pick your favorite burger and have it w/o bun. Add plenty of veggie fixins, and splurg on cheese if you want to. Watch the burger size, too. If its 1/2 pound burger, only eat half.
