  • For a 'normal' person of my height and weight and being sedentary, the correct BMR should be estimated BMR is: 1,347 calories/day* based on the my fitnesspal calculator. My situation is that I can't walk, I've had weight loss surgery, and I have reduced muscle mass compared to another person the same height /weight. All…
  • Thank you, the encouragement means a lot! It doesn't help that I can't weigh myself at home so I'm partially assuming I haven't lost any weight because I can't 'see' it. I'll stop whinging and take a trip to the hospital in a week or two and use their wheelchair scales :)
  • I know, and I use an electric wheelchair so it's even worse. They (who are these they people anyhow) say that you need 800 calories to exist in a coma, so I figure that I must be a bit more active than someone in a coma hahah!! Tho some days, it wouldn't surprise me of not! You are right about the incidental exercise and…
  • Thank you! Yes, my Dr told me that we use our alcohol calories first too. Not my GP but a Specialist. I don't actually do any exercise, so I don't have any exercise calories to over estimate, and the only thing is food which is why I have gone back to weighing and logging every scrap of food. I did think about eating a bit…
  • Makes ya wonder eh! I'm still slowly losing weight, I just expected a bit of a bump from knocking it off, but oh well... still better off for it :) Perhaps its proof that not all calories are equal re carbs, protein, fat & alcohol :)
  • Thanks, I'm back weighing, counting, logging - so I'll just stick at it :)
  • Thanks - just ran the sums, and while my increased food intake doesnt equal my decreased alcohol intake, it probably accounts for some of it, so I'll keep on keeping on. It frustrates me that on top of that by recommended daily intake for height and weight is about 1300, and I'm eating 900 (forget the alcohol) and still…
  • Hi Lets assume I was eating another 200 calories a day - 1400 a week. In reality, it's less, but for the sake of argument, a few hundred calories a week is neither here nor there. In terms of my drinking, I'm not sure where you got saving 300 calories x 3 nights - thats not a lot of alcohol and certainly not what I was…
  • Thanks for the advice - I will surely keep on, keeping on. I've gone back to weighing all my food, logging it all etc to ensure paying attention to this, as I agree its easy to eat more than you think you're eating! :) And I've upped my water about 900ml a day.
  • I have had it 2.5 years ago and it is the best thing ever. It's not 'the answer' and its still very hard work. If you need a MFP friend to talk to about it, please add me - I am happy to help. There's also some good groups on Facebook :) The best advice I can give you tho is LISTEN to your doctor, if you don't know…
  • Now it is winter time I find myself eating one for dinner several nights a week. I eat the weight watchers ones which have about 300 calories in them and I find them perfectly fine. They are high in sodium but if you watch whatelse you eat during the day it can balance out. I don't go over my sodium limits and I find them…
  • Congratulations - I'm sooo pleased for you - you really have shown me that the key to this is to just keep on going - every day, regardless and it will pay off. I am sitting here smiling at the screen over your success :)
  • I do that all the time - break it down to a 1 gram equivalent and then enter 93 servings or whatever xx
  • When I had Weight Loss Surgery I counted and weighed and measured every friggen gram. I had lost all concept of portion. Now I can eye roll 100 grams of most anything BUT i STILL WEIGH it at least once a week (if not more) of regular food and at least 3 times of a new food to make sure I can eye ball it. Portion Distortion…
  • It takes a few weeks I think for the effects of Prozac to kick in, but once they do you'll eventually be able to see things a bit differently and hopefully it will help you. I've been on it on and off for a good 10 years but this time I have decided to STAY on it regardless of thinking that I am 'all better now' because I…
  • I am 40 years old and 'they' think I have 'Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita' c/w Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, I was 'Born This Way' to steal a line from Lady Gaga and at birth my parents were told I'd be lucky to last a week and if I did I'd be a 'vegetable' and best they chuck me in a home and forget about me. I…
  • Hello. I had one installed (lol indeed) August 12 last year - feel free to add me as a friend :) It's always good to have some people on your friends list here who have had it so understand why you may be doing the things you are doing :) Just saw we are both August Sleeve people - that's pretty cool :) Tracey
  • *loves*
  • Maybe its stomach acid/irritation?
  • That looks a gorgeous dress :) Bet it will be falling off you in no time soon :)
  • All I can say is any excess skin has to be a lot better than excess fat doesn't it? Don't let a fear like that stop you :)
  • I used that and I am similar height to you and got around 60% so don't cry it isn't just you :P Edit I tried to reply to someone elses post but it hasn't worked! Sorry!
  • WOW! Look at those old pants! Soon you're going to fit into just one of the legs :) Good work :)
  • Well done to him. However in my humble opinion surgery is not a short cut. Not everybody CAN drop 270lbs unaided and then keep it off forever. It doesn't make us less deserving. :)
  • I'm a secret scrapbooker. I collect Marilyn Manson stuff including lunchboxes and dolls. I also collect ridiculous pens with lots of glittery stuff and maribou feathers on the end of them. I like drinking wine and playing farmtown on facebook.
  • Eating less than 1200 calories a day is not the end of the world especially for people in different situations as we both are :) I don't know how your lean body mass measures up against someone 'up and about' but I know mine is 10-20% lower than a 'normal person' (whatever they are) so therefore my calorie requirements…
  • 1. Motorhead - Auckland Town Hall 1991 or there abouts - it was THE LOUDEST concert I've ever been to. Think myself and my friend were the only girls there too :P 2. Lady Gaga - Vector Arena, Auckland Monster Ball Tour - blew me away! 3. The White Stripes - St James Theatre - Auckland - awesome - got right to the front and…
  • I think that the heavier/more overweight you are to start out with the quicker you may lose the weight. For example someone who is 300lbs may lose 20 lbs quicker than someone who is 150lbs - all other factors being equal. From what others have said here of similar weights to you I'd expect it to take a few months - but…
  • Also make sure you are getting enough water - I had the same thing and apparantely dehydration can cause it. Good luck!
