I'm really scared that after I lose my weight I'm gonna have a lot of loose skin. I'm 5'1 204 lbs. Anyone have any tips or any comments to help my worries?!?

I'm just bumping this to read later. I'm 5'1" and started off at 202. So almost the same as you. Except I have loose skin (almost done)

It will depend on your skin. I was 203lbs at my heaviest and I'm down around 145lbs now. I have a tiny bit of skin on my belly - but, I lost the weight slowly so my skin had time to adjust as I got thinner. I found that making sure I was well hydrated both on the inside (with water) and the outside (with lotion) seemed to help too.
  • Thats why slow weight loss it the best, your skin has time to move with you! And you are young so your skin is bouncy and elastic and will cope.

If the worst happens, deal with it but until then just be healthy and don't worry!

I'm taller than you but started out at the same weight - and now I'm close to my goal there is not too much excess.
The way I see it is that I'm making positive changes for my health and my life - sure, there might be a few things I'm not so happy with at the end but the good things outweight those by far!

Don't let that hold you back. Aching knees, breathlessness, high blood pressure, risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, sleep apnoea are all much more serious and difficult to live with than maybe having loose skin.

    Good luck

All I can say is any excess skin has to be a lot better than excess fat doesn't it? Don't let a fear like that stop you :)

    whats bump mean?

Folks type "bump" just to have responded to the post, and thus have it show up on their profile for them to read later. It's a way to "save" a post.

You're pretty young, so it may not be too bad; besides, surgery is always an option.

Better too much skin than all the problems from too much fat, eh?

I am 5'3" and started at 226, and am now 120...and I have loose skin; however, there are many factors that play a part in this. 1) genetics 2) how long you were this overweight and 3) where you carry your weight.

I was obese for most of my life, have poor genetics as far as this goes, and carried all extra weight in my hips and midsection. I thought for sure that I would need a tummy tuck to get my perfect tummy...and am probably right on that still!!! My tummy looks flat in clothes but I would never be able to wear a bikini! i also thought that I would need the arm skin removal surgery...this I was wrong on!! Not only has my skin tightened up quite a bit...but the more muscle I build in my arms, the more the skin "fills" out and doesn't sag.

point being...I think I look pretty good in clothes, I am way healthier and happier than I used to be...and in the big picture...the lil extra skin that I do have left...will be my reminder of why I will never go back to where I came from!!!

I lost 70kg and have lots of excess skin. It has been several years and the skin has not 'moved with me'. I will need surgery to get it fixed.
