I have read that the ones without chest straps are not accurate. I have used a Polar watch and strap in the past, but I think they are a waste. First, I wanted it to see what my base was and if I became more fit. Later, it was to ensure I wasn't having a heart attack or something. e.g. Heart rate wasn't too high. However,…

Thanks to all, a lot of good tips. I will try to slow the process down, so I don't need too much oxygen. I usually practice this after my 50 laps, so maybe I am a little worn out then. I will also try to breath more naturaly, rather than try to expel all air, and inhale all. I will also order a pair of fins to see if that…

I did it a few years ago, and it worked. It's nice to do it with someone, for peer pressure. If you are up, and friend is down, you can support and coerce each other. Also, it's nice to schedule a race two months out, as it creates a goal that you are working towards, and you get a medal! Take it easy to avoid injury.…

Hello, I am 46 yrs old, started last month at 293, currently weigh 280, and my goal is 169. I too am trying the slow method, one pound per week. I try to exercise everyday, cardio at least three times a week (bike for 45 minutes), some weights (maybe once or twice a week, don't like gym much), and if I don't do cardio I at…

Randy, Awesome progress so far, you are working hard! I am interested in swimming as well, what kind of swimming do you do? Freestyle (crawl)? I can't seem to get the breathing rythm down so I don't get winded or die. I thought about taking lessons, they have swimming for excercise lessons at the local YMCA, but then I…

shar140, Long reply: I'd say this. I eat 1800+, and I'm a 170lb female. Do your clothes fit any different? I can lose inches, while the scale remains the same. Also, I doubt you are building muscle - you need a calorie surplus for that, and way more protein (my macro % are set pretty close to yours). Without doing the…

Cheryl, Thanks. According to that calculator I need to eat 3300 calories to maintain my weight, while my BMR is at 2170, so I am not even eating what I need on a daily basis, so you may have something there. Others have indicated that I am not in ketosis, which I confirmed via strips yesterday. I was trying to eat a low…

I have had some small experience with PF as well. The only thing I ever saw that provided relief was exercising the foot specifically. Amazon has a small machine and booklet, that when used, reduces and perhaps eliminates the pain.…

Of course since it said "GIRLZ EYEZ ONLY" I had to read it... very strange but it happens to men as well. Very strange and uncomfortable sensation I must admit. I don't spin, but ride a bike for exercise and I just stand up or take the weight off for a minute and it goes away for a few minutes. I think I will try the one…
