  • I have the actually exercise logs and calendar's via PDF that you can track and log your progress. As for the calorie burn, I usually log them into to the Cardio section and track my calorie burn through my HRM (Polar F6), much like what TRAV said. If you'd like the PDF logs to print out and track, you are welcome to email…
  • Do you know if the MFP web folks do a sweep of the food items? Would be nice if they did, as I'm sure that would free up a ton of space on their end!
  • I would tend to disagree with this to a certain extent. There are foods out there, lots of them, that are bad and many shouldn't eat. Most come in the way of unprocessed and MSG laden foods. Eaten in small portions or not, those are the worst for anyone's diet, whether of stellar health or not. My biggest tip I've learned…
  • I love Asics. I was a huge Nike fan, but couldn't run in their shoes any longer. But LOVE Nike as cross trainers. I went to a running store and was fitted into Asics. They just gel to my feet so nicely.
  • I think you could always sign up for the full and if you feel as though you aren't ready, come the time, then switch to the 1/2. At least give you a firmer goal to work towards? What are you doing to train for the race?
  • There are some good forums for newbie's to check out on the calorie deficit thing, but like the previous post, you want to be mindful of what your daily calorie intake is. You don't want to "stash" your calories for one day, as it will completely sabotage your metabolism. It's all about eating small meals 2-3 hours a day.…
  • I absolutely LOVE Fage. It's my favorite. Had it for breakfast this morning, in fact. Here's my favorite recipe: 1 cup of Fage 0% 1/2 of fresh berries Small handful of walnuts (chopped) 1/4 cup of 365 Brand High Fiber cereal and....favorite part: 1 tbsp of Agave Nectar Dash of cinnamon. This is to DIE for! Love Kashi Go…
  • Hi Matt from Moses Lake!! I'm Taryn, from Seattle. Haha...great job on getting back on the band wagon. Watching what goes into our belly's is a HUGE way to find success or failure. But, you are in good company with so many that are here with the same goals and aspirations. Looking forward to the connection. I'll hunt ya…
  • It's empowering to see where you "started" and where you are today. Nothing like having that "before" picture staring at you constantly as a reminder of what you DON'T want to go back to.
  • That's great!! It really is a lifestyle change. It's not a fad or phase, it really should be looked to as a change in your lifestyle. This is just the first step!
  • Most raw nuts or good oils are great additions to your diet to get the calorie count you need. Also, heard of Shakeology? It's a great meal replacement that will get you more nutrition than an average meal and you can dress it up as much as you need to gain extra calories. Here's some info on it:…
  • Those are incredibly inspiring and powerful words. Thank you for sharing such a blessing and your spirit. Have a great weekend and enjoy the time with your family.
  • Isn't it always aggravating that the men burn more calories on these video's than we do?? Thanks for sharing on her Trav.
  • WhyflySouth is right. Your body takes longer to build muscle, which ultimately burns fat. We want muscle to burn more fat and keep our metabolism revved up. Problem is, when you start a new program or regime, water rushes to those muscles to replenish them, hence a slight weight gain. Here's a great article, that was…
  • Have you heard of Beachbody's RevAbs with trainer Brett Hoebel? That's all focused on burning fat to strengthen the core and abs, but works a bit of the total body too. Always a good idea to consider doing a total body program that has abs. Check it out: http://teambeachbody.com/shop/-/shopping/REVABS?referringRepId=11120
  • Zumba is a fun and flavorful workout! Wish I could get to it more often, but I teach Turbo Kick. Anyone tried it? Sooooooo much fun.
  • I would ditto much of what most have said on here about steering clear of this type of cleanse. It's stripping your body of all nutrients and is far from a long term solution, as it's just unloading your water weight. Not true "fat". You are setting yourself up for future weight gain, for when you come off the cleanse.…
  • How many times a day are you finding you eat? To me, it seems like you aren't taking in enough calories, for the amount of times a week you workout. Do you know approximately how many calories you expend with each workout? What are your workouts? Coupling some strength training (lift HEAVY) and eating 5-6 small meals a…
  • Hi Melissa! Welcome and don't feel down on yourself. We all get to the point that we feel there is no return, but you will prevail. You WANT it! You've said it out loud, you know how it makes you feel right now and it's all good things going forward. We are all here for encouragement and support. What is your plan to reach…
  • You definitely need variety in your workouts, which sounds like you are getting. So it may have to do with your nutrition and the calories you may be taking in or not taking in. Are you taking in enough calories to compensate for what you are expending with your workouts? All too often people want to limit their calorie in…
  • I would agree with williams3023 in that if you want bigger muscles, lift heavy and less reps. What type of home gym system are you thinking? I have the Bowflex Selecttechs and they are AWESOME!!!! Well worth the investment and take up a fraction of what a big machine would take.
  • Ditch the diet soda or any drink with artificial sweeteners. NOt only will it stall your weight loss, but slow your metabolism, resulting in slow results. Plus asparatame is a KILLER!! Check out www.mercola.com and search "aspartame" or "splenda". You'll never want to drink a diet pop again!
  • Shakeology! It's my most favorite low-cal snack and/or meal replacement.
  • Congratulations!! You've accomplished so much so far, you can absolutely make it the rest of the way! Please be sure to keep us posted with your progress! What is your plan for workout and nutrition? Way to go sister! Us Mom's need to stick together. Taryn
  • I can't agree with this more!!! All too often people are eating less, thinking that will help them lose weight when it's only restricting weight loss, as your body goes into starvation mode and you sacrifice your metabolism.
  • I have the Polar F6 as well, but do you find that it's accurate with your calorie burn?
  • If you are just getting back into working out, I would definitely start with Power 90. It's the intro workout to P90X. It's best to start out at a more manageable level, than trying to push it and getting completely discouraged. Opens the door for failure and more injury. I hope this helps. Let me know if you ahve…
  • I'm a huge P90X fan myself too! In my 3rd round and training for my 1st triathlon this month. This has taken me there....hands down!
  • Interesting article...not sure I agree with it in its entirety, although offers a different perspective. Everyone's body responds differently to diet and exercise. I think those are the key to being healthy.
  • Can you give me an idea as to what an average day looks like for meal consumption? You may just need to throw in an extra protein shake or have you tried Shakeology?
