Welcome to MFP!! I'm not in the military, but am a Mom and share the struggles of keeping on track at times. But what really helps me is accountability. Do you have any accountability measures or other Military wives you can hold yourself accountable to?

I've had a lot of success with the Beachbody program library. There is something for everyone! I lost 25lbs with P90X, and although many are afraid of it's intensity, there are ways to scale it. Happy to help offer suggestions based on your goals!

Brilliant! A must read!

Awesome that you are training for a half marathon. WIll this be your first? I trained for my 1st marathon in 2009 and used P90X for weight training with my running schedule. Here's what it looked like: http://bit.ly/MarathonTraining. Hope it helps, but happy to offer ideas for you!

Do you notice a trend on those days that you aren't satisfied? Perhaps you are eating "empty calories" which will give you the desire to want to always eat. Instead, if you are loading up on nutrient dense foods - lentils, legumes, vegetables (sweet potato is my fave), raw nuts, lean meat, fruits - you'll be sustained…

Congratulations on your weight loss thus far! That's huge. What did you find to be successful for you to get to where you are now? You realy just have to ask yourself, what you are willing to do, to get rid of the final 10. Perhaps that means logging all you eat, listening to when your body is hungry, ditching coffee,…

Check out American Council on Exercise, ISSA, AFAA or a handful of others. If you have a specific gym where you want to work, I'd advise asking them what type of certs they require or prefer!

Absolutely woman should lift weights, and to top that, not be afraid to LIFT HEAVY! As females, we generally won't bulk up, just lean out. Well, so long as you couple that with a clean diet!

I got mine on pre-order! So excited!!!

It's definitely a learning curve and one that I'm still working on finding my groove. But what I've found out about myself, is that my head tells me I'm hungry more than my body does. So it's a lot mental. I've learned to know what triggers my hunger (stomach, headache, mood, etc) and feed myself accordingly. But since…

I would be careful of dipping below 1,200 calories, as your body will yes, start losing weight, but you'll go into starvation mode, of which any foods you consume, will be stored as fat to be used later for energy. What's your typical workout activity? Mod note: let's try to keep to just concise answers.

I would agree that it's probably a nutrition thing. When exercising, it takes so much of our physical energy and if you don't refuel with the proper foods, then you'll experience that "lull" or lack of energy. What types of foods are you eating during the day? Do you workout in the AM or PM?
-
Nutrition just fascinates me and love reading what everyone else eats or doesn't eat. For some long I tried to balance a good ratio of carbs/protein/fats, but been doing this 4-week nutrition course and really more "listening" to my body and honoring hunger, instead of just eating every 2 to 3 hours, as I typically have…

Hey guys! My name is Taryn and I've been on MFP since '09. I love P90X, Insanity, CrossFit, Turbo Kick (I teach it once a week) and host a weekly Fit Club here in Seattle! Would love to meet more in the area!

Happy Birthday Marines!! Much gratitude goes out to all the men and women that keep this country safe! God Bless!

What types of foods are you eating? It's not really going to come down to how many miles you walk, although it does help, but more about what you eat and don't eat. That's 80% of any weight loss success! Truly. Focusing on eating clean, whole & fresh foods (think colorful vegetables, fruits, lean meats, eggs, raw nuts,…

Unsalted ORGANIC Butter. Go for the real stuff. The "fake" butters are loaded with chemicals that aren't natural for our bodies to absorb.
-
It certainly matters where your calories come from. What types of foods are you eating to have your sugar intake so high??
-
I second this comment. There are so many different theories out there about when to eat, when not to eat, what to eat, etc. But really comes down to "are you REALLY hungry? Do you feel you are lacking energy?" If you are hungry, then vegetables would sound good to you. Don't just eat to eat, your body will tell you if you…

Whether it's a CPT putting a specific workout together for you, doing a Jillian Michael's tape, P90X, CrossFit, running, etc., all are good in their own right, but the results will ONLY come if your eating is on par. 80% (some debate this - but I'm a believer) of any results in fat loss, comes from the foods we eat. Clean,…

Worthless? I'd challenge him to his reasonings why it's worthless! I think its 110% worth it!! I love the program. I lost 25# with the program and have done it 6 x's through in the last 3 years. Definitely something you can adapt into your workout regime. I also trained for a marathon with the program. Hardly think it's…

I'm not particularly a fan of the ones sold in stores, as often, they are loaded with artificial sweeteners, synthetics and a bunch of garbage. There are a few that are legit...but definitely do your research.

Raw almonds are great. Apples. Raw vegetables (pre-cut to make easily accessible). Home made trail mix (raw almonds, cranberries, etc).

I think there are a variety of opinions out there, but I don't personally agree that coffee or tea is a good substitute to gain your hydration from. Coffee, as a matter of fact, is a contributing factor of dehydration. In moderation, fine, but as a hydration option, not so much. Again, in my opinion (I'm certainly not a…

What is imperative to so much in good health - aids in weight loss, digestion, cellulite control (I'm all about this!!) and so much more. I make a goal of drinking at least 8 oz of water the first thing in the AM. Our bodies easily dehydrate, and if we do physical activity...all the more reason water is so importance. In…

Also, for the ladies. A great tip from my massage therapist friends, the more water we drink, the less cellulite we'll hold on to! Um, there's my motivation! LOL. My kids LOVE water too! They've never been juice drinkers, so I"m happy about that!

Are you not getting the results you intended on? What are your goals? To be frank, you can burn 1000's of calories in a workout, but if you aren't eating right, doesn't matter what you workout you do (80% in fact).

Keep the temptation at bay....tons of sodium in Chinese food. Obviously in the sauces, but also in how the prepare and cook the food. Great job on resisting.

You definitely want to allow enough time to properly train for even a 1/2 marathon. It's great to cross train, but if that means you rarely get out for a run, then it may be best to wait. That being said, if you can get in 3-4 runs a week (2 or 3 short and 1 long), then bike on the other days, that may work. But you do…

Congrats on taking the plunge! It will be the best investment to YOURSELF!! As for the equipment, you can get by with resistance bands (I'd recommend a set - light, medium, heavy) and the pull up bar. For the Yoga days, if you aren't really flexible (YET), then may want a Yoga block to assist. Otherwise, you don't need a…
