  • I would log it as snacks for that day. Sometimes I wake up at 4am and crave an ice cold glass of milk and I log it in my drinks for that day if it's after midnight.
  • Thanks Ed! I'm trying to find motivation for a morning walking. Usually I'm all about it, but I didn't get much sleep last night so I'm feeling very sluggish. My dog, Droopy, is sleeping right now, but he'll get rousted for a walk and I know we'll both enjoy it once we get out there. Have a great day and thanks again for…
  • Awesome! Keep up the great work! I've shaved my weight off and have been maintaining and it's not as easy as it sounds. Looks like you've been maintaining for a long time! An inspiration! Thanks! =)
  • Wow! MFP should put you in some advertising! Awesome job! Keep up the great work!!!! =D
  • Great timing on your post! I just logged on to log the Milky Way bar I just indulged! In my defense, yesterday I didn't go over on any of the 6 items I am watching: calories, carbs, fat, sugar, sodium, and cholesterol. It's very rare that I stay under on all of them, so today, I decided, since I did so well yesterday, I…
  • Welcome! I love your name! =) May 14th will mark 1 year that I've been on MFP, as I've stayed on to maintain, since I have realized that it really works if you stick with it! Wishing you well! Sheila
  • Make your food diary public to your MFP friends. It might make you think about what you eat because you'll have to log it where your friends can see it. I also find motivation by viewing other diaries. Wishing you well! =)
  • Just stick with it! That's what worked for me. When the pounds started to come off, I was motivated. Now I'm at the point of maintaining and every time I think I've changed my eating habits so I don't log in, I fall back into my old ways and start to gain again, so I've stayed on for about a year now, and it works for me…

  • Can't get Yuengling here in Vermont either...wish we did. Everything in moderation for me.

  • Yup, 5'5' here, not tall, not short. My highest weight was 149. That's when my doctor told me that I had gained weight through my 30s and if the trend kept up, I would be overweight in my 40s, when it would be harder to take the weight off. I lost 8 pounds that year, and then my friend introduced me to MFP and I lost 25…
  • I agree with "poedunk65." Everything in moderation is the key for me. Otherwise, eventually I think you'll binge on the foods you've been skipping. My advice would be to make your food diary public so you can consider whether or not your want your fitness pal peeps to see what you are eating. I've passed on a whoopie pie…

  • My worst is push-ups. I like the dead-lift press.
  • I have my elliptical in view of a TV. Sometimes I listen to music, but do find myself looking for something to look at. I used to have my elliptical on my deck in the summer when it was nice just to see the sky and watch for wildlife around the yard. Is yours near a window at least?
  • I would. Walking sure counts as exercise and I'm sure you are on the go go go when serving Buffalo Wild Wings! Shoveling snow is listed as exercise, so I've claimed that as my workout plenty this winter. Same with playing wii sports. If I'm hangin' with friends and we strike up some wii bowling, I log it as exercise. =) So…
  • You are so right! Writing down every morsel that crosses my lips has worked for me! =) Welcome!
  • I think sugar in fruit is better than regular sugar, but to a diabetic, sugar is sugar, so I'm careful about it anyway. My Dad is diabetic and his doctor tells him that he can only have half a banana because there is too much sugar in it for him. I eat a hole banana, since I am not diabetic, but careful not to be since it…
  • Since I've shaved off 25 pounds on MFP, my family and friends tell me I am too skinny. Maybe you will experience that end, once you've met your goal. Hang in and show 'em!
  • Welcome Marcia! I've been on this site for almost a year! I joined last May to support a friend, shaved off 25 pounds by October and maintained ever since. It really works if you stick with it! =) Sheila

  • I've found motivation in the support from my fitness pals. One posted that she passed up a Girl Scout cookie, and it later motivated me to pass up a whoopie pie. I joined last May to support a friend and really got into it. I lost 8 pounds in the first 4 weeks so I took a week off of My Fitness Pal because I thought I…
  • Thank you! I drink a lot of green tea! =)
  • I would log it as one hour of 'walking, brisk pace, dog walking.' I've learned that you have to improvise a bit, and it's worked for me.
  • I'm always hungry too! I drink a lot of tea in the winter and water in the summer. It does help.
  • Good for you! Yes, keep doing what you are doing! I often lost 3 pounds in a week too and after a while, it seems to level off. Keep with it though! I lost 8 pounds in my first 4 weeks, which was my goal for the entire summer, so I took a week off to see if I could handle it on my own and I gained 4 pounds back in a week!…
  • My friend invited me to join this site to support her in her goal to lose 70 pounds. This came a year after my doctor had told me that I had gained a couple pounds a year all through my 30s and if the trend continued, I would be overweight in my 40s. So I had taken 8 pounds off in the following year on my own. Then I…
  • I usually log as I go because I don't know if I am going to finish a meal or not and if I don't eat all of it, I don't have to account for all of it. If I wait until the end of the day, I tend to forget something and it takes too long if I have to look things up.
  • I had been thinking that it would be cool if my fitness pal had a place to put a before and after pic. as the profile pic. Your profile pic is cool. : )
  • I started with simply logging in a typical day of eating. Then I took a look at where I should cut back. If I ate a 500 calorie breakfast and went over my calories for the day, the next day I made sure to eat a smaller breakfast and just tried to trim calories through the day, eating fewer calories at each meal or snack…
  • Glad you and your girlfriend found myfitnesspal! I was invited to it to support a friend. I was also told I was in the high end of my weight chart by my doctor and I had been gaining weight through my 30s and I'm turning 40 this year. So I joined last May and lost 24 pounds by October and have been maintaining since. If…
