North Bend, WA. :)

My friend is doing it this year, but it falls on my anniversary and hubby can't run so I'll let her be the guinea pig and I'll maybe do it next year. I AM going to do the Pineapple Classic in North Bend this November. It looks like WD "Light".

Aw, hon, I'm sorry it is tough when you don't have full control yet. (It's tough enough as an adult!). I am with the person who said walking is free. Be safe about it, maybe take a friend, but walk and do it briskly. If you have a backpack, you can carry it with added weight. You can also work your way up to running.…

Every night AT LEAST once a night. I am also the annoying friend who has to stop on a road trip. "Gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now..." :embarassed:

Good for you! :flowerforyou:

I'm in!

People ACTUALLY did that???? You have every right to be proud! :flowerforyou: I guess there are mean people in all walks of life. Mean people suck.

You don't OWE anyone an explanation. People are going to make their assumptions. Just keep doing what you're doing. Good for you for getting healthy!

Well, I lost 3. Not close to 10. BUT 3 is better than none, and now I am off work for the summer, so I am planning on focusing on ME for the summer. Here's to new challenges all the time! :drinker:

Make the time for you starting NOW. If it means getting up at 5:00 AM, if it means not making dinner for 2 nights a week, if it means being a little bit of a meanie by demanding that time - do it. You deserve it. You will earn your family's respect back when you respect yourself. You respect yourself by taking care of…

I have gone without logging when I am in maintenance (I have been on and off MFP since 2007). But when my weight goes up, it is the best way to bring it back down. If keeps me mindful. So, maybe not *every* day forever, but it will always be a useful tool in my life since I do love to eat more than I should.
-
Thank you everyone! My MFPers will be my "Self-Improvement Family". Now, please excuse me while I go re-link my exercises to FB.

Good one!

Not only do people need to take personal responsibility for what they eat, but we also need to take responsibility by EDUCATING ourselves on how to be healthy and being patient when watching for results. Do not assume that because the FDA approved something, it is good for you, or that because the ripped guy/skinny chick…

Awesome job!

Welcome, friend. :flowerforyou:

I like to do cardio first, even if the experts say not to. I feel like my heart rate is elevated and the burn from that will keep going during my weight workout. When I do weights first, I feel too tired to give it my all with my cardio. Personal preference.
-
Of course! This is one of the habits I must focus on. Eating is NOT meant to be entertainment. At least not as much as I was using it for entertainment in the past. I have been trying to replace it with walking, house projects, reading, etc. Habits are hard to break, but it CAN be done.

This is from fitness magazine. 20 minutes and I burn close to 200 calories: 3 minutes walk/jog in place to warm up 60 jumping jacks 1 minute jog/walk in place 60 jumping jacks 1 minute jog/walk in place 30 burpees 1 minute jog/walk in place 30 burpees 1 minute jog/walk in place 30 burpees 1 minute jog/walk in place 30…

There is a 74 year old woman at my gym who can out run half the members and doesn't have an ounce of body fat on her. Plus, she is happy all the time because she isn't using a walker and stuck sitting around the house all the time. I am 44 and she is my inspiration!!!

Wow! You look wonderful! Great job! :flowerforyou:

An article that includes common sense - such a rarity. Thanks for sharing!

I hate sweeteners, especially aspartame. It makes me nauseous and jittery. I am lucky because I *like* water and DESPISE soda, diet or otherwise. I think the big problem is that in this country, we tend to overdo things. *A* diet soda is not going to kill you. Drinking 8 of them a day instead of 8 glasses of water -…

It is always good to say something encouraging and positive to someone, at the gym or otherwise.

I have never been to the area, but seafood is generally good for you. Just be careful of butter sauce and things that are fried. Have a wonderful vacation!

Twice a week. If I do any more than that, I become obsessive.

I don't think that coffee itself is inherently bad in moderation. I just tend to doctor it up too much. I do think if you drink TOO much it can't be good for you because of all the caffeine.

8 minimum. I am an early-to-bed, early-to-rise kind of gal. I go to bed around 8:30 - 9:00 PM. I get up anywhere from 4:45 - 5:15 AM. Less than 8 hours of sleep makes me cranky.
