Donated Blood - how bad is lifting tomorrow?
I need to come up with a plan for tomorrow. I was going to do a Strength and Endurance class in the morning, but I just donated blood and they said no lifting for 12 hours. I am feeling like I really need a class this week. (Some weeks I am super-motivated to workout solo. This is not one of them.) So, I am wondering if…

Things I am Lucky not to Like
Realizing how many people are struggling to avoid sodas and how I'm lucky not to like much to drink besides water. Well, and wine. There is that. But it made me realize also that all our struggles are different. What are you glad you don't like to eat? I'm glad I don't like: Sodas Mayo (*gack!*) potatoes (french fries,…

Sugar and joint pain
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed a correlation between sugar consumption and aching joints. I was eating "clean" for quite a long time and working out with no joint pain. I had previously had knee and ankle issues, but they had subsided. For the last 2 months, my appetite has gone crazy and I have eaten whatever…

Restaurant Nutrition Guides
I wish all restaurants had one as user-friendly as Red Robin's. I am going to dinner with friends and now know exactly what to order - AND what to avoid. This is a really helpful tool and I wish more places had one as good as theirs. Kudos to Red Robin! :flowerforyou:

MY SKINNY CAPRIS FIT!
Woooohoooo!!!!!   I was noticing that I have been looking frumpy lately because my clothes are fitting kind of baggy. However, I didn't think I was quite to where I could get into my skinny set of clothes. Apparently, I was wrong! Not only is this a happy dance moment, it also saves money. I can go…

TRYING to understand my family
Last Christmas we were with family in California for the WHOLE vacation. When you live away from family and then go spend time with them, you see things in a different, more stark light. I realized that on both sides of our family - NOBODY goes to a gym, NOBODY watches what they eat, EVERYBODY drinks on a daily basis and…

Small changes add up
I have recently made 2 little changes to my breakfast that really make a difference in my calorie count. I love peanut butter for breakfast, so I have it on whole wheat bread. I also MUST have my coffee in the morning and I am slowly weaning off the added stuff and trying to get to where I can drink it black. In the past,…

NEED to go over on calories
I was in a plateau when I stayed at my calorie limit. However, if I go over by 3-400 a day, I consistently lose weight. I am hesitant to change my settings, because I kind of feel like I am getting away with something. If I adjust it for more calories, I would be tempted to go over THAT too, which might not work so…

SO EXCITING BUT NOTHING TO DO WITH LOSING...
This goes to show that if you put your mind to it, you can do ANYTHING!!! My son will be graduating high school this coming Friday. One of his classmates suffered horrible brain damage playing football when they were in the 8th grade. At first, they said he would die (and when I saw him in the hospital, I thought so, too).…

Well, THAT's a bummer!
I am being really strict on my calories today because it is my rest day from exercise. My family is headed to the movies shortly, so I looked up what a small, unbuttered popcorn at Regal Cinemas is for calories. I guess I'll pass since I want to eat dinner. No wonder it's hard to lose weight if you're not paying attention!…

Relatives are coming!
So, my baby boy graduates from high school next Friday, which in itself is an emotional time for me, since I will soon become an empty nester. But on top of that, my brother and his family are coming to stay for a couple of nights. They like their cocktails.:drinker: And their steaks. And their baked potatoes with…

HAPPY FRIDAY!
Everyone have an excellent day and prepare yourselves for the weekend. Remember, you don't *have* to eat healthy and exercise, you *get* to eat healthy and exercise all weekend! :flowerforyou: (My son's teacher used to tell the kids that in 3rd grade about their homework, ha ha!)

Gratitude to help my attitude
I have been feeling both blue and VERY snarky for the last couple of days. Also sorry for myself. It has made me feel pretty crappy, both emotionally and physically. SO, time to think about things I am grateful for to erase this horrible combination of moods. I am grateful for: 1) My health. That is why I am back on here…

Early to bed...
Early to rise, let's a girl get her workout in, so goodnight, MFP!

Excited for my "Exercise Passport"
I have been "meh" on my exercise and eating the last few weeks...actually months, truth be told...but recommitted to this yesterday. And what great timing! My gym is starting a "Passport Program" for the month of June. Starting tomorrow, I get a punch card and for every group class I attend, they will punch it and at the…

Committing myself to myself today
I have been a member of MFP for a few years now, and had success in the past. Since last holiday season I haven't really been able to stick to healthy eating. My attitude has been "meh". I'm tired of it, so starting today I am really committing myself to this program and to being a healthier, happier, thinner person. It's…

Biting my tongue
I went to an Arbonne party the other day. I love their products, but they are quite expensive so I was only going in order to support a friend who has decided to sell the products. HOWEVER - the main focus was on their weight loss system, which involved meal replacement shakes and one meal per day. No mention of exercise.…

Going to try TRX
A friend of mine invited me to her gym to try this. It is a series of movements using bands strung over a bar to do strengthening moves. I am very excited to try it!

Happy Monday!
Here's to Thanksgiving being over (even though it WAS fun!) and being healthy, strong and fit. Have a great week, MFPers!

Thankful for food I DON'T like...
A list of foods I am grateful I don't like: Mayonnaise Soda Potato Chips - or anything potato for that matter Candy that isn't chocolate i.e., Skittles, Starburst, etc. Unfortunately, that sure leaves a longer list of foods that cause me to fall off the wagon. *Sigh*

Back after a sad break
Took a week off of logging in, but managed to eat pretty well any way. A funeral last weekend, one today and had to put my doggy to sleep last Monday because of bone cancer. Despite the memorial service I have to go to today, I am ready to socially interact again and start back on track. It is a beautiful day here, which I…

"Bonking"
Now I know what this means. The last 2 days my workouts have been extremely hard to get through and have left me completely wiped out. Tomorrow is my stretch day and not a moment too soon. Does this mean I should add more food to my menu? The weight has been coming off really quickly, so it wouldn't be bad if it slowed…

Activia to the rescue - not the way you think
I have recently taken a liking to this yogurt. It is currently saving me from diving head-first into the bowl of M&Ms that is out for my son's birthday BBQ that we are hosting. I am going to sit up here and eat my yogurt until the stoopid M&Ms quit calling my name...

Spinning or Circuit Training today?
Ok, decisions, decisions - which one should I do today?

Insanity???
Ok, my son and my hubby have started Insanity. I have completed P90X and still use some of the workouts, combined with classes that my local gym offers. I am SCARED of Insanity. Mostly because it seems like the only space is the garage where my son and hubby workout. I don't like to workout on the concrete floor. P90X…

Time to Sweat
Gonna go take the Bosu Cardio class at my gym this morning. Gotta burn some pre-Christmas calories!!!

The Power of a Positive Word
A couple of weeks ago, I went to try out a new gym with a friend. I have never worked out with her before. It was a great class that incorporated a little bit of cardio with lots of weights. After class, we were walking out and she said, "You have a beautiful body. I can tell you workout and take care of yourself." I have…

Hey Shannon!
Is it time for a Friday night glass of wine yet? Not that I really need permission, but just thought I'd check with the guru for this sort of thing...
