I am 133 pounds, 5'2. Goal is 125. I weighed about 105 in early 20's and 115 in early 30's.

I did something similar about 1200 cals + eating back exercise calories sometime around 2010 I went from like 149 to 123 - I looked great! However, the rebound was terrible. I gained up to 135 really fast and I couldn't tolerate going back to 1200 either - ravenously hungry at times. To stop the gaining I started doing a…

If you can - follow up with the endocrinologist, in a year of watching your diet - you should not have gained. Also, while working out will help you maintain a higher muscle to fat ratio - I don't think it does much for your weight in the long run. I once worked out with a personal trainer for about 4 months, sticking to a…

This is the way I have seen it explained. When dieting you reduce your glycogen (and water ) stores. Therefore, as soon as you go to a less-restricted diet you should gain between 2-5 pounds. This is not fat. You can still lose weight on a higher calorie diet but you'll have to take the initial hit. So, if it is only a few…

I think it has something to do with a blood sugar / metabolism issue. People who don't handle carbs well - become overweight. Some people may become overweight for other reasons. If you get really hungry every couple of hours you would probably benefit from lowering carbs. If just cutting calories works for you then you…

I think it could help prevent blood sugar dips in some people. However, for other people, eating less often actually works better. You just have to see what works for you.

You look great! From pictures I have seen of different percentages - you seem to compare to those at 20%. However, I am by no means an expert.

It probably depends on how many grams of carbs you want to do a day. Personally, I am not eating them now but I eat tomatoes and avocados. I remember that one time when I was trying to stay in ketosis - I could get away with half a pear with 2-4 oz cream cheese. Half an apple a day (as suggested by another poster) seems…

Try taking out all bread, pasta and added sugars to see how it works for you. That will probably put you at moderate to low carb without having to think about it too much. I think of low carb as < 75 grams per day (think Slow Carb diet, Southbeach Phase II) I think of Moderate carb as 75-100 grams per day but I've seen it…

That is an interesting observation and now that you point it out - I've seen it a lot on mfp too. Usually, with mfp women who have been on the diet treadmill for a while.(sorry for the pun).

Interesting... Benadryl was well known as causing weight gain in people who used it to fall asleep regularly. Maybe the sleeping pill has a similar effect?

After adjusting to keto - I can usually do half a cup of blueberries with heavy cream and stay in ketosis. I have also eaten half a pear with about 3 ounces of cream cheese. However, you don't have to stay in ketosis all the time to get the benefits from low carb. It should be possible to fit fruit in if you are looking to…

I also found that upping my fat intake seemed to reduce my carb cravings.

Typical: Breakfast - kale sauted in coconut oil; 2 whole (pastured if available) eggs fried in the pan after you take out the kale; 1/2 avocado or 100 cal pak of guacamole; Lunch - Grass fed short ribs and broth (cooked in the pressure cooker a couple of days ago) over kale or spinach. Dinner - pork chops and cabbage and…

In the US, I found :Reserveage organics Grass-Fed Whey Protein. Ingredients were Whey protein concentrate, cocoa, "natural flavors', stevia leaf extract and sunflower lecithin. www.reserveage.com. It is ok as protein powders go.

I don't think so. The sugar level in the dried fruit is high. I think it works out better to eat whole fruit and oatmeal or a boiled egg.
-
I go back and forth on this. Macadamias seem to work fairly well. Not sure about almond butter - but I have been trying it this week when my calories are low.

Pork Rinds:)

If you follow calories: After setting your required protein and max 40 grams carbs then the remainder of calories should be fat. If you are just counting carbs and not calories, eat unlimited fat (natural is better in my opinion) and moderate protein to the point where you feel satisfied. (Sometimes I eat ALOT of calories…

I like low carb and have really good energy levels with it. However, after losing my initial weight, I haven't lost much this year - just maintaining (which is ok for me). Low carb also helps with some skin issues and with keeping your blood sugar and insulin levels steady. Good luck - hopefully, you will get some good…

I woke up way early (5am) and so ate lighter than usual. -1/2 grapefruit - 1 egg - coffee with heavy cream.

A friend of mine told me after you lose the weight, it takes a little while for everything to redistribute.

Hey 366 - I am on board. Usually, I cheat on purpose once a week but I want to see what happens if I stay strict for two weeks in a row. Will check back September 15. Good luck

Totally agree with the above poster - get your full protein and stay well above 1200. If you are cutting calories cut from low nutrition carbs first. Trying to up protein may certainly help.
-
Bump: Totally going to try these with regular cream cheese and pork bacon.

22.7 would make me happy.

I usually do but sometimes get on a streak where I eat lunch out for a while or have to work out of town. Diary is open. I do high fat diet.

Yes, low carbing should make it easier to go long periods without food once you have adapted to it. If you are still having to eat carbs for energy - you haven't got there yet. However, it would also depend on what tempting things your family prepares in the evening. If you will be sharing a meal with family it will be…

Salmon patties, green beans, some Kerrygold cheese and a few macadamias.
